Update 5/9/11: v1.19 - Fixed conversation bug; corrected more spelling/writing errors.
Update 5/2/10: v1.16 - Added a starter area and basic equipment for new characters. Fixed a misleading dialogue response.
---------------------------------------
The follow-up to "Humble Beginnings," "Lowena" is a single player mini-module.
This mod is part two of a series of mini-modules designed to be played as filler between larger adventures. Though small and simple in themselves, together they will form a larger story about the Player and a powerful Enchantress.
"Lowena" is designed for characters of level 5-6, of any race or class. It is assumed that you use the same character you created for "Humble Beginnings." A starter area is provided for new characters to level up. Make sure spellcasters rest before starting the module proper, as there is combat at the very beginning. Enough starting equipment is provided to get you through the first encounter; a merchant is available for more complete outfiting after that.
There are four possible resolutions, some which require combat, some which don't. The rewards vary according to how you resolve the dilemma, so choose wisely!
I have tested this mod with a level 5 paladin and a level 5 wizard. Thanks to some good feedback in the comments, i think I've fixed all the bugs and spelling errors, so consider this the final version. Let me know in the comments or via email PM on the Bioware Social Network (Jezla)if you find anything I've missed.
Arkalezth, glad you enjoyed it. There should be a basic weapon in the sack next to the player in the inn, as well as some gems that can be sold to the merchant in Garmish to buy more equipment. _________________________ Jezla

Just a small detail: you could add some basic equipment (some weapon mainly) at the starting inn.
The prequel module only takes a few minutes so playing it before shouldn't be a problem, but someone may skip it and find his/her character fighting unarmed.

Very nice. Length apart, it has everything a good module needs, and I've enjoyed it more than other, longer ones. Hope to see more of your work soon.

Darant - Thanks for the comment and the vote. There is a point to having the enchantress in these mini-mods, which will become clearer as the series progresses (if it ever does :P ). I am planning a longer mod, but so far I've not done anything in the toolset with it. Oh, and I'm a he, sot a she! ;)
Also, I've just uploaded an update correcting the last (I hope) of the spelling errors and adressing the convo issue that Oceanborne pointed out. It should be available soon. _________________________ Jezla

A nice little mini-adventure. The variety of choices is excellent for role-playing. I do believe the author hamstrings herself by insisting on submissions involving the enchantress. The mini-mods in themselves could be her trademark.
Oceanborne - Thanks for the comments and the vote! I thought I'd got all the spelling errors, thanks for pointing those out.
By seige, do you mean during the cut scene? The soldiers' positions may actually vary with each viewing, as they fight because they belong to opposing factions, rather than scripted commands.
I'll also look into the other bug you mentioned. _________________________ Jezla

One more thing: Once you *SPOILER* speak to Horatio and Lowena, if you choose to speak to Garm, do so and return, if you speak to Lowena and ask her if she'll tell you something, you get warped back to Garmish even though you've already spoken to Garm.

Fanguard Interior definitely has pink curtains in the first room you enter.
Noticed a couple spelling errors - nothing egregious, but in a module this well-written the couple that remain are noticeable; the statues in front of the Causeway have one instance of 'Causway' and the Commoner dialogue has a 'simpe' instead of 'simple'.
Also, if you *SPOILER* allow Horatio and Lowena to elope, the soldiers in the ensuing siege are so close that they're playing kissy-face. It's pretty lol, actually.
Thanks, Justicar. I do eventually plan to complete a series of 5 or so short mods about the Adventurer and the Enchantress. Each one will be very short, but when they're all done and released, I'll combine them in a special package.
I am planning a separate project that should be a few hours long, but so far it's still on the drawing board. _________________________ Jezla

Jezla9,
Much better than your 1st but still way too short, even for a mini/take a break Module. Everything worked and all looks good. Do a longer one. or, if this is your gig, keep them going and package them together as an Intro to NWN2 for Newbies! _________________________ "You take a look around and you see that the law is there only to protect power. I have played this twice more to different endings and enjoyed the outcomes.
Thus I have upped my vote a little.

Things moved along well, didn't see any pink curtians.
Might be just a bit longer, and still fullfil the quanity of being short
I finished this module. Cannot vote on it, since it's very short! However, solid and bug-free. Multiple endings and so on.
The only negative critique, would be that use more shrubs and grass in exterior areas. Perhaps blend some other mountain/rocky terrain with the white cliffs :)
Where are the pink curtains? On the lower level of the Keep or the bedroom? The lower level ones are purple on my machine.
Which convo did you have the problem on? I can look at it and adjust the node delay.
I would like to have an extended story line, but I'm not really that great of a storyteller. Plus, the goal is to keep the mods short and simple. Episode three will have more of the series story developed. _________________________ Jezla

I enjoyed this module and I would recommend others try it.
I played a Paladin and I had a bug free ride. In all I think it took about half an hour.
The story is simple but is enhanced by the fact that it plays out to several endings. The combat was maybe a little too easy. I only had one combat and did not take a hit but perhaps that was luck. The cut scene at the end adds an air of mystery to the whole thing which I enjoyed.
The areas are well put together. I particularly liked the causeway. The interiors were also nice though I am not a fan of pink curtains myself.
Closest to a bug for me is the point where the character is asked for the his/her opinion. Clicking to move the npc line on also selected one of the options before I had a chance to read them. This led to a very un-Paladin like ending for me.
To me, the care taken in the areas and cut scenes maybe would merit an extended story line, thus making better use of the effort that has clearly gone into creating the module.
Overall a good way to spend half an hour.
