A Prefab rural town made with the presale toolkit. UPDATED: Changed much of the grass to a darker color to match the textures better, fixed the tears in the ground(I think I got it all), added river gates, as well as a few other misc. tweaks. Have Fun!
Yes, quite helpful thanks. I will have to practice with it awhile and see if I can fix it without ripping up my town too much. _________________________ Mr. Sprinkies
Ok, here is some info about the noise tool.
It will only cause those tears on the edges of tiles. So as long as it doesn't cross tile boundaries it wont tear.
Smoothing helps somewhat to fix the tears, but in many cases will not remove them completely. If you pan around with the camera you can still see some blue occasionally. Only way I have been able to eliminate them completely is the FLATTEN tool. I reccomend flattening all the tears. Then once they are closed, try using the raise terrain tool with a low pressure setting (maybe 10%). Raise terrain doesn't tear the landscape.
Hopefully they will fix the noise tool before launch. I find it also tends to mess up the walkmesh too at times, so doublecheck your walkmesh everytime after using noise.
Oh and yes, I would love to see this town used in other peoples modules. Make it better, see what you can do with it. That's the point;>) _________________________ Mr. Sprinkies
Thanks for the feedback, I will keep that in mind however some things I would like to point out:
I left very few placeables on purpose so people can add whatever barrels or whatever
The tears in the ground is due to me using the noise tool when I started. I thought it was a bug or something in the toolset that would be fixed when you actually play the game. Anyone have any advice on how to avoid this(aside from don't use the noise tool)?
I will take a look at the rest, I did kind of go a bit nutsy with the grass last night hehe...

I'm giving this a 6.75 not because it's horrible, because it's not. It's in a rough state right now, with some issues as listed below:
- Lots of placeables. Could be more, such as wagon-wheels and barrels and suchlike. Make it more "alive", like a lived-in town.
- There are numerous "tears" in the ground which actually prevent walking. You can see blue streaks in the ground where these "tears" exist in the terrain. Smooth sool will resolve these.
- The front gate seems too large for the wall. It sticks up way over the top, and looks strange when opening it.
- The water apssing under the wall does not quite look right. I'd suggest using an archway wall, and rescaling it so that it looks like a culvert with a gate over the front of it.
- Texturing is a bit light. Could use some more textures, a bit more blending with different brush pressures.
- Grass seems a bit "jarring" in color contrasts to the rest of the area. I'd use the light green grass for this area, and use it to delineate pathways to the houses. Might create the look you're looking for.
All in all, it is a good use of placeables and walls and buildings, but it is a bit rough. With about 10 hours more worth of work, this could be a top-shelf area. _________________________ Lan's Placeable Groups v1.5
