Great tutorial. I guess I would've had to spend days to find out about the naming conventions etc.
Please please do continue it!

Extremely helpful. The more tutorials the merrier! Also I noticed you were on 24, so I thought you deserved the extra vote and quick! _________________________ AP Magical Miscellanea Package (v1.5, over 750 items): Link

I only really skimmed this, but what I saw looks good! Simple and easy-to-understand. Would love to see the remaining chapters. _________________________ In production: The Dragon Dynasty All my other stuff

perhaps you could post a glow map you made here so i can see the file and how it was constructed?
thanks

thanks for this wonderful tute, got me up and running with reskinning amor.
i am having a problem getting the glow map to work on armor though.
i have setup a file, properly named per the naming conventions and exported as a DDS with a separate alpha map embedded as described.
nothing glows though, any thoughts?
thanks

Thank you so much for the "Using_Gimp_to_Fix_Chain_Shirt_5.pdf"! I was finally able to learn how to make a new texture to replace one of the default textures. Very good and detailed instructions!
Nuclear Arbitor: do you have Adobe reader for your browser? The pdf's automatically load into your browser as a document, and then the reader gives you the option of saving a copy of the file.
The armor reskinning tutorial just covers things specific to NWN2 at the moment, so you might not find it very useful as a general tutorial. The gimp one might be useful to you though. Send me your email address through the vault messaging system and I'll send you the pdf if you don't want to download the plugin for adobe reader. The vault messaging system doesn't allow file attachments.

Thank you. I'm very toolset-dumb and your tutorials told me exactly what I needed to know after I spent hours in frustration hunting around for info and doing a lot of trial and error.
i still cant get the dl to work but I'd be interested in seeing the tutorial and gimp parts. I'm trying to learn how to skin but i don't have nwn2. would you be willing to email them to me?
none of the dl appear to work, I've tried multiple times over the last half hour. takes me to s.nwnvault.ign... and sits there with a blank page. are they broken or do i need to try back later?

Thank you, thank you, Monkeybarrel!
Yes, it is my software. Photoshop Elements completely hides knowledge of the alpha layer from the user. I am currently busy guessing how to combine layers and write to Targa files in such a way as to produce results that I can understand. I have succeeded in erasing the eye, but at the cost of making the side panels of the tunic totally pitch black! I'll get it, one way or another. *she grimly grits out between clenched teeth*
Maybe I will download Gimp!
*snuggles*

p.s. My other test projects, like adding tiger stripes to a tail, lightening up some armor, making some racy outfits for Pravita (where, by the way, ALL of your stuff we are aware of sits in our haks), have all gone much smoother, all thanks to your tutorial. Yay!
Hi there Ephralia! Based on the images, I'm guessing the alpha channel of your tint map has an area blackened out where the eye is supposed to go. I'm not familiar with using photoshop elements, but there should be a way for you to select just the alpha channel on an image and fill in any eye shaped markings you find in it with white.

A ten for me, because I finally found a tutorial I can follow. And I can finally use the hide/chainshirt 5. Finally.
Thank you for all your hard work.

I love the concept -- all the tools and info you need to retexture armor, all in one package. Well, almost everything. I'd like to see the tutorial completed all the way to Part 8. Here's hoping that we'll get to see the complete tutorial soon. :) _________________________ Yay, I have a blog. Faithless: The Making of an NWN2 Module
Good stuff. I use it regularly, especially to keep the alpha's straight for making the Normal maps. Thanks!

Just the thing I was looking for to help me with some custom races for NWN2; You and Runnerduck are my heroes, and the Stonechild, Goliath and Warforged races will make it into NWN2 as soon as I can get the models made.

What you've done so far is fantastic, but please post No. 5! I'm trying to make armour components and I've hit a brick wall, pleeeease!
They will. I just needed to take a break from the game after our last armor release :) I should have part 5 posted sometime in the first week of August.
