Nice hack & slash module. The fights were challenging enough although the variety of the enemies wasn't high. In the end there were couple battles that even had tactical elements.
The story has some interesting turns but the module is too short for getting a clear image from the plot. There was this mysterious woman that Ergerz seemed to know, was she met in the first Deadening?
But overall fun way to kill time (and golems). I'd also like to ask one thing that was left little unclear to me:
A MAJOR SPOILER STARTS FROM HERE
After I destroyed The Master there was a mention about another evil behind this. Was it that mysterious lady and if it was how she was the evil behind this? And why the mysterious woman wanted to kill them?
A MAJOR SPOILER ENDS HERE _________________________ A good module author is PAG: Patient, Ambitious and Gutsy.
Thanks for the thorough review. You described all the strengths and weaknesses. I'm glad someone liked the areas and cutscenes. :)
Starting level is a minimum of 5. You get auto leveled to 5 if you start lower. The fast leveling was done on purpose. I tested it with a rogue so it will be easier for other classes.
Deadening 1 doesn't fill in the plot so don't worry about playing it. I like stories with unexplained creepy plots and I'm not a great writer. That is why the plot is the way it is.
I've played a few modules that don't have shops or equipment for rogues and wizards. I didn't want to make unique loot for all classes so I just had enemies give 200 gold on death and added a shop with base items for all classes. I thought this worked well for a short module. The large party also keeps the combat interesting without needing a lot of loot.
Module description is too short ingame. I'm on dialup so I won't upload it again to fix that. It takes a couple hours.

Dialogue - B
This module has very limited dialogue. But what is there is short, to the point, and intriguing. Perfect for a Hack and Slash.
Characters - B
You get a plethora of colorful companions that you meet along the way. While the classes arent outrageous by any means, their looks are all original and interesting.
Quests N/A
No quests really.
Overall Story - B
Not much story at all. This module is all about evoking atmosphere and setting up gigantic fights. There does seem to be some sort of a background story, but its only vaguely hinted at. It did make me want to play Deadening I, which I may do later.
Level Detail - A
Wow! Fantastic lighting, fantastic effects, fantastic atmosphere. There arent many areas, but the ones that are there, are clean, atmospherically lit, and beautiful.
Level Creativity - A
There are things here Ive never seen in another module, which is impressive. The outdoor areas are very linear, but very nice looking. The truly dark lighting is a huge plus.
Items C+
Very few items to be found. Interestingly, it appears killing enemies automatically gives you gold. Which is why I wasnt sure how much gold is in this module exactly.
There is also a humorous scene with a golem shopkeeper.
Enemies A
While those who have played MOTB have seen most of these monsters before, they are very creatively implemented. A water elemental becomes a grease monster, Clay Golems stand-in as various types of living statues. FX, tinting, and lighting are used to create a new monster experience.
Puzzles N/A
No Puzzles
Overall Balance
I think I played this at too high a level. I believe it is intended for level 3-4 characters. Still it was a lot of fun. The Experience for the monsters is probably too high, as even at level 5 I went up two levels playing it.
Bugs A
Super-clean, ultra polished. Although short, whats there is beautiful.
Grammar - A
Not much dialogue. Other than an awkwardly worded sentence, I didnt find any mistakes.
Overall Quality Assurance - A
Short Adventure, but the polish level is to the highest standards.
Overall Pluses:
*Fast-paced, action packed scenario.
*Original, challenging enemies who use interesting tactics.
*Very interesting and well-produced cinematics.
*Fantastic Level design
*Top-notch lighting.
Overall Constructive Feedback:
*Too Short!
*The story could have used a little more explanation/development.
*No Module description in-game. Clean up the module title, and put a recommended level in there!
Overall, great job. Hope this module gets more exposure.

A lot of fun! It was a good time for my paladin with his warhammer. I particularly liked the way you spawned creatures in with lightning. _________________________ Help is good when asked for,
Better when needed.
There isn't much story in this one. There is just a evil demon that manipulates people. Deadening 1 doesn't have any story. I'm going to try to have a more detailed story in deadening 3.
thanks for your vote. :)

I enjoyed this module, the monsters are well balanced but I didn't understand the story with Laura. But now I see this is deadening 2 so there might be a deadening 1. I'm going to search. Thanks
