The road stretches out before you, and your next destination beckons. Along the way is a small village called Riverstop that will provide a good break from the weary journey. If you keep your eyes open, there may be a chance to make some gold. If you're lucky, you might just live to spend it
This module was designed as a starter adventure for new DMs and is intended to be a companion to the DM 101 for NWN2 tutorial module released by the DMFI (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2ModulesEnglish.Detail&id=296). However, it can be run equally well by experienced DMs and players.
This module can stand alone, or can be a side quest for a larger campaign. The players begin on a journey and stay the night at a small hamlet, Riverstop, that needs their help. Ideally it can be dropped into any environment and any campaign. The only real reference to the Forgotten Realms is the statue of Chauntea in the center of the town.
The module is designed for low-level characters (between levels 1 and 4). Depending on DM and player actions, it should provide 2 to 3 levels of game play. A party with a DM should expect somewhere between 6 to 10 hours of play, but a DM testing this should be able to complete it in under 3 hours.
DMs should download the full asatw_v1_00.rar file, but players will only need the asatw_players_v1_00.rar.
I'll look into scaling the final battle better. Can you tell me what the group looked like by the end? I'm guessing it was the main villain who had too powerful of spells?
Can you let me know which transitions were causing the whole party to go? Most of the doors, etc., should not have the "Party Transition?" flag set. Are there specific transitions you are talking about, or are these doors not working correctly?
If you have any more specific suggestions, let me know.
Thanks again!

I recently enjoyed playing through this module with a few mates with one of them as DM. The plot wasn't complicated (which suits me) and most of the encounters were well balanced, except for the final encounter that was a little over the top and smashed most of the party.
The swamp area was well made, I loved it. Most areas were well laid out, but there are several walkmesh quirks (mostly in the swamp) and a couple of the sound effects in internal maps repeat too regularly, sounding like the proverbial stuck record.
The party transitions were annoying. You should consider converting them to transition only the single PC as it is a multi-player mod.
Overall it is an enjoyable, solid module. Thanks for taking the extra effort to make a multi-player module. I hope your next module is MP too. _________________________ Barry The Hatchet Custom Content

It's great to see you've released a mod - I hadn't noticed that before. I'll certainly try to give this a look in case a no-DM-required version shows up! That is: when it shows up. :)

I DM'd an earlier version of the module over at Neverwinter Connections with a party of level 2 PCs. The adventure was enjoyed by all and featured balanced combat, a mystery to solve, several interesting areas to explore, and a number of interesting NPCs. Our group spent around 10 hours completing it.
While it was designed to complement the DM 101 tutorial mod, 'A Stop Along the Way' stands alone quite well.
It should also be noted that the DM documentation is outstanding, anyone interested in DMing should check it out.
A DM is highly encouraged. Playing solo or with a group with no DM will probably be disappointing. The default scripts and conversations are meant for someone thinking of DMing this to get a sense of how the game works. Future versions might not require a DM. Feedback is, of course, welcome.
