Description
Trying out the NWN2 toolset for the first time? This tutorial will get you started on building exterior areas in the NWN2 toolset, familiarise you with the main tools, and give you a number of tips you will need as you become more accomplished. It won't make you an artist, but at least your first are won't look like a 6 year old made it!

Great intro to building toolset. Something to potentially add at the start is that the outside portion is not walkable, only the centre (I struggled to find this out after).

this tutorial covers pretty much everything what i experienced since i started using the toolset. since i'm not the most talented builder of exteriors i downloaded the word-file for gaining some hints and found the sequence where you listened what will be done when and why and blah a little bit helpful. but also i'd expected a few more screenshots and descriptions on detail-work.
nevertheless a short and usefull tutorial. keep up the good work and thanks a lot for submitting! :) _________________________ A Bet, A Corpse A Corpse, A Vote

Its really great to have a tutorial that takes you through the process in steps like this, but without assuming I need to be told to build a specific thing .i.e. I get to create and try out each step, while the tutorial guides me. The right balance of tips and steps, and not missing some crucial info (like how to move the map around) that I just could not find in other tutorials!

Great Job! Its really helpful because it address a lot of confusing issues such as limits to trees, grasses and textures. This is very confusing if you don't know what's happening when you try to lay something down and nothing responds. Keep them coming!

Some useful tips that go beyond the basic toolset tutorials. Thanks for sharing. Please continue building on it with more advanced tips and techniques. For instance, discussion of surface mesh and how it determines where you can raise/lower, flatten and even color could be useful. Also why flatten sometimes raises terrain... _________________________ E.C.Patterson Gaming Parents Studios

Sorry, but nobody speaks HOW to build an exterior area. There are only sugestions and a lot of text without any screen. _________________________ The Ancient NWN Spanish Community Link

Nice basic tutorial, but could use a bit of pictures (pics goes a long way when learning).
Based on the description, I expected a lot more artistic advice (E.G. what texture to use when making a lake). Hope your next tutorial will show me, step by step, how to make a realistic cave entrance or a nice silvery lake *wink*.
Also prefer tutorial that can be downloaded, so I can access them later without using the net, but not a big issue, since I can get the same result with copy/paste to a word document :).
Please don't take the rating, as "I never want to see anything from you again". From this tutorial I can see you are holding back and hope you will share some of that knowledge for your next one. I will certainly read it.
