FRW Character Creator, v.2.0.0
by ladydesire ([email protected])
Updated: 22 January 2008
---Purpose:
This module is designed to help players create balanced characters for use in other community-made modules. It will level your characters and give them an appropriate amount of gold for their new level. It will also permit you to purchase a limited assortment of items so that you can have a basic equipment foundation to take with you into new modules. The emphasis is on creating balanced, not overpowered characters that adhere to the classic D&D equipment magic standards endorsed by the Forgotten Realms Weave (FRW) group. It can also serve as a waystation for characters between modules, allowing you to sell off loot, empty your inventory of unwanted items, and buy new gear/potions.
Finally, it serves as a showcase for FRW modules, allowing users to meet NPC's from these modules, learn about the module offerings available, and purchase some of the custom items from these modules.
---Features:
* Level up your character & receive an appropriate amount of gold for this new level.
* Equip your character with a basic foundation of gear that is appropriate for your level. For low-level characters, these include silver & cold iron masterwork items.
* Meet with NPC's from FRW modules and learn about those modules.
* Access the Bartender's Store, which contains (at a premium price) custom items from FRW modules.
* Sell off loot from previous modules, ditch unwanted items, and re-equip your character between adventures.
* Remove no-drop items from your inventory.
* Do a limited amount of crafting (no magic station).
* Adjust your alignment.
New in this release:
Support for the FRW Persistent Companion System (requires hak file).
Leveling up to Level 30 to support MotB and future Epic Level modules.
1/15: I will be posting an updated version of the FRW Character Creator that supports the Epic Levels currently available in Mask of the Betrayer within the week; I will also be adding support for the FRW Persistant Companion System, including an area that you can use to acquire some available Persistant Companions. Thank you for your patience and your continued interest in this project.
1/22: In addition to the new features mentioned above, I have added a way for a level one character to gain a small amount of gold; simply speak with Chatter as you normally would to level up and select the Level 1 option.
2/15: added the FRW Persistant Companion hak do the list of downloads to ease locating that file.
so uh... I'm at the fort where the area transitions to Altumbel and Yuirwood are "Placeholders for Chapter 3". Has Chapter 3 not been released yet or is this a bug? I'm really liking my party and this has been one epic quest.

Great stuff, very nicely done and simple. Love it. And the way it presents other modules, to get you to download them by getting you in the mood story wise. Thanks for this. Cheers! _________________________ Needles in the eyes!

Hiya!
Very good character creator/trainer.
However, I encountered a really strange bug. If I cancel during character creation or before selecting a character, the music stop upon returning to the main menu. Only way to get the music back is to quit NWN2.
Cheers! _________________________ "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. For if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."

Excellent module!

Good stuff. I'd love to see clothes in the store, though. I hate those default wizard and sorcerer robes, for example.

Excellent character builder. Does exactly as it claims- allows you to create a balanced character with appropriate equipment. I look forward to the addition of a practice area in a future update.

Thanks, works great. _________________________ -=Jaysyn=-
@To all: The current version of the FRW Character Creator is compatible with NWN2 patch 1.21, so I have updated the version number supported; an update containing an arena for combat testing and building of companions for Storm of Zehir will be released shortly.
@FallzQuick: I might add something like that for the next release, since I don't generally use any other builder module myself.

Seems like a really useful mod, however I always like to have a little arena area to try out my character before I send them off to some mod. but otherwise seemed good.
Thanks for the votes folks; deuxhero, if you downloaded version 2, you will need to also download the frw_persistent_companion.7z and extract that to your hak folder. I will be including that in the next update which should be going up shortly.

Module doesn't load, I extract the 7z to a temp file, then move the .mod file (the onlything in there, no readme apparently) to my moduals folder, when I try to start it, it just stays there (and my screen is darker then normal loading screens)

Great module; very handy for designing character builds.
Should you ever consider updating this module, I would suggest adding a "firing range". Basically, a room with attackable target-dummys (similar the ones Brother Merring has you practice on before fighting the Mossfelds, but they would regenerate) so you can test out the damage/special effects of newly gained powers.
I'd also recommend adding some level-appropriate non-armor clothing to Chatter's merchandise. It's really hard to equip oneself when the only clothing available are tacky robes... totally inappropriate for a PC aspiring to be dashing Duelist. _________________________ Sand: I think it is time everyone marched behind me, your new glorious leader.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. A very useful resource particularly if you will be playing a FRW module... _________________________ Works of B G P Hughes: Link
Is Shaper's Alembic or Enchanter's Satchel sold in this module? Or selling essences?

My last comment should be disregarded... this seems to be a quirk with Tanithiel specifically.

Would be great if you also incorporated a way to directly alter the Persistent companion level.. In particular, I would like a method to delevel a companion if you want to carry forward into a lower level mod...
@sgt_why: The version here fixes some bugs with Tanithiel, so it's probably the one that either is or will be on the FRW PCO download page at some point. That's the only thing that I know of that is different about this one.
Great to see it alive again! We need to talk about adding support for RHoD into the module as well, since its also fully tested with this FRW CC and the Persistent Companion system.
btw - is the PCO hak hosted here, the same as the one released last year or does it have updated as well ? If so, I'll need to integrate it into my campaign. _________________________ the Red Hand of Doom campaign .. Click Here

Very good character trainer, and I love that it's specific to the FRW.

Excellent, I've used it to create a good variety of balanced characters. :-)
You probably didn't read what's below and didn't get the companion pack she mentioned, now did you? Ask Maximus to remove the vote one, it's not a fair vote.
