Since the fall of the Ilmarid Empire 10 years ago in a bloody coup staged by the leader of the Arcane Society, and the destruction of the Tinaran penninsula, you have lived on the island of Tinara. The last habitable piece of the penninsula to survive the catastrophic blast that destroyed the last major force of the Ilmarid Legion, as well as the land on which it stood at the time, Tinara is the refuge of thieves and smugglers. The smaller pieces of the penninsula, jutting out of the ocean like skeletal fingers, are referred to as the Shattered Coast, and provide a measure of seclusion to the refugees on Tinara.
One of the only survivors to reach the island, you have hidden your military past as well as you could, and taken up work as a mercenary. Amongst the thieves, pirates, and smugglers that frequent the island, not many questions are asked of you as long as you follow orders. It has been peaceful for the last few years, with little news from the mainland. Rumors have been coming in recently, however, that a member of the royal family - the family declared dead the night the capital city fell - still lives.
Beta for Chapter 1 is now closed. The final release version will be uploaded later tonight most likely, on a separate pages. Thank you, Beta Testers, for the feedback and suggestions. If any wish to place a vote, please do so on the final release page when it is available.
This page will be updated later on when I am ready to beta test Chapter 2.

Beta now closed. Final release will be uploaded to the Vault shortly. If you participated in beta testing and wanted to submit a vote, please do so on the final release page when it is available. I'll update this page again when I am ready to test the next chapter in a few months. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

Leaving the files up as a beta for another day or so, then I'll be pulling them down for the final release, which will be a separate page here on the Vault. This page will be where I upload the next chapter(s) for beta testing in the future.
If you have any beta feedback, post it here or email it to me so I can address it, otherwise I'll go with the old "no news is good news." ;) _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

Well, I found the problem, and I'll reupload the module files tonight before I go to bed. I had the Chapter 1 module set to use the old deep halls hak pak, which I still so I didn't catch it earlier. If you don't want to wait to download, you can open up chapter 1, part 1 in the toolset, go to View -> Module Properties, then on the hak pak tab find the entry for the deep halls file which will say 1p0, replace it with 1p6 (which you should have already, just browse and replace) and save. Should clear things up. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

Is it freezing when you select Chapter 1 on the conversation, or after it starts to load the module? _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

I've been looking forward to this release and I am pretty sure I loaded everything correctly but once I go thorough nexus and chapt. 1 is supposed to start it doesn't. It tries to load but nothing happens.
Well, FTP didn't work, but I did learn how to manually set archive sizes for splitting so I'll upload them the via normal route in parts. Learn somethin' new every day!
Update Notes, 08/16/07 - Version Beta 0.3:
- Full implementation of advanced henchman and monster AI
- Replaced Travel Nexus setup with functional world map transitions
- Lots of minor tweaks and changes to scripts, dialogs, encounters, etc.
- Full chapter now available, Parts 1 and 2
- Modified the Tears of Ilmarid campaign to use the Nexus module as the starter and the in-between module, allowing you to select which chapter to begin with. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

Aiming to have the full chapter 1 uploaded by the end of the week. Finals finish up Wednesday so I'll have time to run my final playtests, get things polished up, and get the files uploaded to the Vault hopefully before Sunday. Hail Kurita! Loved the first part of your module. The teleport worked great ... took me to the Null of plain pastures. _________________________ "Blasted skeletons say cheese to My Holy Symbol."

Final releases will be titled by chapter, rather than the current one, with the ToI# designation that the module files have. Long title for the beta helps by attracting a smaller number of testers, which I prefer. ;) _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

This is not a compalint. Just call it constructive criticism. Or simply opinion.
Your module's full name seems bloated.
They say you can't judge a book by it's cover. But the truth is people do judge things by their titles. And, based solely on an unnecisarily inflated name, I would wager that your plotline is cliche'.
Now, I'm not saying that your plotline is actually cliche'. What I'm saying is that almost every game with an overly long name that I have ever played also has a cliche' plot. And because of my bad experiences, and the fact that I really appreciate an interesting plotline in my RPG, I probably wouldn't play this module.
Not everybody out there is as picky as me. But I would like to suggest simply changing the name to Tears of Ilmarid: Blood War.
I won't be upset with you if you don't. I'm not going to mock or flame you. And I will still try your mod because I at least test out every NWN2 mod released. I'm just sharing my honest opinion. _________________________ NWN2 Voting Standards - Tattoo it on your forehead.

Module Updated! Barring any major issues, next update will be a while as I will be focusing on the second half of the chapter.
06/08/07 - Version 0.2 - notes:
- Adjusted all lip-synched conversations to slow them down as able
- Pirates in the cave cutscene now respond appropriately at the end of the dialogue
- Pirate raider hitpoints reduced to be more in line with the difficulty
- Wiggan's General Store lighting adjusted
- Lockpicking is more rewarding now
- Various spelling and grammar corrections
- Corrected the AC on all custom made shields to give the appropriate AC bonuses
- Added a new merchant and several color NPC's to Delkan and Frostwind's
- Pirates will be more accurate now to compensate for the AC players can achieve with what is available in the module
- Renamed the module files for both parts of Chapter 1, being over 32 characters long was causing issues
- Starting equipment in 'Your Home' has been modified
- Merchant wares buy/sell details have been re-evaluated and modified
*-----------------------------------*
If conversation nodes still feel too short in place, I have other means of increasing the duration but I need details, so here's the steps I would prefer you take:
Pause the conversation when a node moves too fast, write down the name of the NPC, the area you are in, and write down a portion of the section (i.e., if a section starts with "Soandso did X, then I did Y, and then such-and-such happened..." make a note that it starts with "Soandso did X, ..." so I know which node to lengthen. The lip-synch files I am using only go up to 12 seconds, so anything more than that and I have to set the node to delay itself a certain amount manually. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

