Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before...
- Edgar Allen Poe
This is a series of visuals I made for the "Storm of Zehir Holiday Project"; with them, I could make a proper cavern for curious and forgotten lore.
Includes:
Tileset:
New textures for the cave tileset. They are listed as "CW" in the dropdown menu.
Textures:
cthulhu.dds
cthulhu_n.dds
(These I got from FilterForge, and I am forever in their debt)
Visual Effects:
shoggoth 1: For the Water Elemental(make sure to set UV scroll to FALSE)
shoggoth 2: For shoggoth 3...
shoggoth 3: Tentacles to be placed on the ground
It is worth noting, however, that upon applying these changes to your cave you'll notice that many placeables don't quite fit so well. To this end, I used floating asteroids, fog and lighting effects. If done well, the transition can be very, very pronounced.
Known Issues:
If the area is sufficiently bright, the new textures can create a metallic sheen on the outside of the area. Keep the ambient light dark, and it's not a problem in game(though the map will still show it).

Perfect for spicing up the cave tileset. Inspired me to make a Beholder area for my mod. _________________________ NW2 Module Fallen House Celofraie

Yeah, I had a go with the lighting and it looks pretty good. I don't really know how to make tint maps either, but I might have an experiment, anyway.
P.S. Seems I managed to mis-spell "first" and "fire" in my last post... :-) _________________________ In production: The Dragon Dynasty All my other stuff
I don't actually know how to make tint maps(and I'm not sure how effective they'd be, actually, on a blackish surface). So, yes, lighting is your friend in modifying the 'feel' of your area.
