Two Ravenloft inspired villages.
One set in mountains and the other in a deep forest.
The villages are quite generic so a change of lighting and sound set will transform them into abit more standard fantasy villages.
Note that there are *no* interior areas, as there are alot of good interiors in the prefab area to link into for modulebuilders.
*UPDATE*
Added two optional DayNight Cycles for those who do not want a static night time. These where saved with the 1.1 editor so is probably not going to import correctly into 1.06.
Also do not forget to change under environment variables, "Day/Night Cycle == TRUE" and "Is Always Night == False".

Great area. Fantastic texture work. Nice use of height. The layout/design of the area is pretty cool too. Not to mention a creative use of placeables. I also liked the way you used lights to bring out the bright yellowish textures in the bottom of the cliffs.

Nice area layout. Great texture job. And the mood to both areas is great.

Awesome areas! _________________________ Obsidian Shore, a HoF 9.8 heavy roleplaying PW. Dark and gritty fairytale world with the opportunity to do and change the world as you wish. Link

@Razare, all valid points, especially the lighting.
I mostly do the things that comes to mind at the moment when I make an area.
I never do any sort of designnotes or sketches.
I will keep these things in mind for future areas.

Thank you for posting this excellent content.
The mountain town is top notch. You went overboard on the lighting for the evil cave and the glowing crevasse beneath it, but that is easily changed.
The swamp town is very good except for the large burnt out house that consumes much of the interior of the town. If I wanted to fill the town with zombies it might make sense to have the largest structure in the town (presumably the government building) be destroyed, but for practical use as a normal town it does not make a whole lot of sense or efficient use of space. A burnt out house on the edge of town for ambiance is a great idea but huge and in the middle?
@coreyh2, yes agreed twinkling stars may be too cute.
If you need a thunderstorm, check out my Plains Bridge map theres a script in that .erf to generate lightning and thunderclaps randomly(somewhat atleast) the script will need improvement for it to be more random as it is just random timing not random locations.
@jaz, yep a large more standad fantasy city, got some ideas...
I've been away and just got back. Glad to see you are still pumping stuff out. It would be great to see some cities etc from you after you finish MOTB if you feel inclined to make them. :)

I thought you might have already known that.
I don't know anything about Ravenloft. I just don't like twinkling stars in my creepy night areas. I'd spent a while trying to figure out how to get rid of the damn things. I'd rather have a thunderstorm.
@coreyh2. Thanks for the tip. However the stars are supposed to be there as the places are stuck in eternal night(the "is always night" flag seems not only to control rules for drows and so on but also if stars are rendered or not). But I've uploaded some optional day/night stages that are suitable for use as overcast settings. So feel free to use 'em:)

I really like these. I've been working on creepy areas. These are far better then mine. You used a fog effect that I haven't used yet. I'll have to try it.
One thing I've done in my areas is set the it to be daytime and put night settings in default. You don't get the twinkling stars that way. You can make the sky dark and overcast.
You've done it again. I thought these were really well crafted. I hope to see more of your work in the future when you are finished playing through MotB.
@MorningWaits, thank you for the encouraging words. I tried to make a creepy atmosphere, perhaps I should have used abit less sound in the forest village.
I would like some comments about the areas as it's my first attempt at a village/town setting. A The Good, The Bad, The Ugly rundown of the areas would be nice, no votes neccesary just some feedback to improve my town layouts.
This will be my last areas for awhile, untill I've played through MotB. Perhaps if there are some really great new textures and so on I might get the urge:)

I was really impressed. I love the emotion these give off. Great job.
