Lute Hero is stand-alone teaser module for the upcoming final act of Dark Waters. You can practice your playing in Death's Domain, or venture across the afterlives to do battle with your mighty lute.

While I agree that Adam Miller is a genius, this is just not my style, it leaves the nwn, nay, the whole D&D world behind. Of course this is just my opinion. _________________________ Needles in the eyes!

I didnt really think this was 'groundbreaking', I thought the battles were quite good, even though I got stuck in hell because it glitched, but I just didn't like the lute bit much. It just seemed to have slow reactions sometimes(not caused by my pc, it is more than good enough to play this perfectly), and I would much rather be playing a campaign and fighting than playing this.

This little minigame was very entertaining :D Did pretty good on all the songs....completely mastered a handful...but Raivostunut parranleikkaaja completely slaughtered me lol, that one was just torture :D

clever and skillful but I felt more of a demo than a module
I played the version of this that was included in the Dark Waters full campaign pack, and my camera has been broken and unfixable ever since. It doesn't center back behind my character when I start moving, which has happened sometimes with various modules that include distortion effects like the dream-like cutscenes in Dark Waters, however, those usually fix if I exit Neverwinter and run the game again. This one does not do that, and it doesn't 'fix' if I switch camera types, or put it on follow when turning in place, or anything. It's really quite annoying, and I'd rather not reinstall. I loved Dark Waters, but is such a debilitating and permanent bug really worth it for a laggy Guitar Hero minigame?

whats there is clever and original and done mostly quite well. just a bit small/short ...

This is interesting. It sure has a lot to it, except...what's done isn't done very well. Yes the mechanics are some what ground breaking, but also not. The fact that a dialog box sits hidden behind the little display causes issues. It takes a massive drain on the even most powerful machines, and it has a tendency to lack.
The idea and mechanics are in fact ingenious, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I don't think it deserves a 10, even if it is only a demo. The mechanics still lack the execution needed for a 10 rating in my opinion. _________________________ Oh yeah! My computer is running SEX! *Pelvic Thrust*

Wonderful mod. If there were only more tunes and more stages, it's always over waaay too soon. ^^
A minor problem would be TonyK's AI mod. No matter what I set from within the game, as long as TonyK's AI remains in my override folder, the character will break the "play music" action, and attack on its own, thus unable to hit the notes.
9.5 from me. I liked all the voice overs except the one from stage #2. The lady got a sweet voice, but the audio quality was... uhm... not good.

I give this an indefinent rating of 10, but is there supposed to be another afterlife after Valhalla? after i kll the mobs there nothing happens... theres no doors, the portals do nothing, and im just stuck there...
Is there supposed to be more? _________________________ Whoever appeals to the laws against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward...

yep. incredible. though not a real MOD, still it was worth the time and and a surreal addition to NWN2.

He'll be a LUTE! BOX! HERO! with stars in his eyes!
ack, okay; having the same problem as rabbit down below.
i equip the lute. i use the lute. the camera 'henchman' is created, i presume thats so when i hit the numbers 1-4 i dont equip my different weapons in that slot.
okay, the interface shows down the side. my practice song icon appears on the right, and a quality selector (btw, i cannot seem to select 'low' on it).
it says click the song icon you want to play, then when it starts, press the numbers as it scrolls. however, when i click the song icon.... nothing happens :/
Has anyone had a problem with the module not showing up in the modules list. I've installed and uninstalled lutehero several times, and the files seem to be going in the appropriate folders (it is hard to be certain, due the volume). Other modules install fine and show up, but lutehero refuses to cooperate.
Any ideas?
Some possibly relevant information: I am running on vista 64bit, and I am using a Direct Download version of NWN2/MOTB.

I dowloaded this ages ago but registered just now. It is fantastic. Shame that the scripting goes a bit a points. Sometimes you can't move and get to the next afterlife, but fun, fun and more fun =)!

Oustanding fun and perhaps the most creative use of the toolset I've yet seen for NWN2.

it already is sad day for nwn2 modders because already the #1 on the hof is not a mod robbybobber so lute hero wont make a diff

I vote 7, cos this ain't a mod. It's a mini-game and nothin more. Worth a look, but doesn't deserve straight 10s. When this sits on the top of the HoF, it'll be a sad day for NWN2 modders.

Excellent system with only a few bugs
-Songs sometimes end before time
-Unable to play songs while in combat(again this only happens sometimes).

Extremely well done; I can't believe you pulled this off as a NWN2 mod.
With that said--I'm wondering if anybody else found that the syncing of the notes with the music was just the tiniest bit off? It seems like the notes in the fretboard UI consistently ran ~1/2 beat ahead of the music, which made the experience a little bit more jarring (and less satisfying) than it should have been. And I don't think it was a lag issue; it behaved the same way on both high and low quality, and on every song. Could just be my setup, though, since I didn't see any other mention of the problem in the comments.
Anyway, you get a 10+ for the idea and the execution (which is simply amazing). Time to download Frets on Fire again...

After this mod I think it's official that Adam Miller is a G E N I U S.

-10 for having my 4 and 13 year old discovering how cool NWN2 is compared to console gaming. Times -1 for no journal entries[=10]. Well that just proves you guys are geniuses or maybe you sold your souls or something. You singlehandedly redeemed Atari, who I hope are looking at this because it is no fad.
Truly Great intro game.
