Platform: Windows Format: Digital Download (disc version available in Poland from CD Projekt and in Russia from Akella) Release Date: April 29, 2009 Developer: Ossian Studios Inc. Publisher: Atari Category: Official Release
Basic Story Line:
The storyline begins with the player seeking to rid themselves of a cursed object, one that haunts their dreams and threatens their very sanity. After learning from an old sage that the object is inextricably linked to the nefarious organization known as the Night Masks, the player catches the next ship to Westgate in the hopes of uncovering the cure to the curse. Soon afterwards, the player is drawn into a vicious street war between factions. Players must choose their allegiance in order to break the curse and ultimately uncover a plot that threatens Westgate itself. The story begins on the 30th day of Marpenoth (October in our calendar), 1372 DR - sometime after the most recent documented events within the region.
Mysteries of Westgate has been designed to provide a balanced experience for all character races, classes, and alignments. As the module is very role-play-focused, classes with varied skills such as bards and rogues will, in some situations, have an easier time of it than melee-orientated classes. Conversely, characters with strong martial skills may have an easier time overcoming the terrifying array of enemies pitted against them, should combat prove inevitable. Paladins, and priests of good deities, may have a small advantage against the more fiendish or unholy enemies in the game.
We wanted to make alignment a real factor in Mysteries of Westgate. Most modern RPGs allow the player a certain amount of freedom, but draw the line at anything that will really affect the outcome of the story, funneling the player down a certain path as a story reaches its climax. While we appreciate the advantages of this approach, we wanted to do something more, to empower the player to make the choices a real chaotic evil character might. Therefore, in Mysteries of Westgate, actions have huge consequences. Whether the player is the scourge or savior of the city is ultimately up to them.
PRODUCT FEATURES:
A 15+ hour campaign of high adventure with multiple paths and endings for players to choose from - an ideal role-playing experience!
Non-linear gameplay with plenty of sidequests to uncover and solve in different ways, including class-specific options.
Well balanced so that even the weaker player classes, like bards, will have a fun time.
4 new creatures including the wererat and quelzarn.
A new Sewer tileset used to create the seedy underbelly of Westgate, with tunnels, vaulted ceilings, rusty pipes, deep pools, and bridges.
25 minutes of hauntingly beautiful new music from composer David John.
Hundreds of lines of new, professional quality voice-over.
Mysteries of Westgate requires the original Neverwinter Nights 2 to play, but is also fully compatible with both the Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir expansion packs, allowing players to use the new classes, races, and other features from these games (expansions are not required to play Mysteries of Westgate).
Is there a reason why I cannot open the "Mysteries of Westgate" modules with my toolset? You guys had some scripts in there I wanted to use, so I was a bit dissapointed when I could not open the modules. :(

Hi, Alan, thanks for replying so soon. I tried it, result is always the same, maybe you could tell me which script should be ran in order for this guy to spawn? (I'll run it manually from within the game via rs command).

Hi ivan38rus. It does sound like some glitch prevented the villain from spawning. After walking a little into the room, a floor trigger should trigger a cutscene. Now that you've cleared out your override, instead of just trying to re-enter the room, try reloading an earlier save game (prior to doing the altar riddle) and playing from that point to see if entering the room triggers the cutscene to happen. If that doesn't work, possibly reinstalling MoW will do the trick.

I downloaded MOW last week from direct-to-download and I am having trouble with the feats for my Swashbuckler. He got weapon finess but not Grace, Swashbuckler Dodge or Insightful strike on level up. I tried to add the feats manually using the Debug mode but it says "Could not find Feat ID 2137" (or 2141 and 2143). I also imported a swashbuckler I already had and he didn't have the feats either. I checked on my other campaigns and the feats are still working there I cleared out my overide and it is still not working. Can anyone help with this?
"in a while"? :P Meh, ye guys told us that months ago! We demand a sequel! Or something else excellent. Loved MoW, replayed it several times, never get bored :)

@Hangman's Joke - I'm glad you enjoyed playing MoW! No, I don't think that Mysteries of Westgate Part II is in the cards at this point. I admit, it would be interesting to find out what happens with Orbakh's schemes for the Dragon Coast in 4e, over 100 years later. As for what exactly Ossian is working on now, you'll just have to sit tight ? there'll be some news in a while. :)

Hey everyone! Do you have some news to tell us? Is there going to be a sequel? I hope so.. because I wish to know what Orbakh plans for Westgate and Amn :) What has become of Mantides, Rinara and Charissa? Questions over questions hehe. I still have Mysteries of Westgate here... and I really enjoyed it.

@jhp You can't have romances with any of the companions. Because that would have complicated the approval process with WotC, we decided to avoid them for MoW.

Hi Onesimus, I'm sorry we didn't reply to you earlier. Ossian's official support forums for MoW are on our website (just like BioWare's were for their NWN1 premium mods) and it's the best way to get help from us. This NWVault page is was mainly created for distributing MoW's assets and letting fans vote. The link to our website is installed under your Start Menu when you install MoW, so you can click on that link. We have no idea why you're having lockups. I believe this is the first time I've heard of such a problem with MoW. It could be a corrupted assets (script, art, etc.) either with NWN2 or MoW. I would recommend first you try a reinstall of MoW, and if that doesn't work, you do a reinstall of NWN2 (and any expansions you have and the 1.23 patch), followed by a reinstall of MoW.
