Forgotten Realms Weave, single player, hack and slash.

Description
A single-player, first-level NWN2 module. The Zelbross Affiar can be characterized as a linear hack and slash, but there are role-playing options and some non-linear aspects. Six companions are available to choose from in assembling a maximum party of four (PC plus 3 companions). Multiple endings for "good" and "evil" and even something in-between. The module is relatively short (~4 hours), but your character will advance to level 3 or 4, depending on how thorough you are.
Zelbross is home to about 120 folk, mostly quiet farmers and craftsmen. Zelbross lies in the Delimbiyr region of the North, near the Sword Coast and can be found north of the High Moor and South of the High Forest, sitting between the Delimbiyr Route and the River Shining (aka the Delimbiyr). Its nearest neighbors are Secomber to the west and Loudwater to the East. This region is notorious monster territory and travel here is dangerous. Most folk stumble into Llorkh and Loudwater grateful that people actually dwell in the easternmost lands of the North.

070707 Update Fixes (SPOILERS):
* Fixed humanoid chiefs conversations so they fire if the PC clicks on them before they initiate dialogue.
* Reduced AC and HP of some of the creatures to lessen the difficulty slightly in final caves.
* Added a dialogue node to Redfinn for module finish.
* Changed looping water sounds to non-looping contiuous.
* Fixed static camera so when Odoms spawns into the dock house at the finale, he faces the camera.
052608 Update Fixes
* Removed Bear Totem from Zelbross Bridge
* Fixed ranger's head (in the tavern)
* Fixed floating trees in "The Hills."
Nice area design, no bugs, good writing, good balance and despite the hack'n'slash comments there were a fair amount of conversations and background info. Considering the amount of polish I'd say this mod is underrated. There are no groundbreaking innovations but it's very good at what it says it is.

Can't provide a super-in-depth analysis as it's a pretty straightforward Hack 'n Slasher. As it doesn't promise much more, I think that's a plus. HS modules are rarely (if ever) "groundbreaking" so I can't honestly give it over an 8 though. What can you really grade a HS module on? It said HS, I got what I expected and had fun. It was well-balanced, had very few (if any) spelling / grammar mistakes, and it was VERY well-polished. I wish more modders would polish their work as well as this one. Have to say I expected part of the ending, but there was a nifty plot twist along the way that was pleasantly surprising. I usually have something to add like "clean up the dialogue" or "fix the wall / door / etc." but that's not the case here. And that folks, is what "polish" is.

The quality and polish of the mod construction is flawless (as we can expect from Seryn, always great work). In the end, however, delivers exactly what it promises: short, low-level hack-slash dungeon crawl. Perfect if you're having trouble falling asleep.

Thanks Lariam! I'm just surprised it's still playable after so many patches! I guess simplicity has its benefits ;-)

if it got more Rp-elements, I would vote higher. _________________________ ::RAWR::

Actually, I think I need to raise my vote a bit. _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

I replayed this again (played the mod 3rd time all in all, that is). Just wanted to say that this really is one of my favorites of all the NWN2 mods. It's all somehow so natural and polished. Exciting, well-designed fights and dungeon-crawling. The dead stay dead. What writing there is is good. It all feels somehow so genuine. I guess that's the key. The locations, the characters, the writing, the plot - nothing overly "fancy" there, perhaps, but it works brilliantly. Thus the great immersion. So, thanks again. _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

Good module. Free of bugs. Polished areas. Balanced treasure and XP rewards. Challenging combat. A very solid module. Everybody with a first level character should play it at least once.

Solid low level module. In many ways, a well thought out and constructed module like this one is much more fun and interesting to play than some of the attempts at much larger things (I never understood what, for example, the "Tortured Hearts I" module did to deserve its rating, with its many bugs and total lack of plot focus). The tight story line makes for an interesting and fast-paced adventure. If this was to be the start of a series I would suggest more NPC interaction but as a short stand-alone adventure it is very well done.
