Description
Updated with new 1.05.912 spells.2da


Eldritch Blast Fix V1.0:

1) Fix the Eldritch Essence bug: Basically, you hit a mob with an eldritch essence and it supposed to last few more rounds. Whenever you use the same blast again and miss, all effects gone instantly.

2) Fix the Eldritch Chain ranged touch check bug: when the chain jumps from the first to the second target, it does two ranged touch checks on the second target. Tiny bug tho.

3) PnP Eldritch Doom: "An eldritch doom deals eldritch blast damage to any number of targets designated by you and within 20 feet" from Complete Arcane(3.5)
I can't make "any number of targets designated by you" happen but I'm sure it won't hurt you and your allies anymore Btw, it blasts from you and not a long range AoE anymore.

4) Target-self Hideous Blow also comes with this package.

5) All ranged touch blasts are able to do sneak attack and critical really means double damages, not just a text only.

hey follks, bit of an update to my last comment. after fixing the spells.2da for motb i noticed that the nw_i0_invocatns.nss wasn't fully motb compatible so i fixed that as well. click the link in my sig to go to the fixes. i made 2 files available there one is just an motb update to ndsman's original work and the second is a full repackage of his original plus the changes i made.
If you use em for modules make sure you guys credit him not me he did all the work i just updated it :)

Been a long time since this was uploaded but I still use it for the hideous blow and pnp doom fixes. For those of you that are having issues with the pnp doom I modified the spells.2da to not only update it for motb compatibility but i also changed the way the doom works. Instead of the "hack" way of changeing the hostile setting to 0 to get it to work in non pvp areas I changed the target types to include everything except for trap triggers.

What that means:
In a full pvp area the spell will function like the following.
If you target yourself and cast it casts
If you target an enemy and cast you will move to that enemy and then cast
If you have no target and cast it will bring up the location targeting marker and when you click somewhere it will move you there then cast
(unfixed so far if you target a placeable and cast it wont move you to the placeable not sure why so when destroying doors and items you have to manually move there first)

In a No pvp area.
Normally personal range hostile spells wont cast in no pvp areas the only "legal" workaround I found was to change the valid targets to everything except trap triggers.
But you still cant target yourself and cast in a no pvp area you have to clear your target then cast it to get the location reticle then click the ground where you want to cast it and it casts.

Downside sometimes it takes a second to pick a target or to clear your target.

Upside now it works everywhere.

It can take some playing to get used to the way you have to target now but its worth it to have this spell function the way its supposed to :)

link to the updated spells.2DA will be in my signature once it gets approved (this 2DA also has the hideous blow fix that ndsman did in it and is motb-1.10.1116 compatible)

As others have mentioned, I also had problems with El Doom. In areas that were no pvp, I was not able to cast it.
I've found a fix though.
In the spells.2da, there is a reference for HostileSetting to be 1. If you change this to 0, you can cast the spell at any time.
Reasoning behind this is that the change of the target of ElDoom to be the self, No PVP areas prevents harmful spells that target self.

Yep, that true.
Hostile spells can't be cast on character if in no-PvP area.

Hmm... Maybe if range was changed to Personal, like Call Lighting?

Thanks for fix :) They work great and makes the warlock more enjoyable.

But there is problem with your PnP Eldritch Doom. It only works in Full PvP areas, but not in no-PvP areas. I've tested it out in the OC and Vordan's.

Hi,

I only need, and so tested "hideous blow", it works like a charm...
Only it did take me a moment to realize that it does actually work... If the normal melee damage kills the mob, the eldrich blast damage is just lost and not shown at all, took me a moment to realize that...

Question:
What's the procedure to add your hideous blow fix to work with other packages/fixes?

I had a problem using the fix. All worked fine except the Hideous Blow. The self-cast worked good but. Later, when I hit some creature with it, the extra magical damage from eldrich blast is applied on me, not on the creature!
The creature takes the phisical damage from the melee attack as normal.
Any clues ?

Yes, simply place all the files in the override directory.

_PnPDoom version includes 1 - 5 under description.

_DefaultDoom version includes 1,2,4,5 only.

Most changes are made via nw_i0_invocatns.nss, I'd tried to change Hideous Blow too but the fundamental attack/damage functions are hardcoded. I couldn't find a way to work around :/

To Steven:

I'd just ran some more tests and found nothing wrong. Are you using another mod with a different spells.2da? Coz the targeting changes are made via spells.2da

You can keep other fixes without the spells.2da except Hideous Blow and Eldrich Doom.
Or you can open my spells.2da using Excel, look for Hideous Blow and Eldrich Doom, replace both rows on your other spells.2da file.

I was trying to learn how to "fix" some of the bugs with the warlock class and just stumbled over this. This is wonderful news.

Of course, I had to open your files. I can not find WHAT you changed.

For example, how did you change the touch based blast attacks to make it crit-able and sneakattack-able.?

How about, when I compare your nw_s0_ieldblast.nss to the zipped script nw_s0_ieldblast.nss in the main NWN2 folder, they are the same. SOOOO why did you include it here? Am I just not looking at the right things?

Obviously, I'm also VERY new to the toolset.

Anyway, can you clear these things up?
Ultimately, I'd like to drastically change the implimentation of Hideous Blow. And as tried to learn about it, which I still can't find where your HB assigns the damage effect, I was lead to learn about all of the Warlock effects.

So enlighten me, if possible.

I have had trouble using Eldrich Doom with this fix installed. When I click on the Eldrich Doom button on the quick spell list, the button would look highlighted, but nothing else happened. When I click on another blast shape, like eldrich cone, the invocation would appear in the action que at the top center of the screen and then be cast. I tried Eldrich Doom with no target, myself as target, and the monster as target all with the same result.
Am I missing something I should be doing to invoke this?
If I can't get the Eldrich Doom fix to work, can I remove it but keep the other fixes?
Thanks for you efforts in making this helpful fix.
