An overview of weaponmaster weapon choice, including single weapon or 2 weapon fighting styles. Also, a fighter/frenzied berserker/weapon master build that strives for high damage. (NOTE: Some things have been brought to my attention that I need to update / discuss. So currenty this is out of date)
That's terrific news - as long as Obsidian doesn't decide that this is a bug and "fix" it in a patch.
In NWN1, all three factors would stack, and you'd have a range of 13-20, if the sword was also keen. Using a weapon with an 18-20 threat range, you could get the threat range to 10-20! That was a little excessive. But by allowing you to use Ki Critical with either Keen or Improved Critical, you can get a falchion's threat range to 13-20 - quite respectable.
The fact that this doesn't work as advertised makes all the difference for anybody considering a WM build. The Bioware boards were full of posts from people taking the documentation at its word, and concluding that WM only made sense if you planned to specialize in weapons like greataxe or scythe, where the bonus from Ki Critical would be better than Improved Critical. _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link

I have tested, and with a Greatsword, Improved Crit, and Ki crit, you have a 15-20 range. Improved doesn't stack with keen, nor does either Keen or Improved double Ki Crits bonus.
What does that mean - "the rest of the weapons base crit does"?
Your crit chance is based on two factors - the threat range, and the confirm roll. The threat range is based on the weapon, and one of three things - keen, Improved Crit, or Ki Critical. According to the docs, only one of those will have any effect, as they don't stack. (Has anybody tested to confirm this?) Ki Critical is better with the scythe, but Keen or Improved Crit is better with the falchion.
The confirm roll is based on none of those three factors - It's based on your attack bonus, your opponent's armor class, and Power Crit. _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link

Also, you say to get Improved Critical at level 12. Note that this becomes useless at level 16(WM 7) when you get Ki Critical, since they don't stack (or at least that's what the prestige text says).
Two potential flaws in your analysis of preferred weapons:
1. You didn't consider Greatsword. There was a thread on the Bioware forums in which somebody did extensive computations comparing Greatsword to Falchion, finding that in nearly every circumstance, the Greatsword had better expected damage output.
2. The confirm roll is not based on the crit range. The confirm roll is just a second "to hit" roll - if you hit, then the crit is confirmed. Power Critical does give you an extra +4 to this roll. but your chance to confirm will be the same regardless of which weapon you pick. _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link
