This mod adds a new base class the warmage to the list of classes you can choose at the beginning of the game. The warmage is a specialized spellcater that has a limited spell selection to choose from. The warmage is much like a sorcerer in that you are a spontaneus caster and do not learn new spells from scrolls. However unlike the warmages sorcerer and wizard counterparts the warmage is able to wear armor while casting spells.
Special Notes:
You must use the recommend button when leveling up and choosing your spells or you must manually scroll to the bottom of the spell list and hand add all spells beginning with "Warmage". This is currently a limitation of the character generation and level up screens.
Also when getting bonus feats and regular feats you will see the spellcastng feats for leveling up in a prestige class. This is also a glitch within the game as these feats have to appear there in order for you to properly have spells granted on levelup within the game. I'm looking for a fix for this as well.
Installation:
This mod contains a sub folder and a dialog.tlk file. The contents of the subfolder "override" should be placed within it's respective folder in "My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2". The dialog.tlk file should be placed directly in the "My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2" folder, as well as in the main installation folder (eg. "C:/Program Files/Atari/Neverwinter Nights 2").
Version Notes:
1.01 BETA: Added all applicable Prestige Classes as options to be taken. Arcane Archer, Arcane Trickster, Arcane Scholar of Candelkeep, Dragon Disciple, Harper Agent, & Palemaster. The Warmage is not a specialist Wizard despite having a spellschool and does not qualify for the Red Wizards of Thay.
1.00 BETA: The Warmage Core Base class only with the 5 reserve casting feats from the original project. No prestige class support or crafting support. This mod has no compatibility without ccustom changes on the users part at this time.
This is a revised and updated version of the Warmage Base class for NWN2. Patch 1.23. Basic testing has been performed on both expansions as well as MoW. This is currently in Beta testing state and should be considered as such.

Awefull, I downloaded this looked at it them deleated it. No descriptions, spells randomly chosen from existing classes, the fire copy spell makes a HOSTILE copy of yourself, and thats just to name a few, I recomend that you go somewhere else for a good custom class. _________________________ For some, however, dragon blood beckons irresistibly. These characters become dragon disciples, who use their magical power as a catalyst to ignite their dragon blood, realizing its fullest potential.
Will the current file you have uploaded work for the original campaign with MoTB installed, or do I need to wait until the next update to play the original campaign and/or expansion campaign with a warmage character?

I'm running into more time delays from work than were first anticipated however I will have it up by the end of Novemeber if not sooner. I've placed Phase 2 & 3 development on hold untill I finish Phase 1 for MOTB.

Really a good class! When are you going to post the update for MOTB?
Posted by Darkkender at 2007-10-23 09:21:39 Voted 10.00 on 08/26/07
Yes the MOTB update will include epic levels. The current version already is capable of RDD levels I just forgot to edit all of the TLK file entries for all of the different prestige classes but the 2da files reflect the fact that you can become a RDD. It was my first tested Prestige class for the mod.
Will your MotB update include epic class levels for the Warmage? Have you made the Warmage capable of taking RDD levels? He does cast spontaneously, but the NWN2 says bard or sorcerer specifically.

Just an update for anybody following this mod I will be releasing a new version within the next week to week in a half for use with MOTB. It will be a seperate download package so that those that don't have MOTB can still use the old version.

Never mind, my problem was due to the fact that I hadn't applied the latest patch... great job, though.

I'm not sure about the custom.tlk problem. Do you have both custom.tlk and custom.tlk without the ".tlk" extension in your main NWN2 installation folder? Also which version of NWN2 are you using? @kunikos I have looked at possibly building something into the scripting to provide this effect.
Wouldn't it be possible to negate a certain percentage of arcane penalty as it corresponds only to shield use? Or perhaps lacking specificity, just a general arcane penalty negation that corresponds to the highest penalty light shield?

For some reason I'm having trouble with the "custom.tlk" file... it doesn't run the file when I install it unless I rename it "dialog.tlk" (at which point it runs fine, but I lose the text for the rest of the game, which kinda defeats the purpose.) Any ideas?

Just passing on to everybody that the mod is now out of Alpha release status and should be considered in a final release status for Phase 1. The other 2 phases I will be completing over the next few weeks and adding. These phases should be considered stand alone companions that can be installed without the phase 1 portion but will work the best with all phases installed.

Yeah it would be the shield since unlike the Complete Arcane Warmage I haven't figured out the best way to setup the no arcane failure for the warmage with light shields. Part of that is because in NWN2 there is only 2 shield proficiencies rather than 3. However that is on my short list of potential tweaks to pursue, but may not make it to the final as that might make the warmage even more powerful for NWN2.
I do not think your choice of spells would be a flaw. I tried this out in a trainer, and went to level 7. Killed everything I faced , and the only time I died was when i accidentally fireballed myself.
This class is powerful...even with a low base attack. I think some might think ti is a bit too powerful, but I like it alot. I actually had to stop and really think if i wanted to multi-class to E.k or not. usually I don't do that.
I will vote on this later when it is considered final. I like it alot though and I think it is cool how you were able to get around the spell book problem. That is real innovative. I wonder if you ever experienced any arcane failure? I did some , after I got level 3 spells. That may have been my shield though s0 I will play it some more and see.

The custom.tlk is one of my plans. I just have had difficulties with it. Is there a good reference for custom.tlk file entries and referencing it in the game files? I've also got a few fixes I've been working on that I will include in the update.
As to the custom spellbook The spells are locked into the innate spells column. The flaw with this is that you have to use the recomend button when choosing your spells. I also titled all of the spells with Warmage for easy reference for players.
Will the be updated to contain a standalone tlk so that we don't need to override dialog.tlk? I would like to use this for our PW, but I can't as long as it uses dialog.tlk... _________________________ The Grinning Fool The World of Khalidine, a unique RP PW.
How did you solve the problem with the custom spell book?

I'm hoping there are no major glitches for others. But if there are please let me know.
My next line-up will be either "The Magic of Incarnum" or I will be introducing some of the character concepts and prestige classes from the quintessential classes books from Mongoose publishing, which I have found there content to be some of the best non-WOTC D20 material.
