This is an educational proof-of-concept module, the second release from the New Nexus Project (http://newnexus.org). Its purpose is to demonstrate the efficacy and benefits of using virtual world authoring software for learning.
This particular piece is meant to be a complementary experience to reading the classic British medieval poem/story.
As with most New Nexus demo mods, it is best used not simply as a stand-alone experience but in conjunction with a teacher's questions/discussion.
The module includes an introductory area that we have started tacking on to the front of all our modules so that students new to NWN2 can learn to use the interface quickly.
For more information on the project (and/or to help!), please see our website, Link .
Thanks to Barry the Hatchet for creating a wonderful custom version of Gawain's shield. Thanks also to all the NWN2 Forum folks who have helped us with questions!
There are two needed zip files: the mod file and a hak file. Both are now numbered beta8-1 for their version.

NOTE: It is designed to be used with a level 1 fighter.

This Module was honestly a disapointment. The concept is fantastic both in a module designed to help students immerse into a subject more fully then simple lecture and in selecting Sir Gawain and the Green Knight which is without question one of the finest pieces of classic Arthurian literature (as its recomendations of Joseph Campbell's work and White's classic "The Once and Future King as further reading). The problem is in execution. The module is largely uninspired and fails to engage the player in its predictable moral choices. Further the areas are difficult to navigate a few appropriately placed map pins (or even making the area the player can move through open instead of a narrow and invisible path). Also the combat is scaled badly for a first level character (I ran a first level fighter and died multiple times at the hands of the ogres and ghosts for example) while I realize combat is not the point of this module its important that if its involved at all that it should not be frustrating (which may make a student lose interest). Also and perhaps worst of all the module has little to nothing to do with the story of Gawain and the Green Knight. I would think either turning the story into a module (which might itself appeal to students who are more visually oriented letting them see the events as well as read the text) where the player plays as Gawain or at least sticking to challenges and themes more clearly tied to the tale itself (for example the seduction of Gawain is a major part of the story and his acceptance of the girdle is fundamental to his failure of the challenge the knight proposes yet the game does not touch on any of this). In the end its unfortunate that such an inspired concept failed to deliver.
Oh this is awsome, i havent played it yet, but i read the story of Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, only a matter of time till someone makes a Bewolf mod :p
OK, I'm uploading the beta 8.1 version, which should replace the 7.2 version. -And, to my embarrassment, I'm also adding the (needed) hakpak. Sorry to waste anyone's time who tried to play it w/o the hak.
Looks interesting. Can you tell us which of the two beta version files should be used and what their differences are? Currently there's a beta 6 and a beta 7-2 file listed.
