A plug-in to do automate much of the work involved in making a quest - a replacement for the Plot wizard in NWN1 toolset.
The plug-in is not entirely finished - but it is almost there, so I would rather have it out in the community (where errors can be caught), than postponing its release until I felt it would be perfect, which could take ages.
All comments and criticisms (positive or negative) are more than welcome.
I have tried to make an updated version of the plug-in.
It seems to work on my end, but if it does not for you, try to save the quest you are trying to do and send it to me, along with a description of the problem. Before you do so, I would appreciate if you tried to compile all the scripts in your module first though.
I made a quest with 3 nodes in it and when I play test it the first node will fire but not the other two.Sometimes the third node will work but not the first two etc.And when I press the generate quest button it seems that it is not generating all three nodes. The only thing I know is that it is not working, and since there is no instruction on how to use it I cant tell if it's me doing it wrong or if it's the tool being buggy.I think if you write a small example step by step on how to do a small quest it would help alot.I think the biggest confusion for me is how to string the nodes together so they work.I also dont understand if you hit the generate quest button after you make each node or only once after all the nodes are made. But like I said I think an example from you will clear everything up.Thank you for making a promising plug-in and thank you for your help.
re: matiekins
I'll try to cook something up. Though of course, since they tool was meant to be easy to use, it might need a lot more revision (if it is not beyond salvage), if that is your take.
Also, if you could tell which parts you find especially confusing (and what you feel, besides the tutorial, could alleviate the problem) then that would be a big help.
McMunroe:
I don't know. As it is I think it controls the quests through variables saved to the PC, so if you mean that journal entries are not carried over, but variables are, then I guess it would work - though I have no experience with PW's at all.
Can we please get a walkthrough on how to use this? There is no tutorial for this and one is very much needed.Being a total noob scripting wise I find this very confusing and it's not working for me.A simple go kill quest example would be great. To offer a tool like this with no help or support is silly.(and the included doc does'nt count)
Great Plug-in. Only problem is when I press the create quest button after making all the nodes and such. I get a fatal exception and it crashes the toolset.
I like the idea. I enjoyed using the wizard in NWN1 but there was one thing I could have used in that which I think you might consider here. (If you have the skill and ambition to do it) In those plot nodes that require conversation, could more access be given to the conversation editor so a more in-depth conversation can be scripted? _________________________ You're the kid of some big almighty Kahuna out there.
Call Home!!
I really like the idea of this plugin. Can't get it to work with directory mode, so I can't use it on my current project. I'll keep watch for updates and maybe can use it on my next module.
