Swords & Sorcery is an old-school action/fantasy game, designed to be completed in a short, single play session and to be replayable. Players must make their way from the Kings Castle through the forest to rescue the kidnapped Princess from the Necromancer's Tower. They must then return her safely to the castle in order to receive their reward.
A variety of random encounters are possible and the encounters scale by PC level, so the game will be at least somewhat different each time it is played.
The module is designed for both single player and multiplayer, with additional and harder encounters featured in multiplayer as of version 1.1 (now available). Special features for DM'd play include full control over the encounters and NPCs provided with the game.
The module download package includes separate player and DM guides. The DMFI Tools hak (available as a separate download on this page) is also required to play.
See the player/DM guides for module credits and resource links, including prefabs and the original artwork by MLPeters.
Suggested level range is now 6-12.
Designer note: inspiration for this module was taken from the old "Swords and Sorcery" BASIC game.
The only add-on required is the DMFI Tools hak, which is provided here for download as well. Make sure you uncompress the hak file to the NWN2 hak directory, per the directions in the included Player Guide.
Version 1.1 is now available for download. Based on further playtesting, the following changes were made:
-- Added additional multiplayer encounters. The additional encounters can also be activated via in-game conversation for extra single-player challenge.
-- Increased encounter difficulty in several places.
-- Increased variety of monsters in several encounters.
-- Fixed minor issue with the Princess' conversation.
-- Updated Player and DM guides.
Version 1.1 of the module, incorporating various tweaks and multiplayer improvements, has been uploaded and is awaiting association with this download page. I'll post a more detailed list of changes when it's available.
Thanks for the comments. I'm planning to tweak some balance issues a bit later in December and upload a revised version, since right now it's tough (but doable) for SP, but on the easy side for a MP party.
