1- Extract the ".mod" files into your "My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/Modules" folder.

*****************************************************************
2.Description
*****************************************************************

Singleplayer or Multiplayer should work.
Start level 1 characters for this module.
Note: Not recommended you use a Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock or Bard: Start at level 1.

Whenever you complete a section of the module you will find a treasure chest with a better weapon in it, you'll find two of each weapon in case you are playing with a freind - what you do is sinply place your old weapon in the chest and take the new one. There are no shops so there is no point in holding on to obsolete items.

Armor doesnt give you AC, it gives you additional HP - The weakest armor you can get gives you +10 Hp (Leather Armor), Its the same as it was in FFT. As for AC - you get that through Shields and weapons, lighter weapons such as Mythril ones give you up to +3 ac, also weapons do not come with increased attack, only increased damage - to get better attack you get more levels.

So basicially its not about hits and misses anymore, its about how much damage you can do in those hits, and everyone has much more HP because of the way armor works. Your Starting AC is 5, which isnt BAD considering level 2 enemy squires have an attack bonus of +2, which gives you a 2/20 chance to evade the attack at level 1. Now of course your Dex modifier still gives you additional AC, and Armor does NOT restrict your Dex or Skills at all, better armor is ALWAYS better. Instead I'm going to introduce class restricions whenever I get around to making the non-warrior items. Ive already made all of the daggers, armors, capes, swords, boots, gloves, axes and flails that were in FFT.

This version only contains stage 1. - Tell me what you think so far.

This module is a hack-and-slash, story-driven module.

Story:
While patroling the countryside of Igros with your loyal soldiers, a Knight, an Archer and a Squire - You heard rumors of Nanteen activity in the east. As it is your duty as a new Officer of the Hokuten Knights, you set off towards the magic city: Gariland - Along the way things only get worse.

I just stopped by because I was downloading your tintable clothing because the word Ivalace caught my eye and it's my fave FF world and this really sounds fantastic. I dont have time to check it out now, but I just wanted to say its a great idea. I'll be back soon to try it.

Great landscape! I love tricky forest areas filled with canyons, hidden paths and a lot of trees. I can imagine this area took you you some great deal of time to create, but in the end it really shows. Realistic and detailed! I had no problem with the new HP system. I thought it was an interesting approach. I haven't played any of the FF-series, so I can't tell if something is made erroneous. Personally I liked the new and detailed information which described the items and armors. Extremely short though, but I understand why, since this first part is well-designed, beautiful and much detailed...

There levels arnt too high, this isnt a normal DnD module. Level 10 is half of 20, and this is a Knight we are talking about, which means they are going to be medium in relative power, with the max player level being 20. Knights will still be useful by end-game at level 10, where as at level 5 they would be fodder, like Squires. The most powerful non-boss unit, is the Lancer who is level 15.

Its supposed to be tough, keep in mind that YOU start at level 1, your soldiers do not they are levels 5 and 10. You are the Officer, although as you gain combat experience you can surpass them.

When they die, they should be dead. So I dont think what you described is a bug.

In FFT Bosses were Uber-Tough, as long as its BARELY surviveable, im happy :P

I'll have to agree with _FlyingPig_ (BTW is that a flying pig i just saw on the sky? LOL).

Anyhow i extremely like the premise for this mod and i'll be eaerly awaiting the update, but i got a thing or 2 to say about it.

(1)
The enemies were a bit tough, they should be a bit less tough with this being a mod for lvl 1 chars and all.

(2)
The boss at the end was uber tough, not unbeatable...but well you get my point.

(3)
The henchmen were lvl 5 and another lvl 10, thats a bit too high IMO, make them maybe lvl 2 and lvl 4?

(4)
Early on 1 of the henchmen died and well just disappeared, is that normal? or is it a bug?

Cheers!

Yes, thats the end of area 1, the crystal is like a Save Point, but you can save anywhere - its just to bring you to the next area which is in a different module.

Final Fantasy Tactics is my favorite console game so I'm really looking forward to the rest of this. Is the end of the beta the crystal at the end of the first area? I get there and select yes to continue and nothing happens. Faram.

Posted by SushiSquid at 2007-01-19 21:03:21
Oh, and to mirror what another guy said, I really think you could tone down the number of trees. I realize that you intended for the area to be a forest, but there's a point where a forest becomes annoyingly thick and difficult to navigate in a video game.

Posted by SushiSquid at 2007-01-19 20:49:52
Okay, pretty short so far, but that's to be expected from a beta, huh?

Anyway, I really like the potential this has. About your companions that die... they're permanently dead or would there later be a way to get them back or at least replace them?

Also, I went through as a Fighter. I'd really loved to have been able to take Weapon Focus and Specialization, but you ended up handing me too many different types of weapons for me to choose. I realize that you have to do this, because if you let users choose their favorite type of weapon and then only give them those from then on, you'd end up with people ignoring weapons like daggers, shortswords, or shortbows in favor of stronger ones. If you know scripting or if you know someone who does, what about adding in "Battle Focus," "Battle Specialization," and Greater versions of both, so that people who play as Fighters (or any class for Battle Focus) could take these feats and not feel constrained.

Or, you could make a custom class and force players to make a new character and use that class. For variety, you can make maybe two or three classes specifically for this module/module series. Doing so would also fix the Weapon Focus problem that I have.

Thanks for making the module at all, and I'm eager to see what else you do with it, but please do consider some of what I've said.

Yes your troops are level 5ish. This isnt a DnD game - levels dont mean the same thing, and in any DnD game low level mobs start around evel 5 ish, since players are usually much more powerful at equal level.

The armors are all "Cloth" which means 0ac and enchanted with +hp bonuses.

Also, is this as it should be: I start at level one, but my troops are level five?

Posted by pcatiprodotnet at 2007-01-19 09:37:10
The armor in the chest gave me ac instead of hp. I'm guessing that I need to remove "3.5PNP" and "AI" override hacks?

Posted by Zonzai at 2007-01-18 16:11:47
Too many requirements. I'd like to try this mod but I just don't want to download all those things when I like the mods I'm using now.

Thanks for trying it - In my current versiont hings are quite different though. You now start with 1 Knight, Squire, Archer and Chemist (Who is a healer) the guys you start with come with slightly superior equiptment, and the way equiptment works is drasticially different. To match FFT.

Ive already made all of the daggers, armors, capes, swords, boots, gloves, axes and flails that were in FFT.

The First boss isnt AS difficult anymore, because you wont miss him anymore, but he wont miss you either so you will definitely need your Knight to defeat him. You should be level 4 by the end of Stage 1.

Okay I put myself to intall all the stuff. Played with a bard... For a module that was absolutel not my style of play (hack&slash, party play) it was quite fun. The many trees were quite unnerving, tough, and the normal enemies were very easy to defeat whereas the first boss got me and my party down in no time.

Posted by Cleitanious at 2007-01-17 13:46:12
Its not a matter of "Chaning a Running System" those override mods add models and textures used by this. You can actually install them all into a New Folder within the Override folder, so you can delete them all at once, when you're done.

I'd like to try but I'm not going to mess with Override stuff... never change a running system for me. But if you get your issues fixed I will certainly have a look.

from now on - Unless Obsidian fixes the issues with haks and me (Which im sure they will) I'm going to just require you use the Override version for the mods instead of the Haks, they arn't very different anyway, as far as installation/uninstillation goes.

You cant load it into the toolset because adding any haks to my mods corrupts them and they cannot be opened anymore - I already had to re-make the whole thing and this time Im not using any haks though.
