These are the official patches created by Obsidian and hosted by NWVault. Previously they were private but I'm making them public for those who are having trouble using the patcher for whatever reason. You should always use the in-game patcher to update but if that isn't working you can use the NWN2 Patcher created by tnt220, which has helped several people. To use that tool you'll need the actual patch which you can get here. Please note that Obsidian can't support the NWN2 Patcher tool or use of these patches outside of their patcher, but if you're hitting roadblocks you can give this route a try.
For a more user friendly set of patch links go here where there is an alphabetical language list with all patch versions in numerical order.

I had no idea the patching process for NWN2 was this messed up. Thank gods Atari doesn't make games anymore. 100% FUBAR & lowest possible rating is still too high.
Beneficial document helps make frequent advance, appreciate it write about, this pile-up connected with expertise is usually to hold finding out, focus is usually the beginning of money. _________________________ zhoujie xiaojiezi
..but I guess the only issue for someone using NWN2: Platium is the missing patch files: pcx2 1211549 to 1221586 is missing. Can these just be skiped?? or is there a place to download them?? _________________________ "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." Albert Einstein (Therefore I own a sword!)
Uh, What?! I am no dummy when it comes to minor game programing and updating but I am somewhat lost when it comes to NWN2 patches. Obviously, Atari has made a mess of things and I am greatful to those at the Vault for the many useful posts and files. So, my simple question:
I recently purchased NWN2: Platinum and wish to be able to play some of the mods (Conan, Icewind Dale, etc.) and perhaps join/play in some of the persistant worlds. Most or all of these say to patch to 1.23. Platinum comes with 1.20#####... but the games patcher wants to pathc to a lesser version: 1.17##.. So am I right to use the patcher tool to add each of the patches above 1.20 in order to get to 1.23?? OR should I just play with 1.20 and see if it works with the mods I wish to use??
It would be nice if the last patch (1.23) included all previous fixes and adds but maybe that is too much to hope for (since Atari messed up that route) and too large a file. Thanks and happy slayings to all!

Where are the PCX2 patches for 1211549 to 1221588? Somewhere else on this site I found a link named PCX2_english for 1211549 to 1221586, but it turned out to be the PCX1 variant.

I was in a hurry when I posted the previous because the wife was calling me to start the movie...
I meant to say deny delete on the NWN2 temp folder and any subfolders that exist under it and continue to press "update" if you have any issues (which I did). Also, when I said everything you'll need, of course the updater available here on the vault is necessary. And "fresh load" means a fresh install or uninstall/reinstall of NWN2. I'd choose another box (I used my laptop for this).
I'm also aware I didn't give detailed instructions. If you don't already know how to modify permissions, don't attempt this. I mainly wanted to let the community know how to acquire these patches themselves so maybe someone would post them for everyone else. There's a way to obtain these things without a lot of stress and I wanted to share.
My first attempt was to reverse engineer the updater to find the paths and methods used to pull the patches and after a few minutes of going through the code, I said "this is crazy" and tried the above and it worked. I now have a complete patch set in case support is pulled and I need to reload. Have fun!

I just bought NWN2 and came here to download patches so I'd have local copies. When updating normally, it failed. But I kept clicking update and it eventually worked (acted as though servers couldn't handle traffic at certain times). Anyway, I was worried because of the missing patches on this page. If you want a local copy just in case someone happens to snatch them when support drops, here's what I did...
Start with a fresh load. Go to the neverwinter nights 2 "temp" directory. Change permissions on all folders to deny all delete. Update normally, continuing to press "update" until you're fully patched. Go to the temp directory and leech all the zips and you'll have everything you'll ever need! (remember to change permissions back to inherit from parent).

For those of you having problems with the nightmareish patch system some help:
1) PC, PC1,PC2, are the OC and the 2 xpacks.
2) You do not need to install every patch for all 3. PC1 should have the fixes for PC as well. PC2 should have fixes for PC and PC1. If you notice in the above mess the PC1 patch with the same version number as the PC patch is a larger file. Thus it adds the fixes for the first xpack. You only need to follow the patches for the highest xpack you have installed. Attempting to install all patches for all 3 could cause you problems.
3) Their is a tool posted in these forum messages( i believe thats where i got it) That will help you manually patch. Use it, It works well.
4)It is better to start out with the autopatcher. And try to patch as many files as you can with it. You will find that the AP will patch most of the files but not all. IF you dont how to find the autopatcher its a little....weird. Using windows 7, you right click on your shortcut( or i assume you can right click the EXE file as well). This will give you options for the "updater" as well as the toolset. On other versions of windows i am not for sure if this works. As an alternative you should be able to go into the game folder and find the exe file for the updater.
5) Try the autopatcher first. Its usually faster and less headache. It will probably fail on a patch at some point. If it fails the second time come here get the manual updater tool and search for the next patch you need( it will tell you in the updater which patch it is trying to download and failing on.) Find the patch that brings it up to the patch the updater is having problems with. Once patched to that version restart the updater. It should start again on the next patch. So on and so forth.
I had to update manually twice. I downloaded 2 patches from here. It wasnt that big of a pain doing it that way( took me about 30 minutes for everything on a broadband.
I have to uninstall and re-install my NWN2.
I'm looking at the in order list, I assume:
"pc_english" are the OC ones
"pcx1_english" are the MotB ones
"pcx2_english" are the SoZ ones.
Is this the right order to install:
I install NWN2 then update until pc_english_110115 and then install MotB and patch until pcx1_english_1211549 and then patch all the way from there right?
Would love a note in the description about it. _________________________ Sanity... Is for the WEAK! - Chaos Space Marines, War40k: DoW

