Zombie Fest is a strategic survival horror module that challenges players to survive a Zombie Apocalypse with minimal resources. It is based on the board game Zombie Town, but of course has that DnD element that makes it unique.
Players begin with minimal equipment based on their class and they are thrown straight into the action without warning (yes, you will be stripped of ALL gear!). While the object of the game is to simply survive long enough to escape, the means are much more involved and vary depending on the players' style.
The town is small and laid out very simply (it is based more on function rather than realism). A graveyard sits right in the middle, while twelve buildings surround the town's boundary. Zombies will spawn at the graveyard every game-hour and they will spawn in greater numbers as more players join the fun and as time passes by. Additional undead creatures can spawn in some cases, but I won't spoil the surprise. ;)
Each building has a specific function and can supply the players with an assortment of goodies. Supplies are generally purchased using Supply Tokens which can be acquired from loot chests and skeleton corpses. Each building also has a narrow point of entry, allowing the players to place barricades using Barricade Tokens to plug the gaps and keep the zombies out. Barricades can be upgraded using additional barricade tokens. Buildings and supply are not enough however, so the players may even summon survivors using Survivor Tokens. Survivors act as party members and can be equipped with whatever gear you happen to find or make for them.
Once you've bashed your way out of town, you must make your way to the safety of the fort via a dangerous forest path. At the end, you will be able to peacefully finalize your character so that they are ready for the next module.
Zombie Fest is a simple module, but the possible functions make for an interesting session. It is a great way of building new characters so that they are ready for higher-level adventures without that horrible sensation of using shortcut modules and cheats to get you there. As a result, it is recommended that you begin play with new level 1 characters. A good Zombie Fest session should last about 30 minutes, but could potentially go on for hours. It is designed with cooperative multiplayer in mind, but singleplayer and PvP are definitely interesting.
I hope at least someone enjoys it; it's been in the making for over a year now.
Regards,
Disordah.

Fun little mod, neat concept. Got spanked on round one, once I figured out how to manage NPCs it became interesting. I used a Warlock the second time though, that probably made it too easy. The Dead Walk summoned me mighty tanks at will, and Flee the Scene is godlike when you're leading a platoon. Was much tougher with a Monk.
Some refinement and extension to more challenging undead and this could make an interesting arena/team/whatever server. _________________________ Current project: Revamp of Anphillia 2 for NWN 2
Thanks for the vote and feedback, much appreciated.
The module wasn't really built with saved games in mind; it is intended to be run through in a single session. Still, I'll make sure my next module takes saved games into consideration.
Yes, the cemetery gates are functioning as intended. Destroyable, but also lockable.
The necromancer spawns the skeletons. If you take him out, there'll be no more skeletons. This has its pros and cons, but really he's just there for something else to do other than dodge zombies the whole time.
I'll consider adding some more survivors with some alternative classes, but they'll probably be restricted to fighters and rogues due to the simplicity of the town they are based in.
Keep the feedback coming, it'll only help me make better modules in the future.

Hello !
I had fun with your mod !
But I have to notify you a couple of things.
Maybe SPOILERS !!!!
When I load a saved game, my character loses all his gear, like a starting game (with short sword and studded leather armour).
The golems don't seem to fight back when they are attacked. The zombies just destroy them after a certain time.
The cemetary gates are destroyable (at least: with a fireball or en explosible arrow...) ! Too bad for keeping zombies locked !...
Who is the necromancer ? I killed him but nothing special happened after that...
This module is good, original and interesting. The few regrets I have are: the bugs I explained earlier (with the gear and the saved games, and with the golems), the town design which could be improved without lessening the fun of the mod, the fact that every companion you recruit is a warrior (I already played a warrior so it's a little complicated for the healing spells or place traps...), etc.
Oh ! One last thing: if you wanna quickly make money, buy supply tokens at the warehouse, exchange them for a large quiver of arrows at the fletcher's, go back to the warehouse to sell them ! ;-)
Thank you for your mod ! I had a fun time ! :-)
Bye,
Jeum.

Starts out slow, but gets overwhelming very quickly... Have played the boardgame, and it is a fairly inspired recreation in a fantasy settings. So yeah. Overwhelming hordes of undead. :D
