It's stll A Masterpiece... for me at least.
After all, an art would look like piece of sh*t if effort wasn't put on it.

4 - Has merit, requires improvements

I'd say work on other stuff and come back later to this one, leave it as a Work in Progress.

Great idea BTW.

I'm just asking more people to make custom content!! Some of my stuff may not be perfect but I am working on making NWN2 have a bit of custom content for everyones interest. If they don't like certain ones they can just download around it ;)

Dude, most of the people who have been doing the serious critiques of your work *are* involved, busy and (biased of me to say) extremely competenent modders...no wanna-be comenters here. unless you want to call my scimitar pack as not being a submission.

And we just want to see you grow,or we´d just keep silent...im about to release a club pack myself again and will be working towards forming a modding group so we can tackle content in a much more effienct manner...anyone who wants to join in, including *you* just has to contact me via e-mail.

I just got to the part in my modeling book about Softselecting meshs for deformations. If only I could read as fast as my mind wants to model it's ideas.

What I really want to see... is everyone who is commenting on the models or conversions ect.. please start making your own contributions to the NWN2 custom content scene, the more of us working on it the better chance NWN2 has a chance of making it out of the starting gate for more than just hardcore players of NWN1.

Ok, another thought ;) Here's how you can improve this with the least effort. First, just make the surface of the shield slightly curved. Then, search the internet for a picture of a real skull with nearly the same angle that you've used on the image here (just google it). You might take a look at my "get your skull on" pack. The Diffuse map uses an image from a real skull. You might be able to just use that. Anyway, using an image of a real skull will enable you to create a very detailed Normal map using Crazybump. Put this all together and you're done ;) So, the reason I say make the shield slightly curved is that when a detailed diffuse and normal map is applied to it, it will create the illusion that there is much more texture than there really is. The illusion won't be effective however if the shield is completely flat. You've got to make it curved like the face of a skull is curved. Oh, one final detail is that after you've made the shield curved, you might want to pull out the ridge of the nose just a little bit to complete the illusion (just make a little bump where the nose is).

I noticed when looking at your other stuff that you don't seem to be using textured Normals for anything. If you just add some texture to your models via the "Normal" file, it will make a world of difference. Crazybump is a wonderful little program that takes care of Normals for you.

Good too see you starting to do your own pieces instead of swiping from other games,in the end youll find out this was the proper way to go afterall.

As for the work:

-The Mesh: maybe the idea would be fun to see fully fleshed, but i think you currently bit off more than you could chew in terms of execution. mesh wise it seems to be a sink-hole for geomery where all the details are in the sillouete\outer edge of the mesh where you absulutly cannot hide\fake lack of details. then the rest of the shield´s surface is just cardboard flat...

The Texture: my guess is,you didnt doodle this from scratch. something you took from a comic panel or illustration and stuck in?because it clearly, painfully shows...its just a flat,comic-book texture.
You could of used the picture as a reference and built an wooden\metal\whatever surface that resembled it via Photoshop, giving your model an apropiate surface...and as mentioned, also crank out a decent normal map.

Dude, look up help to brush up your skills, and spend more time actually working on any given piece instead of releasing loads of them into the vault...

I like the design, but it looks too much like an airbrush painting on the surface of a flat shield. Doesn't quite fit a fantasy setting. All you would have to do to make this great is actually shape the surface of the shield so that it matches the image you have on there. You'll need to make a normal from the image (should be pretty easy with crazybump), so that it has the right shading and also make it a little pitted or something so that it looks like real bone or metal. This could be awesome ;)

It is a good adapted idea, but the model itself doesn't look realistic at all :(

I know you are a quality modeler from previous works you made, and I know u must have better ideas to make models from. I just don't like this one.
