This is a basic tutorial on how to set up a new effect using the NWN2 toolset. From here you can learn how to make new visual effects placeables or even new spell effects.

Very useful tutorial that helped me get started with the editor. I would like to have seen more information on the various types that can be made and a bit more information in other areas in general.
The text used was difficult to read in places. _________________________ World of Althéa Blog: Link

Definitely helpful! It would be nice to see how to create more effects, but it really helped me to understand how to get started with custom special effects. Thanks! _________________________

A nice enough first introduction to the Visual Effects plugin, but very limited in scope (essentially a walkthrough for only one type of effect. A good base nonetheless for further experimenting). A more in-depth guide to the plugin would now be welcome.
The text colours make part of the document very difficult to read. Had to reformat to make it easier on the eyes.
Thanks for taking the time to do this and sharing. _________________________ E.C.Patterson Gaming Parents Studios

A bit more of a difficult topic than your other tutorials, but more ground breaking because of it. This is the only usable tutorial I have found on the effects editor, and actually pretty easy to follow this editor seemed impossible for a non-techie like me before I started with it. The DLA board comments were helpful too useful pointer.
Follow the link in the description above - there's a long debate on this very problem... I find the best way is to follow the steps:
1. Affiliate your module to a campaign using the campaign editor. Make sure you set current module to use campaign (also in the editor).
2. Save your module.
3. Close the toolset.
4. Make your effect, save it in the campaign directory.
5. Close the toolset.
6. Open your campaign. You should now be able to see it.
That may seem laborious, but does seem to be the only way to make it work 100%. _________________________ Works of B G P Hughes: Link
