i everybody, releasing my next prefab called Desert Oasis and Ruins Prefab .This will be my
entry into contest since time is limited. My other project is taking longer than I estimated so
I will release that when I finish it. This area takes place of the caravan routes which has long been forgotten.
As you stumble out of the desert you approach a walled oasis built to keep the desert sands and wind out but time has
worn the surrounding walls down and it seems the desert has started to reclaim it once again. You notice the surrounding
structures and realize that it must have been an important place in the trade routes. A blending of cultural
influces can be observed in the remaing structures that stand. As you approached the walled oasis your journy begins. I leave
the rest for your imagination to fill in. You can change whatever you want on the area, I hope everybody will enjoy it as I enjoyed making it.
You will need to unzip the package using winrar if you don't have it you can download from "www.rarlab.com" its free.
Inside the folder called Teper's Desert Oasis and Ruins Prefab you
will find the following files and folders they are as follows:
1. Readme.txt
2. Desert Oasis and Ruins.mod
3. Height Map "Desert Mts 3.bmp
4. Screenies posted on the vault.
Note: Added Version 4 of mod with minor changes. Did a little more work on the area and came up with a Half dome Temple which I added into area, also I added some lighting effects to make it a golden dome, in addition I made some minor changes to the temple near area entrance added ruby to it with more structures to the temple and some foliage. Added a saphire to main temple with some lighting effects and added lighting effects near water falls. So this last variation of the area will be my contest entry, Please vote only on area version 4 for contest enjoy. I felt with some of the comments that the area was lacking so I made some changes it was fun to see it progress into final version, Thanks everybody for your input. Comments are always welcome, Please don't forget to vote.

Some Screen Shots of Version 3 with Half Dome Temple
With some of the great feed back I got, I felt like the area needed some final changes so these are screen shots of some minor addition to temples in the ruins. God that ruby is so big, I wonder how much its worth ?
HeHe, enough gold on that temple to start my own kingdom, where is a dwarf when you need one.
I wonder what other goodies exist in that temple, should have brought a couple of cammels along to carry out the loot.
I am looking forward to trying this. I can't wait until someone creates more persian looking buildings. We can then bring Al Qadim to the NWN2 genre. Or even simply to Calimshan.

I'm commenting/voting on version 4:
This is awesome. That texture job is fantastic; it gives the illusion of depth to the sand. You did a great job of using placeables, inparticularly the plant types.
I can learn a lot from this prefab - thank you for posting this up for everybody to check out. _________________________ Ugly_Ducks Portfolio

Hi PinkPrincess, I did some double checking and did not find any missing textures, must be related to your install of NWN2 and Motb with latest patch. You might want to check your install again. You can email me if you still have problems.
Hi PinkPrincess, on this prefab I did not use any hacks but it does require having NWN2 and MOTB with most recent patch. Can you tell me which texture that you are missing ? and I will double check prefab area again since I just recently did a new install of OS and NWN2.
HeHe, Thanks MokahTGS for your vote and comments I'm glad this will stir up the brain well. Should be fun to see what people will come up with.

dand = sand
Anyway...I'm certainly not as artistic as you (and its always easier to critique), but Sands of Solvheil I: The Ruins of Kazatharis might provide some thoughts.

As suggested I have made some minor changes to the mod, I removed the Thayan structure and have replaced it with something more in line. So 2 versions are now available, let me know what you think about version 2. Thanks and enjoy.
Thanks Vakrinon for you vote and comments, hmm... I not sure what type of structure I could put in place and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again.

WOW. Love the dand flying around. Agree with the posters before me regarding the tower. Minor change, but would be the difference between a 9 and a 10.
Thanks for your vote Awildawn and comments, I fell in love with it too.
loudent thanks for you comments the above post will explain the reason for sound effects placement, sorry about the spelling errors..Stinky keyboard hehe.
Ah, well I made the diameter large enough to cover a certain area but did not want it to over welm the area. I wanted it to be realistic, the sound tapering off as you got near the oasis and then finally as you enter the oasis you hear the sounds of birds and creaters and such, with the high winds sound faint in the background. When you wonder back out of oasis then you get hit with wind sound effects giving a dry effect along with placed effects for dust storms. It was tuff trying to get dust effects to mimic moving sand. So in the end I was going for a certain feel that would add to the area and surrounding structures.

I loved this place, even my girlfriend who is not into nwn2 loved this area. Loudent's suggestion of a new academy near ruins makes sens (and gives ideas of mods too).
So I like this. a much better texturing job than I managed in my desert and it does look like a lost ruin surronding the Oasis. The Thay academy structure looks a bit out of place. Making it look more modern than a lost ruin. (although I suppose the concept could be that a Mage academy was recently founded on the ruins). My one big question though......why did you add some of the sounds to an unwalkable part of the area?