I loved the first game. I'm sure if I can ever get this one fixed I'll love it, too. But when it screws up, it says to contact Atari. Obsidian says to contact Atari. Everyone says to contact Atari. Atari can't even keep their patch pages functioning and I have yet to ever get anything but a form letter letting me know they got my email and someone will contact me. It's ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend this game to ANYONE EVER just because of all the technical BS you have to go through to get it to even run properly.
Why are there like a bazillion patches? Where is there the "fresh install to current patch" file.
I've been installing for an hour and a half. I am both drunk and pissed off. I WANT TO PLAY!!! _________________________ Having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting
hi

my friend is stuck on 56k (ICK!) and she hates it and has no choice atm..but to say you dont support any other method is flat wrong, because not everyone on this earth is fat enough ( money wize) to be able to afford a friggin etho!

I am relatively new to this patching thing and I would like some help with my problem..I had NWN2 version 1.0 and played it towards the end without being stopped by the various bugs I found..up to getting the sword of gith.I didn't have the possibility to use it and the only solution was to patch the game. After patching the problem was solved, but upon any action the game crashes with the message Neverwinter Nights 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. This is happening regardless of the game's version.
I've just found this site, didn't patch from here because I don't know how,the updater works fine but the game is unplayable like this..any help appreciated.
Okay, so I just got all three games and I want to manually update - no autoupdater. What files am I going to need? Do I need to only do the ones with xp2? May I have some help please? Thanks.

The patch 1.22 for nwn2 has been released. This Patch bring some new features. Would you please show us a new version CBC2 work for that?
I bought NWN2 a long time ago, only to find that it wouldn't run on my computer due to the graphics that it uses (which ticked me off because the graphics aren't that impressive). However, I did find a 3rd party tool which did at least allow me to run the game. Unfortunately, I was told that this 3rd party tool did not work past a certain patch level of the game, so I never patched it before.
Last week, I bought a new computer. This one meets all of the specs for NWN2, so it shouldn't be a problem, right? WRONG.
I tried the auto updater. I saw some errors scroll by. When it was done, the game wouldn't run. At all. GRRRR. Oh gee, there's no manual option for patches. Officially, I'm screwed. So, I go looking, and thank goodness I found these patches here. So, I started over. I uninstalled the game, and started installing these patches. While I am grateful that these patches are here, the fact that you have to install about 14 BILLION PATCHES is REALLY FREAKING ANNOYING! Sheesh! Can't someone tell those idiots to create a single patch to upgrade from older versions? I spent the ENTIRE FREAKING AFTERNOON just downloading and installing patches, and in case you couldn't tell by my periodic use of all caps, I was NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.
And after it all, the game didn't work.
GRRRR.
I scoured the net. I sent an e-mail to Atari. They sent me a nice form letter back. Gee thanks (rolleyes). After poking around the net, I found that the basic problem was the compiler libraries installed. I downloaded the VC++ runtimes and installed it. Nothing. I downloaded .net 3.0. Nothing. Finally, I downloaded .net 3.5, and the freaking thing worked.
I decided to post all of this here for two reasons. First, no one should ever have to go through this much pain just to run one stupid game. I hope that someone forwards this back to the guys that made this game because no one should punish their customers this much. Second, I think the fact that you need to make sure you have .net 3.5 installed needs to be in the description, since this is required for the patches to work.
It's a good thing I like this game, because this weekend has been a very negative experience for me.

Hi!
I have a problem in the gameplay, so I write it here in the hope that somebody can help me.
I am fairly at the beginning of the game. I reached the Swamp ang entered the ruin, and finally retrieved the silver shard. After it nothing happens. I travelled back to the village with the shard, but the old elf was saying the same when I left the village for the shard. According to some walkthrough, I should have a conversation with Bevil immediately after I recovered the shard. This I had not.
What could be the problem? Wrong patch? (Currently my game is 1.110.1115.)
Thanks for the advice and help!
