Below are four areas, but all based on one core area design template - a walkway through the tree tops. I've had the idea for these areas for a while, but not really had a need for them in my work, but thought I'd spend a day knocking them up to see what they look like.
Realm of the Fey Princes
========================
Each of the three fey princes has a castle in the midst of the giant trees. Travel across the walkways to find them.
I've intentionally left much of the area on the walkways empty for others to populate depending on their needs - e.g. the Crossroads would also make a good fey bazaar area, with merchants around the central trunk
Hope they can be a good starting point for someone

a3_farawaytree - Score: 4.00
This is a creative setup, but it is lacking a lot of detail. There are no placeables to give this area any character and make it stand out. The tree placement was a little too close; spreading some of the trees out a bit might help that. Not to mention, the trees in some parts, are sticking through the walkway.
a3_farawaytree1 - Score: 4.25
This are is also pretty empty, but at least there was a building. The trees are sticking through the walkway a bit on the right side of the building. Again, the trees seemed to impose onto the walkway.
a3_farawaytree2 - Score: 4.25
This area is fairly similar to farawaytree1; it has the walkway, lots of trees (also sticking through the walkway), and one building.
a3_farawaytree3 - Score: 4.25
Again, similar to the previous 2 areas.
It was nice that you added some special effects too.
These have a lot of potental. Spreading most of the trees out, away from the walkway & possibly reducing their size a little might stop them from poking through the walkway. The addition of more placeables would help these areas a lot.
These definitly have merit, but they require a bit of improvement.

Thanks Indira. Yeah, this was a quick day's test to see what it was like. I left things blank as more of a blank canvas for others, but if i ever used it or came back to it, i'd place a large market/bazaar around the central tree trunk, and have nobles dwelling about the palaces. I even tried a treetop flying ship dock, which worked pretty well too _________________________ Wyrin

Very clever Wyrin! :)
I understand this I very much an idea that you just have implemented to see if it would work and indeed it did, very well at that! The references in fantasy and fiction to treetop dwellings are endless, from Star Wars and The Phantom to numerous D&D scenarios, there I cannot help but liking this a lot! I have the feeling that would you flesh this out for an additional day or two it would be top-notch stuff. And with placeables, dialogues, music, well the works, it will be a superb area to game through any time! :D _________________________ From someone who is starting to feel like an Ent among saplings when playing computer-based D&D games...
