Yes, this is a remake of the original NWN's OC. Or at least the start of it.
Original story, original characters, all in the improved graphics of NWN2.
BUT...there are some things I should note before I get anyone's hopes too high.
1) First off, this is my first module to make with the NWN2 Toolset, ever! Also, all my script programming is self taught, done by trial and error and observing existing scripts. I still haven't discovered everything that the NWN Toolset has to offer, but I gave this my best shot. Constructive criticism is welcomed, of course, and I'll probably be getting a lot of it. Some helpful tutoring would be welcomed as well wherever.
2) This is a Beta version. I Alpha tested this as a Human, Male Paladin, my favorite class, and things seemed to work out well enough. How it works with others, I'm not so sure. I did alter the scripts to make this module Warlock playable, and they seemed to work okay. Not certain at the time of release, however.
3) Don't expect this to play EXACTLY like the original. For example:
a) This module is NOT a tutorial. I'm assuming you already know how to play using the NWN2 controls.
b) I've eliminated all the lengthy tutorial conversations. Bim was pretty much all this, so he doesn't make an appearance.
c) Pavel is a fully controllable companion. He doesn't gain any exp or levels, but he'll be gone by the end of the mod.
d) Dismissing Pavel causes him to respawn at spot where you first joined up instead of where you dismissed him.
4) This is just the Prelude. The mod ends when you exit the Stables.
5) Some assembly required. Please follow the instructions in the readme. You'll also need your own copy of NWN1 in order to see the opening and closing movies. This is not meant to be a copyright challenge, so I won't be making everything availible online.
6) Lastly, don't expect a remake of Chapter 1 to be released anytime soon, and please don't ask me for an ETA, 'cause I don't know. I'm just one guy who's trying to start college, and I have enough pressure from real life as it is.
I hope you all enjoy taking this trip down memory lane as you explore the NWN Academy. Seeing Aribeth, Fenthick, Desther, and even Pavel, in a new way really brushed the dust of this personal favorite of mine. Hey, it was the first module I ever finished. That's got to count for something, right?
My thanks go out to Nytir for the excellent rendition of Aribeth's armor. To Cyric_the_Dark for the Yaun-ti reskin. And of course to the Bioware team for making the original NeverWinter Nights.
WARNING!!!
This module has two points where it auto-saves the game! If you want to keep your current auto-save file, say, one for another mod, back it up before playing!
=======================================
Update 01/05/08: Some bugs debugged, at the ones I figured out how to fix.
1) Pavel will speak more slowly when saying good-bye.
2) Olgerd has learned the wisdom of finishing a conversation before opening shop.
3) Herban has gotten over his predjudice of monks and now accepts them as fighters.
4) Ketta will no longer speak in the cryptic code of "repeat one thing and mean something else."
5) Desther advised Fenthick that they should put away their crossbows before speaking, and, of course, Fenthick listens.

Well done, although I'm sorry that this project is now abandoned, I do understand that it is just too much for a single person. It is however, a great idea and hopefully due to your work, someone will pick it up. But it is definitely something that several people need to engage in. Personally, I prefered HotU to all others, and not only because of (sigh) Valen Shadowbreath. Of all the NWN 1 2, this one is the only one with a great romance for females - and males for that matter - Nathyrra is nothing to sneeze at. Shame, really. I was not going to rate this high, but for various reasons, I felt compelled to do so. Thank you for putting out what you had done so far. Great effort, good work, and hopefully it is an inspiration for others to pick it up. All in all, thanks for a sweet glimpse of the NWN OC, NWN2 style.

"eyes bigger than the stomach" builder syndrome but surprised not. many too come to build with such unrealistic goals only come realize large amount of work that goes into making it happen. the nwn remakes, iwd, bg... list grows but end result is always same. 5 for more than one can chew effort.

Yeahhh. You more or less recreated the prologue of the first NWN with 99% accuracy. The problem is.. the NWN OC was pretty primitive and downright dull. Replaying this reminded me of that, only with better graphics. The simple and elementary design of the first game shows through in the second, which although somewhat nostalgic, makes me long for the story to be told in a more updated fashion. I understand you're not finishing this project, and I can't blame you. The OC is very long. But I voted a 10 based on the accuracy of this recreation, which is what I assume the point of it was.

I wonder can you can you import the voice files from NWN OC and put them in this campaign?

Hey, do you have any work-in-progress mods from chapter one you could send my way?

I was working on remaking HotU, but I will consider it. If anybody is willing to team up, I would appreciate it!
