This is a version 1.0 release of the book system Im working on for A Land Far Away. Anyone that would like to make use of it or extract the scripts to a hak please feel free to do so.
The books allow PCs to read and write books in game in 27 different languages using 14 different alphabets each using their own individual font.
The Languages that are Currently supported include:
The books make use of the DMFI Language system to only allow PCs to read or write languages they are fluent in.
The books also include dynamic picture support. Players can display any .tga file located in their My documents\UI folder as a page simply by typing the name of the picture and which page to put it on. This can be very handy for in game manuals and easy customization.
Instalation:
Instalation instructions are located in the readme file.
Unfortunatly I have found no way to include a modified version of the fontfamly.xml file in the hak so in order for the books to work a modified version of the file must be placed in the atari/neverwinter nights 2/UI/Defaults folder. Please make a back up of this file before installing. The modified version of fontfamily.xml should be the exact same as the official nwn2 version but with extra information to tell it that new fonts exist.
Several different lengths of hamlet are available to try along with an old player manual for A Land Far Away. In order to open the book simply use it on your character. To get to the options menu right click on it and to close it double left click on it I hope you enjoy it and thanks for trying it out!
Also ... The parser can take a bit of time to work but eventualy Id like to try to convert the in game parser to an out of game c program that will store the page starts more like how the picture pages are stored...
Thanks everyone for the positive feed back I worked long and hard to try deliver something interesting to the community and apreciate the feed back and votes. Polyp I understand your frustration in how things can often be miscategorized I entered this under modules because it isnt yet a hak or realy script or realy gui it makes use of all those things but categoricly isnt if I had the time to properly extract and make the hak then it would be but right now between work and life i just didnt have the time but wanted to put the content i made out there.
Why, in the name of all that is holy, do authors continue placing non-modules in the Modules section of the Vault? This is cool and all, but it's not a stinking MODULE. It's a Hak or a Plugin or Other, maybe even UI.
