This is a test module, which features a number of small areas within a beautiful garden. There is some combat involved and you must kill the Kobold leader as soon as you reach level 2. Find weapons and potions that will help you along the way. Enjoy!

Although I'm not very keen on no-story adventures the beautiful outside area was just enchanting. Combat was little unbalased, at least in D&D Hardcore rules (thank the gods for respawn).
Look at that, now The Garden is able to be in NWN2 TOP Modules list. Congratulations! _________________________ A good module author is PAG: Patient, Ambitious and Gutsy.

One area (heavily modified...) from this module may be used in my Greyhawk Adventures: Northern Ulek campaign series of modules. Thanks.

Could do with more info set in the module description. LevelMin 1, LevelMax 1, etc.

I agree with Zonzai as far as compression formats go. When it comes to efficiency, ease of use, and market saturation I'd have to say that 7-zip trumps the competiion at the moment (plus it's a Free standard, too). It's really the 'Firefox' of compression formats.
Anyway, to the module! I found myself thinking to myself not so long ago that I needed a pretty place with which to take screenshots. I rather enjoy character building so that's something I sorely lacked and I wanted to do it away from the OC which everyone knew anyway. This looks like just the ticket and exactly what I'd been looking for, thanks!

Well, good work for the work to do in this kind of mod. :) with lot of scenarii in your mod that can be better (just add a little guy who sayd somthing and give you a quest) that will change everything.. but that was a good time of hack&slashing. :) Hope to cya soon with a greater mod ++ _________________________ Link <== free tournaments for everyone.
Like I said, Gallowglass, it was a test module. I made it just to start learning the new tools that came with the map editor. However, thanks for the comments anyhow. I just hope that someone out their will use the new tools to their fullest potential. So far I'm a little disappointed from what I seen uploaded so far. I hope to see some real high quality work in the near future.

I thought that it was a good, tough level for a first level character. I think that the items were not overpowered for this module, in fact even with the strongest items I still needed to roll a 17 or higher to hit some of the monsters (fighter). I like that because it makes items like potions of aid and similar buffs suddenly very helpful. I felt like it was an old paper D&D game with constant rolling trying to get a high number. It was refreshing.
I liked the outside area specifically, but I noticed the pond problem and the door to nowhere. Also at some edges there was only flat terrain outside the area which detracts from the beauty of the outside area itself.
I like journal entries which unfortunately were missing. I also felt like I collected a bunch of stuff for nothing since there was no merchant.
I do have a quibble with two other issues, but I believe that they are problems inherent in the game itself and not easy to detect except after extensive playtesting. The first is pathfinding. There are two barrels next to each other outside. My character kept walking into the first barrel while trying to get to the second one. I could only get to it by starting 180 degrees around from where I tried before. Also the alchemist's workbench had a weird issue. When approaching from the left front my character would get stuck with legs moving but not going forward. This was about 3 - 4 character lengths (6-7 halfling lengths) from the bench. The floor is empty in that area however, so I don't know why he got stuck.
The second issue is when the goblin archers were shooting at me. I would run behind a boulder and even with the boulder directly between me and and archer I would still get hit as if there was no boulder. I don't know if that is an unfixable problem with the game itself or if you can mark an object as solid in the toolset. The boulder was big enough that I should have had 100% concealment, but even if I was only peeking around the corner it should be 90% concealment. I am not aware of the game engine using concealment bonuses based on objects or barricades, however, so I don't know it there is anything that you can do about it. It would be nice, however, to be able to hide behind a boulder when one presents itself.
Winzip sucks indeed. 7 zip the best file compression software out there at the moment. _________________________ NWN2 Voting Standards - Tattoo it on your forehead.

I agree with "The Ridge". There are 2 floating rocks and you can take a complete dive in the pond.
The encounters are a bit hard for first level chars. I died several times with my lvl 1 ranger
you can use winrar to create split archives so it's easier to upload and download them.

I'll echo what others said, not a bad effort. Im sure it let you get familiar with the toolset, so I guess it achieves what it intended. Liked the outside area, thought that was well done. Encounters were quite hard, but without the death penalty, i got there in the end. You might want too add some more music though. Im sure you'll go onto make bigger things. _________________________ - Doyleyboy

I hope the community adapts to using winRar or something instead of zip, because it can cut down the file size a fair bit. For instance i managed to get the compression size down to 11.9Meg on this module. Which is good 18-20% smaller. This percentage will obviously means more signifcant savings on the (inevitable) larger modules. Havent played your module yet, but will give it crack and let you know what I think. _________________________ - Doyleyboy

This is the first Time that I have used the tools for NWN2. So I'm sure that there are a number of flaws. Thanks for your comments though, I'm grateful for them. One thing that did notice when I created this simple module, is it's insane file size. I can easily imagine a full size quality module being somewhere around 50 to 100megs. Anyhow, if there is a way to upload portions of a module to the vault, where each player could download each portion and connect them together somehow. I would like to know how to do this, before I start working on my next module.

This is a nice effort by, David Z.
My score is based on the new "standards". Its a good, solid, effort I think others may also enjoy.
Feedback:
The exterior area is well done, with the exception of some floating rocks in a few places and the pond edge in the NW corner of the map (between the kobold cave and house) not lining up cleanly with the shoreline. Also the house had a side door that you could open but lead to nowhere. Maybe a cellar could be added with a surprise encounter?
Combat was challenging for my level 1 fighter and I found myself dying a few times due to unlucky crits. Since there was no death penalty in place I just shrugged off the deathblows and finished off the bad guys.
Some of the loot seemed a bit extravagant, +3 dagger and a + 2 piece of armor and light shield seemed a bit too much but this is my personal take on it, other's may like the generous drops.
Overall this does exactly what the module description says. A fun little romp to test your newly created PC characters. _________________________ NWN2 Voting Standards

Not too bad - I ended up fighting the Kobold leader at level 1 and had a tough time of it - he went done eventually though! - 2 nice areas - spot on for first level characters. _________________________ Only the good die young - All the Evil seem to Live Forever
