Name  Countdown Timer
Author  The Fred
Submitted / Updated  11-14-2009 / 11-14-2009
Category  Other
Patch  1.23
NWN2Game  All
Description
A simple countdown timer builders can use in a variety of ways in their modules. Includes is a .erf containing an update script and an include file allowing you to start, pause, unpause and end the timer simply and easily.

Use of the timer will require some basic scripting knowledge, though the include file, "INC_GUI_TIMER", contains notes explaining it in more detail.

Anyone with knowledge of NWN2 GUI can easily modify the timer further (for example, the font and style can easily be changed by editing the XML file), but that is left up to you.

Feel free to use and/or modify this however you want, though if you do use it, some credit would be appreciated :-).

It does just what The Fred says it does. Therefor, if you are looking for a timer of some sort, this is "a Must Have" since it's simple to set up. So by that standard, I vote a 9.

Gee, thanks. I was actually thinking the other day that this could have used some increase/decrease timer functions too, which I may add if I get 'round to it, but I guess if you know a little scripting that's not hard to do.

The script execution seemed like the best thing to do for when the timer runs out, since it lets you have some sort of failure event (like death or whatever) quite easily. I haven't actually used the timer much myself yet (I've only just started building a module and I'm partway through putting it into a simple destroy-all-the-dummies challenge) so it's good to hear you're finding it useful. Thanks again for the vote!

I added this to my campaign over the weekend. I wanted to comment, after now using this, that it is *FANTASTIC*. Your inclusion of a string allowing a script to fire after the timer ends was, let me tell you, a huge time saver.

If I could give this 11, I would.

Nice. I was thinking I'd have to make this on my own! :)

I appreciate things like this. Thanks!

Thanks, it's a pretty simple system but I figured it could have a lot of uses, particularly for making those sorts of timed missions that you often get in other games.
