This is an area I've had in mind for a long time, but isn't going to be needed until chapter 4 of my current series Dark Avenger, but I thought it was a nice idea to throw into the contest and make available to others.
The forgotten Ziggurat once stood in a lush jungle, that over the years has given way to swamp. Once an elegant temple to an ancient deity, it has now fallen into ruin, and new inhabitants call it home.
For ease of use by all builders, I've not included custom content such as the walkmesh ramp, which can be found elsewhere (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2HakpaksOriginal.Detail&id=27).
Only got one screenshot for now but will add more later, or go to Link

Great area. Nice work with the placeables; that was a really creative idea making the main structure out of several crypts and floor placeables. The use of the deathgod's furnaces is really cool too. Nice texure job and use of nature placeables.
It would have been nice if you textured and colored each water spot darker though; doing so would add to the swampy feel of the place. _________________________ Ugly_Ducks Portfolio

Perhaps not the most pittoresque arty-farty area we will see in this competition! But if it is atmosphere and creativity that shall be rewarded in this competition, I'd say this comes pretty close to perfection!
Cheers! :)

@ Claudius - my first go at the area had the ziggurat placed in a valley, full of jungle, but I couldn't get the trees right to give a good jungle canopy, so I went with the swamp idea. The area is pretty flat, but fairly true t olife hopefully. I tried the swamp tiles under the water, and wasn't that struck with the effect, but it's a simple thing for anyone wanting to use the area to add

I especially like the use of placeables to create something new and original, it really makes for a compellingly visual area.
The base texturing is good in the surrounds, but could be tweaked a bit imo. From a terrain perspective most of it seemed to be cut from the same height, so it feels a bit dinted pancake pardon the analogy !
In addition, perhaps some swamp tile placeables sitting just under the water level would be a nice add.
Overall, really like this area for alot of reasons..well done and good luck !

Wyrin
I loved the atmosphere and it ran so smoothly. The area was eerie and the nice touches of swamp moss hanging on the trees was so cool. "reminded me of New Orleans or the swampy southern states" It had all the elements of icky swamp crawling!
Good luck on the contest!! _________________________ Michele O'Sullivan

Wyrin,
Great area!
I really like the eerie feel of the swamp, the blending of grasses looked fine to me. I especially enjoyed the sound placements, certainly added to the prehistoric feel of the whole map.
I kept waiting for a dinosaur to pass by. _________________________ Help is good when asked for,

@ Anduraga - Strangely enough, I've had the idea for a while, but it was seeing Apocolypto last week that inspired me to have a go
Not sure I'll ever get the hang of the texturing, but I'm quite happy with the dank dingy swamp look
@ Zodiac - yeah - add some walkmesh helpers for each level and that would be great. As I envisage it, I'm planning on having goblins sneak out along the sides and snipe at the party _________________________ Wyrin

I love it, maybe have ladders so PCs could climb to each level and to the top.

Very interesting and intriguing idea. You seem to have captured the concept fairly well. And I just saw Apocalypto the other day too :)
You could probably have done a little bit better job texturing the bottom part, but this is a solid entry I'd say. _________________________ BouncyRock Entertainment
