The land north of the Moonsea is a treacherous place. With the great plains of the Ride being dominated by Barbarians who kill without warning. The Dragonspine Mountains is home to all manors of foul creatures and bandits that constantly plague travelers of the infamous Northwest Passage. And then there is Melvaunt. A decedent city that is ruled by a mercantile power known as the Council of Lords.
Play any character and start at level one. In the starting chest, you will receive Kaldor Silverwands Book of Trumps and can create up to three characters. There is one other companion that is added during the game that is part of the story.

Thanks for the comments and vote! I believe the area transition was left there by mistake. Thanks for pointing it out.

A nice, decent module. Definitely worth playing. Well designed, with all ingredients of a module (story, encounter balance, area design, polishing etc.) at a good quality level. And two big pluses: some very atmospheric areas (Tower of the Monolith, Gray Wastelands, the mountains) and the many side quests (especially at the town).
BTW I noticed something strange at the Gray Wastelands: the normal sequence seems to be first to confront Soul and then enter the cave which leads to the Tower of the Monolith. However there is also an area transition named 'Cos Area Trans' which leads directly to the Tower of the Monolith. Is this bypass intentional?
Thank you. I never really thought about being able to loot the guy in the arena fight. I understand what your saying though. The other two bugs have been reported but I haven't had a chance to fix them yet. Thank you for your comment and vote!

Didn't play any modules for months and i pick this one was a good 'restart' choice !!!
I only noticed some weirdness...
1>The merchant of the tavern\daughter quest always crash when u select other character while browsing the items
2>the merchant that had a argument with the fireball girl only offers the goods to sell once
3>ok, maybe im a freak but i believe if u kill a strong animal u can get the drop ...what im refer it ? the first arena fight , that dude was a animal but i killed it,he drops but u get teleported away too fast and dont get the drop :/,even if was rags i want it !!!
Now,its time to find other good module !!

A good module. Nothing espectacular, but you can have a good time with it
I spent almost two years, off and on, working on this because I enjoyed the process of building it. I ultimately did this for me and decided to share it. I'm almost sorry that you didn't like it. But not really.
Sorry you ran into trouble. It seems like a variable didn't get set. Here is a debug fix.
Press F1 to select your charactor
Press ~
Type debugmode 01
While in debug mode. type: dm_setvarint ds_miner 2 (I believe this is case sensitive)
Then go talk to Heldrid. Hopefully that will get you back on the road again.
Also, that's a side quest that has no bearing on the story or any other quest.

What began really well, ultimately became a disappointment. While the beginning is great--but hard--becomes easy, then almost impossible. Trust me, the balance is this campaign--besides the *group* halfway through that obliterates the entire party except the main PC (protected by an amulet I guess, no real explanation--is ridiculously askew at the end. It's blatantly obvious that this adventure is about the writer's 'fantasy' world much, much more than it is about the player's experience. Tone it down. The average player is like me--that's why only 16 sycophants voted 9+ when 600 more chose not to vote at all. Because I vote on every submission I play. It'd be great if the player's enjoyment was your most important goal.
I just did the dwarf mines section and exited, my journal says
You have found all nine of the trapped miners, now return to Heldrid on the surface.
But whenever I talk to Heldrid, I get the same "We'll start on this end. You go to the other entrance, up the mountain a ways." message that I got when he sent me on the quest in the first place.
I reloaded from before I left the mines and tried again, same result, shut down and rebooted my machine, same result.

Overall a fun adventure, though a bit Linear at times, with occasional moments of "um...now what?" Advice to players: talk to guards! also, the stone, when used, creates an effect that is VERY hard to see (use light spells to find it).
Other than a few minor issues, fun adventure, good times. A little disappointed that I couldn't kill everyone in the slave quest though. _________________________ Check out Raiders of the Lost Tomes: Link

Very enjoyable module, loved all the little details like custom text during loading screens, moving through the mountains and reaching the top and it started to snow dynamically. Great maps design, no swarms of monsters, all very logical, fast level up, etc. Overall a very good job. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you Hilltop.

Nice module. Lots of areas and quests, great story, bugfree. I like the possibility of create my own party. Perhaps the level is difficult for starting at level 1. It´s a pity not to see new modules like NotM.
A global variable didn't get set correctly. If the wizards academy choice doesn't work please let me know. I'll write a script for your override. Thanks for hanging in there :)
Thanks for responding. I'm not sure what a VFX is, but when I activate the stone, a "gateway" appears which, when clicked on, starts a conversation to the effect that there's not enough power to transport. My options in this conversation are: 1. put the stone in my pack, or 2. DEBUG: transport to the Wizard academy, or 3. DEBUG: transport someplace else... Thay, I think.
Should I just use the first debug option? That would advance my quest but I wasn't sure if I had missed something or there was a bug here.
When you activate it, it should create a VFX that you can click on and start a conversation. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll send you a script that will jump you out of there.
Hi, I'm trying to use the gateway stone but apparently the gateway does not have enough power. I have the option to put the stone in my pack, as well as 2 debug options. Is this expected? Am I missing something? Thanks...

A fun module with a good plot and good characters. Combat was tough but doable until the last battle, at least I think it was the last one as I was never able to defeat the monster.

I´m trying to download the rar file but appears an error when I´m more of 50% of the downloading process. I tried via internet and mozilla and in both cases the same problem: Only I can download 157 MB of the 280 of the rar file. :(

Hilltop,
Thanks for this Mod. Had a blast playing it and thought the story and battles were good. A suggestion is to add musicians to the bar with the Celtic music and dancing girls. The NPCs everywhere are very realistic and this stood out.
One glitch occurred. From the Orc battle and especially from the maze to the end, battles would pause. The attack courser would change to a conversation courser for 30 seconds to a minute. Then the battle would resume. This could happen once or twice. I tested it with two powerful game machines and had the same result.
Other than this, I liked it and will play it again. Great job :) _________________________ "You take a look around and you see that the law is there only to protect power. You'll see plenty of law but what you won't see is any justice."
There is an object in the room that you pick up to advance the quest. A scroll, I think. Please let me know if that doesn't work and I'll find a way to advance it. Thanks. Sorry your save file went bad. I can imagine the frustration :(

A fun time was had by this player, a fun and fulfilling time indeed!
The writing is well above par and truly enhanced the story.
A few minor typos and wrong word choices, (were instead of we're and a forgotten [/color] at the end of a wolf's dialog) here and there, not enough to take away from the immersion though.
I grew very fond of Jenna by the time we finished putting the smack down on the big evil do'r.
And the boat renter's name was not wasted on this sly and all perceiving adventurer.
Yup ... all in all, not one to miss. Everyone should certainly put this on their "To Play List".
Thank you hilltop2012 for another well done and expertly executed adventure. _________________________ Help is good when asked for,

The quest Order of the Dark Moon dosen't seem to be advancing. Get the quest and go clear the dark moon basment no problem. However I can't report what the dwarf tells me to the quest giver. Not sure if it's a bug or if I'm missing something.
Been enjoying the mod so far even though I got hit by a currpted save and had to start over (was almost at the end too!) _________________________ The Knight Capatin's Rogue: Book 1
