This module is to explore and test the viability of using the Overland Map system over a body of water.
The proof of concept requires using the ships/boats as the PC avatar, handle ship to ship combat and randomly spawning islands.
In addtion I want to leverage the NESS system in the OL map and expand it to use the new Obsidian encounter system. I'm maintaining a blog of the development at: Link
Small demo module with all the scripting/assets needed to take each ship out for a spin. I've removed everythign except for the bare bones needed so it's easier for modders to see what I've done.
This iz a zip file containing model tweaks for most of the standard NWN2 Ships. (they face "backwards" in the standard models). In addtion I have prefabbed visual effects for all 7 ships (and a rowboat) that can be used to create ship creatures.
Hak (can extract to override as well) for the Storm of Zehir Overland Map UI (frame and buttons). Just put it in your hak directory and attach it to your module.
Well, it brings us a bit closer. I've gone through the thought process on it. (in fact a war campaign was one of the options I was considering for a proof of concept, but went with vehicle travel instead)

is it possible with the overland map to have RTS like combat?

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks for including the scripts. I'm using a slightly modified version of your system for my PW, and it seems to be working nicely so far.
