If necessity is the mother of invention, then irritation is a hit'n'run father.
With the release of MotB, using dual daggers became so appealing that I couldn't help myself but create a character aiming for the Invisible Blade prestige class. However, every time I played it, the standard dual-sword animations irked the living, er, braziers out of me. I kept thinking that if you just inverted the daggers, it would look a lot better.
When I saw the recent submissions of all-new, inverted dagger models, I figured it shouldn't be that hard to twist the original ones around... so I did, and the results were surprisingly good. The fighting looks decidedly more underhanded, backstabbing and throat-slashing with the blades inverted.
This is a primitive hack. I've just turned the dagger models 180 degrees in both the x and y dimensions using Adinos' excellent MDB Manipulation tool. Anyone with a bit of basic modding experience could do it, and if there's a smarter way, I'd be glad to hear of it. Meanwhile, however, this at least gives the rogue players amongst us a bit more of that sinuous grace associated with the, ah, profession.
To use in the OC or just about every other campaign that doesn't use custom dagger models, just unpack the ZIP file and toss it into your Override directory, and you're set to go.
If you want to use it in a HAK pack, well, you should know the drill by now.
In-Depth Override Installation Instructions For The Newcomers:
1) Make sure NWN2 and the Toolset are not running.
2) Unpack the ZIP file.
3) Locate the directory \Neverwinter Nights 2\Override\ in your My Documents folder.
4) Copy the directory (named Inverted_Daggers) you unpacked from the ZIP file into the above directory.
5) Stab backs, cut throats and eat apples. Maniacal cackling is optional.

Downloaded and installed. While looking most cool, this borked my keymapping somehow. The esc key kept changing from 'target next enemy' to minimap toggle, and all over the place. After I removed the folder from override, everything went back to normal? Strange.

Never voted before, but I've been using these for a while now and they are great.

i should vote for the idea.. but i already did it for the punching dagger.
Sad there are not really new pieces, only a rotation of the default daggers... but it's more sad that we have no choice to change the attack animations for the moment :/

Good idea!
Having both normal AND inverted daggers is possible.
With MDB cloner you could simply clone the inverted daggers as new models, and edit char files with GFF.
I did it myself and created a new set of daggers, numbering 101, 102, and so on.
With GFF I edited the left handed dagger to be an inverted model, and they look great.
Some items are actually meant to confer two-weapon feats, so it goes doubly well, since those weapons are supposed to be wielded in the off-hand anyway.
I'm giving a ten out for the idea, and the extra food for thought.
Simon05: As previously mentioned, that isn't possible with this kind of hack, since it actually inverts -the models themselves-. Anyway you do it, you'll invert all uses of the models affected, or none. To have one up and one down, you'd have to add a complete set of inverted models -in addition to the unchanged ones- and a way for the game to recognise which you're using. While I could probably learn to do this - in theory - it would take an insane amount of work on my part. It would simply not be worth it.

Amazing !
yzzf and Ahnion : I think you can avoid the problem of stabbing with the kukri by setting one up and the other down.
Have you tried ?

I for now, can entirely feel the power of invisible blade by using this hak. It's perfect and altius. Great Job! _________________________ Athena, the sorrow of morrow.

Maian: I've had the same notion, but no - since this actually inverts the dagger models, you can't do it this way. I suspect that you would actually have to change the animation files for it to work. I'd love to see a better dagger/kukri-fighting animation, as the present one is -way- too generic. (Shame on you, Obsidian.) Making one is leagues beyond my abilities, though.
yzzf: I could, and I've thought about it, but the "stabbing" parts of the animation would look very odd with the angled blade of a kukri. If, having considered that, you still want a set of inverted kukri models, I'll see about tossing one up beside the daggers. It's not a lot of work once you've figured out how.

This's great, can you do the same thing with kuri?
