Another fantastic area that is perfect for my mod - I loved the texturing and overall look of the area. Keep up the awesome job on the areas! _________________________

"Why is that Grass_09 there?"
"Grey cliff stands out."
Think I just forgot to blend those in. Will try to not be sloppy:)
When I make an exterior area I first block in the heightfield then smooth it out and sculpt it a bit. Then select the base texture and block in a secondary compliment texture. After that usualy 2-3 rock/dirt and the leftover slot(s) I use for spot textures. Then block in those and then 2-4 passes of refinement. This is done mostly before any placeables except major things like houses. I'm *not* saying it's the best workflow but it *a* workflow.
I hope this gave you some pointers that you found useful to outdoor terrain sculpting.
"The second area that I posted had lines of textures to break up tiling textures. I notice the lines of textures here. They look a bit artificial."
Those lines are supposed to be ruts from wagons so they're artificial,I probably should have parked a wagon or two there to make the point.
Keep pointing out stuff like this it helps improvement.
@OMH, regarding placeables. True this might not be a fully cluttered area however it is a base for the module builder to work with. As the areas are prefabs, that is all the groundwork is laid and the refinement, adding/removing placeables to suit your module is up to you.
As for my areas improving, I hope that is true:) Those first areas (the forest ones) I posted was actualy my very first attempt at doing anything with the toolset(those where supposed to be a module but it wasn't any good), no test areas before that.
@coreyh2, I examined the areas you mentioned for "strangeness" the thing I noticed after turning off normal mapped terrain and bloom effects is that the groundlight creates a greenish "shine" that is "strange". Also the texture striping is more noticable if you turn off those features, I never really check without bloom/normalmapping. The thing about texture striping is that you never can get away from it completely (unless your map is totally flat:)), you can only minimize it.
For those that do not use normal mapped terrain the striping will be more apparent as there is no light breakup across the polygon, just interpolation between vertices.
But if it is some other strangeness I would like to know more specifics so I can improve on other maps.
@BeyondThePale, good that my areas are put to use.

Like your other works, this is great. Markshire will be using this in one way, shape, or form. Thank you.

Its excellent. Like wastelands it has some places that look colored and textured strange. Some of the textures are stretched in the pit. Its pretty badass overall though.

The funny thing with you is, and positive it is indeed, is that the more you submit, the greater you areas are. I have followed your works closely, and although I am not too fond of your interior areas, your exterior areas keep on improving. And I must say, this area is a real beauty. Thank you for sharing this, I'd be honored using this. In my opinion, you do not really surpass the average skills at creating the environment with placeables, but you do surpass enormously with you textures as your textures are absolutely wonderful!
