This is the complete set of NWN2 armor items with movement speed penalties to inject some realism into your module or PW. The current penalties are 15% for Light Armor, 30% for Medium Armor and 45% for Heavy Armor, but those are easily altered. I did my best to provide in-depth comments for the scripts, so hopefully even totally inexperienced scripters can tailor these to their needs.
Please post here with feedback, questions or if you need help, thanks. Also, note that I'll probably re-release these as part of the MMP when version 1.5 comes around.
NOTES (as of Release 3)
-All items share the same tag, since they needed to share a set of two scripts.
-The effect is supernatural, meaning it isn't affected by sleep or dispelling.
-All items share their default resref from NWN2 (featuring a '0' at the end, since I duplicated them). As near as I can tell this doesn't create any problems. They'll receive their own unique resrefs eventually, but as the current system doesn't cause any conflicts, it's not a priority.
-As of release 3, effects from spells like Slow, Tortoise Shell etc. shouldn't be affected by the scripts as it only targets permanent effects for removal. If you remove your armor during such an effect, the spell effect will remain.

Good job.
These two scripts would be more useful, imho, as a case for armor objects in the general equip and unequip scripts, so they would apply to all armors and not only those tagged to use them. Because most of us have already a lot of armors created (some of them even with their particular equip/unequip scripts).
The equip script could make use of constants, i.e:
eEffect=EffectMovementSpeedDecrease(iPercent); //Decides on a % decrease of iPercent.
sWarning="Armor Movement Speed Penalty: " + IntToString(iPercent) + "%";
The unequip script could maybe strip a speed decrease effect applied by some other system (for example, script for lame PCs). This could be maybe avoided by checking GetEffectCreator() and not only GetEffectDurationType()). _________________________ Reino de Aldor

Thanks! I've been interested in it for a while too. It injects a little realism into a module or PW, which in my opinion is almost always a good thing. _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link

Release 3 is up. The scripts should only remove the permanent slow effect as applied by the armor now. This should mean Slow, Tortoise Shell, Foundation of Stone and similar spells will remain if you try to remove your armor in their duration. _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link
"Freedom of Movement" makes the character immune to slowing regardless of the effect being magical, extraordinary or supernatural.

Oh, something else I noticed is that Freedom of Movement seems to remove the effect icon without interfering with the effect itself. Not sure why or more importantly if it can be fixed, but I'll check that out too. _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link

I was actually aware that it'd potentially mess with Slow, but I blanked on those last few. I know of a way to prevent it (by adding another conditional), but that can wait until release 3 probably. Mind you that'll only be a few days or so off, as I already have some features I want to add in, the first ideally being another set that is closer to PnP in spirit.
Anyway, I really appreciate your feedback knsgf, it's massively handy to have people examine my scripts, since that's completely-non-arguably my biggest weakness when it comes to the toolset. _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link
Third bug: unequipping armor also dispels "Foundation of Stone", "Iron Body", "Tortoise Shell" and similar spells which make a use of movement speed penalty. I can send you improved scripts if you wish.

The files are up, let me know if any problems surface, but hopefully they shouldn't, as I tested the different armor items with various combinations of effects, spells and resting. _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link

Hello again, I finally have everything working thanks to assistance from Lugaid of the Red Stripes (for the second time, no less). The files will be up soon, after I've done some double-double-triple-checking. Thanks for your patience.
Moving on, I'd be happy to post up some movement speed alterations that at least resemble the rules present in PnP. Anyone know a good online source for rules that might be worth looking at? _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link
Dwarves already move fast in NWN2 compared to PnP. They and the other small races have a base of 30 feet when they are 20 in PnP. So you could say they are simply getting bonus speed out of armor. :-) _________________________ Shadow Thief: Crimmor and Path of Evil blog Link

Hey guys, I'm just going to remove the file for now to stop unfortunate people using it unwittingly. It'll be reposted as soon as I get it working, with the aid of the scripting gods (also known as the very helpful people over at the Bioware forums). _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link
Waiting for the initial bugs to be worked out, however, this is something I've long wanted to do in my campaign.
In addition to asking people to walk everywhere for RP purposes, it doesn't seem right that someone in Full Plate can move along as quickly as someone in regular clothing.
This also brings out the option of having MW or magical armor that minimizes or removes completely any movement penalties (just by making it a stock item without the scripting).
Thanks very much... will vote when I've tested this in game.

Thanks, knsgf! I'll try and have them fixed up in a few hours. I'll renumber the release when they're replaced. _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link
Found a couple of bugs:
* in i_ap_armor_eq.nss the slowdown effect isn't properly tagged as supernatural so it vanishes when character rests,
* i_ap_armor_ue.nss checks the first effect, retrieves (but doesn't check) the second then ends. Therefore if speed penalty effect isn't the first one it won't be removed when character takes off her armor.

Incidentally. does this account for dwarves?
"Dwarf base land speed is 20 feet. However, dwarves can move at this speed even when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load (unlike other creatures, whose speed is reduced in such situations)." _________________________ NTB's Hills and Valleys Vol. 00

Awesome work as usual apep. This, as with many things Apep makes, will be in our upcoming pw Legacy: Dark Age of Britain. _________________________ Admin, Legacy: Dark Age of Britain. Link
