This is a translation (from french) of my first module for NwN2, uploaded 6 months ago.
It is a simple module in which you can do some of the main fights of Baldur's Gate 1(Davaeorn, Zhalimar Cloudwulfe ...). No plot or quests, only battles against NPC. You will find 114 NPC recreated as closed as possible from the original ones ( lvl, stats, hp, spell ...), gathered in 42 different encounters. By your side, you can have 3 of the 25 BG1 companions.
How it works :
- The module is made for a new character (lvl 1). You will get 100 gp at the beginning for your equipment. The encounters are intended to be done in the proposed order as the difficulty is increasing with it.
- There are 4 areas. In the first one, you will find all the companions, a store (speak with Taerom), and Gorion, with who you can choose an encounter. The encounters are classified in chapters as those of BG1. The 3 other areas contain the enemy you choose to fight with.
- Gorion : Speak with him to choose an encounter, he will indicate you a door (blue, green or brown), go to it to join the battle area.
- Companions : You can have 3 with you. Speak to them and accept their proposition to add them to your roster. Next, you can add them in the group when you open a door, or just by opening the roster UI in the esc menu. They have the same lvl as yours. Unfortunately, they are not multiclassed as in BG1.
- The battle areas : One is in exterior, one in interior, and one in a cave. In the exterior one, you have enough space to buff before the fight, but not in the 2 others. The exits bring you back to the entrance area with Gorion.
Leaving an area will destroy all it contains, NPC and items on the ground ! So you can't flee a fight and come later to finish it. be sure to Loot all you want before leaving.
- Difficulty : You can begin with a lvl 1 character, with all the encounters, you'll finish near lvl 10-11. Most of the first fights are quite difficult (even in 4vs1) and a good roll can be very important. After the fights of the 1st chapter, they're more easy, but some are though without good buffs.
- Death : As in the OC, if 1 survived, the others come back to life.
- enemies : Most are as in BG1. They drop all their equipment when dead. I add some heal spells to the clerics. Wizards cast the lvl 2 spell fear in the chapter 1 and 2, and then the lvl4 equivalent to increase the difficulty and pass the lvl limitation.
Have fun ! Noon
P.S: I apologize for any error in the texts, i'm not a pro in translating ;) .
Update 07/14/2007: Add a description for each companion with the race and class.

Thanks for your comment. For the issue you're reporting, i can't test it as my game crashes quite often since a few months. If you enjoyed it, i think you can give a try to the sequel, with fights from BG2, for lvl 8 to 20 and more - but there is only a french version (but it works the same way)- in the international modules "de vieilles rencontres 2".

Noon, I enjoyed this a good deal more than I expected, having read through the comments already posted. I think part of the problem is the presentation of it as a module, whereas really you should push it as a character training / hero building tool. I found it to be a much more fun way to construct a character as I always feel somewhat cheated by the simple process of talking to someone to choose how much XP I want. There are certainly some issues - language does not really seem to be a problem, but I was unable to re-load a save made after playing some of the encounters in chapter 2, which you might want to look into. Incidentally, for anyone who lost their character as a consequence and who is not sure how to recover it, just cut and paste the player.bic from the save file to your local vault (in my documents, where other player characters are stored) and rename it following the conventions by which other character files are named. ie Mellindor Janniseth would be mellindorjanniseth.bic. You will then be able to use the character again.
I think this type of nostalgia / training module could have a genuine future - I recalled all of these fights as I was a bit of a BG addict, so that aspect was not a problem. It would of course, be better if the areas did match those from the original settings, but to recreate, for instance, Beregost just for one encounter might be asking a bit much. Anyway, good luck with your work, and vive la France in the rugby!

It was much more boring then what I tyhough it would be. I think it might have been better to make each encounter a point on the map that you can click on. In this way each encounter can be made to actually look like the seting it took place. Always having he fights take palce in the same 3 settings was very much boring. Alos had issues was playing from a saved file after I got to chaper 2. Also where was the main battle I played this for? My half brother another son of Bhaal?

I've played the module and here is my more reasonous vote than the first one.
Module is not very interesting. Just 3 game locations. Similar fights. Not much of Baldur's Gate in real. Something like run-it-thru-until-u-gotta-sleep.
But on the other hand, it is the best module I have... for testing characters, viewing new hakpaks, and so on. Then, it is the best module in the do-not-think category. And then, it is very good while using Universal Companion Database mod.
In whole, I loved your work and wish you luck in the future works!

Although I liked the idea, this mod is given rather poor effort to area design etc., so that one could hardly remember the encounters of BG1 playing it.
Finally it has proven buggy - at least to me: couldn't load my save game after playing it thru to the end of Chapter 2.. 8-( _________________________ Aka Gront0307 - because of a second adress..;-)
I've added descriptions to every companions with race and class, as i didn't like to see the "Khalid(fighter)" in combat.
If i remember, chapter 7 is for lvl 11-13.
I will probably translate the sequel, with the fights of Baldur's Gate 2, in the next week.

1. Would be great.
2. Yes, I surely understand.
3. And chapter 7 - something like 12-15 level?
Thanks for you vote.
1: Indeed i can do that, and will update soon.
2: I remember having this idea one day, but i never tried it next. I will think about it, but i'm not sure to have time to spend on.
3: XP is just as i should, to keep the challenge. i would say chapter 1 is for lvl1-2, chapter2 lvl2-5, chapter3 lvl4-8, chapter 4 7-8 ...

1. It would make great to name all the characters, that can join us, according to their class. Like this: Name Name (Class), for example:
Leira Arbeiten (Ranger)
It would make the choice of a companion rather easy.
2. I understand its not easy and you won't do it... But still: it would be more interesting, if there would be two variants of walking thru.
a. As it now. Ask for a fight - go to the door - fight - return.
b. Non-stop action. Ask for a fight (in the sequence of fights) - go to the door - fight - go to the area transition to the next fight in the chain - fight - go to the area transition to the forthcoming fight in the chain - so on. And there must be an opportunity to return to the main roon at any time.
3. I haven't play much yet, but as it seems, we get to much XP for the fights... So the first-level character can't pass all the first-level fights being at the first level... Maybe I haven't caught something still..
By the way - this mod is good to use this Universal Companion Database. It's just a comment.

Adjusting vote.
I'll give more adequate vote when I'll play it thru. Seems interesting - such a nice hack'n'slash.
Thanks for trying ^^.
With 4 characters, Tarnesh is quite easy. But next Karlat is very difficult, but not invincible. Try the spells daze (wizard lvl 0) and/or doom (cleric lvl1), to beat him.
You can also select a higher lvl character and play some other battles, just for fun.
