An annoying bug with bardsongs is that they cancel any inspirations you have going, making them far less useful than they ought to be. This fixes that problem, so bardsongs will not cancel inspirations.
Unzip into your override directory, and enjoy!
Version 1.1: fixed Ironskin so that it actually works
Looking at the source code in stock NWN 1.06, it does appear that this mod is now unnecessary/obsolete. _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link

This is fantastic! It's something we bards really needed badly. Thankyou very, very much.

I love these scripts and have been using them for a month now. Drastically improves the experience of playing a bard, and makes bard songs far more useful a weapon than they were before. _________________________ My NWN Blog FRW Character Creator
Lanessar: What would be the advantage of distributing as an ERF? Overwriting the base scripts runs the risk of losing it entirely next time Obsidian releases a patch. Worse, it makes it harder to uninstall, should a patch somehow break it.
In any event, thanks for the generous vote! Same goes to BrennKneecleaver! _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link

Well done. This was greatly needed.
You could make an ERF version as well, we could simply overwrite the base scripts with these, I believe. _________________________ Lan's Placeable Groups v1.5
The functions for damage resistance and damage reduction both include a parameter to specify what kind of damage it affects. The damage reduction function includes more parameters. For example, you can specify that cold iron weapons bypass the protection. But since the song is supposed to be 5/-, that distinction doesn't matter here. _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link

I believed that damage resistance as it's implemented in that script will reduce any incoming damage type by 5 and damage reduction only works on physical attacks. That's the way it is in PnP at least. I've tested this, however, and can't confirm that. The damage reduction message only appears some of the time, but only on physical attacks- I never saw it with a lightning bolt. But with the intermittent way the message appears I can't be positive that it's not working on the lighning bolt.
What exactly is the difference, in this context? _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link

Good work. One thing to note though- Ironskin is applying Damage Resistance as opposed to the Damage Reduction stated in the text of the song. Damage Resistance is better, so there probably won't be many complaints, but I had to point that out.
Solwen: You're right about ironskin. Obsidian delivered it broken. I just uploaded a fixed version. I don't see any problem with Curse Song, though.

Great work. This does really help the bard characters in the campaign.
I have a slightly related question though. I been testing it but it seems like that the bard song ironskin doesn't seem to have any damage reduction effect. I think there is a similar problem with curse song also. I was wondering if you are able to fix this bug at all.
I'm also considering a rule-change modification, that would make bard songs and inspirations more powerful if the bard is wielding an instrument. I think there should be some advantage of wielding instruments, beyond the ability to use the items' special powers.
This should be a straightforward change to make; the question is what the bonuses should be. Some possibilities include:
- Increase effective level and/or perform ability.
- Directly increase the power of the song/inspiration.
- Increase the duration of the song.
The bonus can be different for each song/inspiration. So, what do you think would be appropriate? Feedback is welcome.
