This is a C# program which displays 2da files in a grid format, allowing viewing and editing, (copy, insert, and delete). It requires the .Net 2.0 framework in order to run.
version 1.16

1. Scroll bars should automatically appear when the
data exceeds the window size. All I can suggest is
that you insure your xp and .net framework are current.
2. options->editmode->auto

Overall, this is a great tool - thanks for making it!
A couple suggestions:
1.) Put a scroll bar on the right-hand side of the editor. My mouse wheel finger is freakin' tired & constantly hitting 'page up' and 'page down' is annoying.
2.)Make it so you don't have to double-click the cell for you to be able to copy/paste stuff. When editing hundreds of lines, this feature would speed things up a great deal.

'better than excellent, Recommended to everyone'
Can't beat that Compare function!
Occasionally I get some issues when I'm low on memory and the window(s) want to refresh repeatedly, but I suspect that's a .NET thing. I use the program every day, just about, and it's never screwed up or crashed. TlkEdit2 formats the text nicer, but this & that work well together. Thanks, dude!! _________________________ All the world's a stage ... but so what.

Makes for a great editor of 2das - a bit slow on the load of larger 2das - but very solid and stable! never even came close to any performance issue! _________________________ |Morbane|
To clarify my previous comments regarding column auto fill, the new column header, (label), needs to be added with notepad. The fields will automatically be added to the 2da file when opened by NWN_2daEditor.
I added the column auto fill option to address
the issue of newer 2da files having extra columns. The columns will initially have **** for all field values. To change a new column's fields to another value, e.g. 1, select the column by left clicking the column label, then do a replace all with the all selected option to replace **** with 1.

This is indispensable for merging various haks together. The compare function great and it will automatically format text files and repair some broken 2das that tlkedit2 won't open.
I actually use this tool, notepad and tlkedit2 at the same time when handling larger projects. Each program has its own strengths and I can work so much faster with all three utilities.
My only criticism about this tool is that it won't add extra columns. I've had to do some heavy manual editing to fix appearance.2da since I failed to notice that some of the pre SoZ haks were minus one column due to an SoZ upgrade. But then the other programs wouldn't do that for me either. _________________________ Co-founder of the PW (open beta) Sea of Dragons. Exactly what I was looking for, a simple straight forward program to make a simple edit to a 2da file - works perfectly, looks slick, and is simple and easy to use. Thanks a ton for creating this! _________________________ "If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain."

The last column, Slots, is missing, resulting in the error
Field count does not match the header count
My row 84 looks like this :
84 84321 ArcaneSpellFailure **** 2 27 **** 84346 84347 1
We must be using differnt versions. I have MOB, with the latest patch.
Rows 91 thru 126 are padding lines.
Anyway, if your line 84 is a padding line, you will need to add the missing column with notepad.
This will need to be done for all rows missing the last column. If you add rows in notepad, 2daEditor
will automatically renumber them if you Open/Save the file.
I'm trying to use complete craftsman. I need to edit the 2da's to change the settings. However, most of hte 2da's I try and open fail with the error that the poster above gets.
itempropdef.2da
Invalid line 87
Row 84
Field count does not match the header count
I can't make anything out of these files in Notepad. My Open Offic Calc just corrupts the files so badly the toolset doesn't open. I'm starting to get very frustrated with these 2da files.

Thanks for this solid tool. Please dear author look to Nihlar's answers, this is my wish for your next version too.
The problem is with the 2da file, row 467. There is a space in the label field which results in an extra field, (six fields for this row and only five header columns).
I don't have NWN2 currently installed, so I can't test the effect this will have in the game.
The number 470 in the error mesage is the line number of the file, including the version number, blank lines, and header labels, before the actual row data.
I get an error when I open my soundset2da
Invalid line 470
Field count does not match header

This is a great program for anyone who's editing 2DA files who just needs a quick program. It works for Vista 32-bit edition, which is the platform that I'm using.

As a after note,I just used the tlkedit2 to open the 2da i fixed and saved with this tool.

Being a person with limited expertise in messing with 2da's and so on( meaning almost none. I always have mess things like this up. and I don't always have time to figure out how to do these things.)I have to confess this is really easy to use. Just open two files, adjust the window to the area you are working on, and simply cut and paste the whole thing.I used it today for the first time, and it was easy to understand and easy to use .while i am sure that some improvements could be made, the ease of use and the minimal time it took to begin using it, and for the successful editing of a 2da that worked on the first try, this definitely deserves a good vote.

@nwnzor: only thing I find wrong with it is that it does the same thing as the toolset does; when it saves 2das, you can't open them in tlkedit2 without that tool giving you an error message. I hope the low vote doesn't put you off, but I can't really give it a better one for the reason above.
2Dru,
Must be something inherent in the DataGridView control, which I believe is new to VS 2005. Can you scroll through the cells using the keyboard, (Arrow keys, Tab, Home, End) ?
Thanks for the suggestion. I updated my dot net version. I can now resize the window, but the scroll bars are off in the nether reagons of the window where I can't use them. I can see them breifly when I resize the window, but when I stop they move out of view.