The module loading freeze has proven to be a pretty spectacular bug, it might take a couple days to figure out what's causing the glitch since there are a lot of variables that might be messing things up. Once I have it locked down and working properly I'll be uploading it. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

PLEASE NOTE: Added download link to the Item Placeables hak on the Vault, which will be required after I upload the next version.
Updated version should be done and uploaded by the middle of the week if all the changes run smoothly when I playtest it. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

The module loading crash is annoying. I'll run through again and see if it does it for me again, thought I had it fixed but apparently not. I think it may be a glitch from the unofficial 1.06 patch, but I'm not certain. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|

Hail Kurita! Love your story so far ... and I'm enjoying getting lost in the scenary. Your mod has the visual glow of a pen-and-paper come to life.
Looks wonderful.
Possible Spoilers! (translated from bloodstained parchment Glory short-hand).
--Tavern Contact Aldoff Frostwind, said "Messages? Oh yes, there was a
letter left for you here just last night. Big guy came buy (change to 'by') after the dinner hour, had an accent (insert 'that', for better continuity) I've never heard before. Wore a hood, so I never got a good look at his face, he only stayed long enough to ensure I would remember to give you this."
{He reaches into a pocket and withdraws a folder (change to 'folded') piece of parchment. The wax seal on it bears the imperial symbol.}" in response to Glory's inquiry "Have there been any messages left for me recently?"
[Possible language flavor improvement could be]: "Messages good Sir? Oh yes, right you are Sir! There was a letter left here for you just last night. A large burly fellow arrived after Frostwind's dinner hour. The chap had a thick accent I've not heard before, and I doubt I'd mistake it after a first hearing. Could barely make his face, I tell ya, as his head was enshrouded by a darkened hood. The stranger was here but a moment. Just long enough, it would seem, for me to remember to give you this." Frostwind retrieved a folded piece of ivory parchment from his belt pouch. He hands you the note, which bears a wax seal, the crimson imperial symbol."
--From the last sentence: "I need to gather any supplies I might need from
Delkan and make for the nortern (change to northern) coast as fast as
possible." in the Journal Entry "Princesses and Pirates."
[Possible language flavor improvement could be]:
"I must gather any supplies or items that I might need from Delkan, and
then make for the Northern Coast with haste."
--From the Traumatized Prisoner in the Pirate Camp room: "She shudders visible (change to 'visibly') her eyes ... ones (one's) and two's ..."
--From Princess Evalyn D'M ... (when about to leave pirate basement):
"She walks over (insert 'to') the chest on the table, ..."
--In My House, with princess Evalyn D'M ... "Yes, that was our plan initially.
When we reached the border, the elves on patril (change to 'patrol') there
warned us away, ..."
Blast those dark gods! The Game crashes inside Annias' House when
Annias' says "Follow me." The fire rings flash around Princess Evalyn and
I ... and then the screen bloody freezes.
So Glory's recall of Ilmaridian exploits stops there. Stunned for the
moment, he might be. Ancipating more grandure in the mean-time, as his
blade and shield hum in the near-silent void of darkness ... waiting, for more of the mystery to unfold. _________________________ "Blasted skeletons say cheese to My Holy Symbol."
Forgot to mention that the email function isn't working in other threads on this forum also. _________________________ Help is good when asked for,

Hohiro Kurita:
I've been through the first half and found a few things :)
*all conversations seem to scroll to quickly, I feel rushed when reading them.
*floating text moves off screen quickly.
*N.W. corner of Wiggin's General Store is very dark, looks like a storage room.
*Delkin, Port of Thieves: No thieves or shady characters, I didn't even find a town drunk or loitering thug.
*Broken Cliffs is a very well done area, almost scenic.
*Cliff Cave after cut scene where pirate triggers a magical ward trap the Pirate Assassin and Pirate Raider don't attack. When examined they show hostile, they do fight back when attacked.
*Pirate Raiders seem to have a great deal of HP.
*I get no xp for lock picking.
*When Evalyn wakes up she stands on the bed, kinda funny :) Her shield looks great is it custom?
That's all I found, very minor things. I certainly would not consider this half to be in the beta stage, it's far more polished than some mods ever get. _________________________ Help is good when asked for,

Glory's here with an entry from my journal.
Possible Spoilers!
Kurita, have not come across any testy typos or grammar glitches, yet (other than an "empty?" unopenable chest in my room. Was it intended that I wouldn't be able to open that chest? Just curious, as I like opening or reading anything that glows in my line of sight).
Will continue to scan civilians and landscape as I explore the spacious grounds. Love the small community feel.
Cheers.

Checked it! Nada, though. Emailed myself from here to check, and got nothing, so either it takes a while or it's broken. I'll give it a few, if nothing happens I'll upload the readme with contact info as a separate file. _________________________ |<><><>The Tears of Ilmarid Campaign<><><>|
