I never really liked too much the original hood that came with the game, so recently i decided to modify it.
I have used Blender and Adinos mdb2obj tool (Great tool btw).
There are currently two issues with the model, a little bit of clipping on the lower side of the hood, and for some reason (i'm no 3D expert) when i look at the hood ingame, it looks wrong because the borders of the faces of the 3D model are quite apparent, i have uploaded a screenshot where this is seen clearly.
Whoever wants to keep working on this to correct this issues or use it for his personal use, please do it.
I have uploaded both the source mtl and obj files and the mdb files with it's textures.
UPDATE 27/08/07: Finally discovered the reason for the model roughness, i haven't smoothed the model on blender, now it looks quite better.
I have created another hood based on the "Get your skull on" Pack (Nice work :-)), I simply took the normal hood and resized/reshaped it, I think it looks more realistic that way.
The source obj and mtl files are not included now.
I don't plan on adapt the model(s) for other races/genders, so right now it would only be usable by Male Tieflings, Aasimars and Humans.
UPDATE 28/08/07
Added a third model (Just opened a bit the lower side of the second one) and some screenshots. I think that the last one is the best looking of the three.
I Hope you like it.
NOTE: I have realized that there are some clipping issues if you use the last model on an NPC and get far away from him, this is because i tried to adjust the upper side of the hood as much as possible to the head. As long as you use the hood on your main PC this should not happen.
UPDATE 2/09/2007
Work In Progress, Hood v2.0:
I decided to give the hood a little bit of additional detail, this time i used 3d studio 8.0 to smooth the hood a little and reshape it. This has augmented the polycount, of course.
There's an additional issue, the hood looks fine ingame, but when you look at it on the inventory screen, looks like some faces of the model become transparent, i have attached a screenshot, but the quality is not so good. If anyone has an idea about how to solve this, please contact me.
Bear in mind that this, even when it's useable in game, is still a WIP, i would like to rewrite the vertex weights to give the hood a more natural look when the head moves, a little bit more of reshaping would be a good idea, too, and i think that i need to find a solution for the inventory screen issue to consider this finished.

I'd keep the elven ears hidden under the hood, the WoW look with ears sticking out looks too much cartoon style.
If you ever consider adapting the head retexture to humans (and possibly Aasimars) or even use it as a completely new head choice it would be another very good addition to add more variety.
I still have to look into releasing this for all races and genders, most human-like shaped heads will be easy (halflings, elves, half elves...) i'm considering whether let the elven ears get out of the hood ala WOW, or reshaping the hood to adapt it to the elven heads. Suggestions are welcome.
The problem will be the dwarves and half orcs heads, that are much bigger than the human ones, i hope to be able to post an update soon.
About the head... it's just a retexture i made of one of the tiefling heads i use for my main character.

Even though it is still a WiP, it already looks a lot better than the hoods that came with the game. Having this available for all races/genders would be welcome.
Where did you get that head BTW? (the one with vanDyke beard)

I really like it and hope to see it come as a replacement for the other hood models used in the OC. _________________________ I believe in science and that science can explain everything,
Because God has made it all work in such a beautiful way.
This is just a work in progress, but i won't be able to keep working on this until the last week of september (i'm out of the country now), as soon as i come back, my intention is trying to improve the last model and maybe make the equivalent model for the other races and genders.
Glad you enjoyed it :-).

Is that work finished or is there still something in progress? I haven't noticd this before because such thing are mostly in Hak Packs here. Too bad it's just one, I'm gonna use it anyways, thanks!
