Player's Handbook is an in-game manual add-on for Neverwinter Nights 2. It presents detailed information on all playable races, classes, skills and abilities, feats, and spells in an organized format.
Refer to readme included in the download for installation instructions and usage notes.
Enjoy.
Update Jan 09, 2008 I am no longer actively developing new content for NWN2, as such, several of my old projects, namely United Colors and Player's Handbook, have been passed on to other developers for maintainance and updates.
Player's Handbook is currently maintained by fire&ice and Dragoon001. (Thanks.) Visit this page for the latest revisions.

Hi again,
Managed to fix my problem after updating the xUI interface (ironic sort of given the current list of posters).

Hi there,
I was trying to track down a bug that has occurred with NWN2 (no MOTB) after upgrading to v1.10116.
The General (and only General) feats not appearing in the Character screen (though are still active and can be selected during level up).
I've tracked through my override directory (and removed offending feat.2da files) but wonder whether anyone has noticed a similar problem. THe reason why I'm posting is this forum is that the player's handbook has a feat.2da file and I'm wonder whether it's at fault?
Doesn't work in multiplayer for me... :((( In singleplayer everything is just fine.

Janfsd, for the PHB to work in MotB, you'll also need to copy the ingameguix1.ini from your program files game directory to your My Documents\NWN2\UI\default folder, and add the SCREEN_PLAYERSHANDBOOK=gn_phbscreen.xml to it per the readme's instructions. That will allow you to bring up the player's handbook in MotB. You will also need to add the (dialog.tlk) classes.2da, feat.2da, racialsubtypes.2da, racialtypes.2da, & spells.2da files to the compiler's IN folder & compile them to add them to the PHB's database. You can find the files in your Program Files NWN2\Data folder in the 2DA_X1.zip file... Instructions provided in the compiler's readme...

See if got a file double. Check your Override and UI folder.
Could be that the files override each other
It seems that doesn't work with 1.10 patch and expansion. :(

One of my personal essentials. No NWN2 without this one.

Great Idea, Great Execution

Sorry for the delay. I downloaded and (without compiling) works OK but with a lot of badstrref (of course).
Another issue is that when you press a letter, the things that are showed don't start with that letter (because of the Spanish translation).
I then put my custom 2da files and tlk in the gn_phb_compiler/in folder an try to recompile.
But, as you said, runme.exe throws an error because my dialog.tlk is not in english.
I think if you loaded it anyway it should work, because alphabetical sorting in most western languages is very similar (in Spanish only accentuated vowels and our Ñ would differ).
If your offer is still valid, I would like to take a look at the specifications in order to make it work in Spanish.
You can mail me to arvirago(at)gmail.com if you prefer. _________________________ Reino de Aldor
This is a nice addition to the game I can easily recommend to anyone.
I do have a few suggestions for improvement:
1.
For easier finding informations about things where the player is not sure in which category to search for, it would be helpful to have an overall alphabetical index.
2.
In addition to the alphabetical index in some categories, I would like to have an overall scrollable index.
3.
In the spell category an additional overall alphabetical spell list would be helpful.
4.
Instead of the buttons for flipping pages within some of the categories, I would prefer to have a scrollable list.
5.
I would love if you could add a reference for all the weapon abilities (like Mighty, True seeing and so on - I know some are just spells).
I would like to make one last suggestion, where I do not know if it is possible and this is to implement a search function.
Thank you for sharing!
Greetings

A handy addition for any player (vote in line with NWN2 voting standards).
One of those mods that you don't know you need until you try it, then you realize you cannot play without it. Reminds me of a similar feature in ToEE. Excellent job.

This is a great tool to have. I recommended this everyone on our PW. Link _________________________ The darkness and howling wind before you is frightening. Dare ye continue into the darkness?....
Very useful.
Saves time from flipping through the real thing, which is not always handy mid-game.
A few stray comments:
Font looks a bit too small on higher res.
Full list in addition to alphabetical break-down would help too.

I think it is about 9.50 rating. Why I am just "thinking": see, in Russian version with 1.04 patch I am able to read only about races, and all other information in going blank. So.... eeehh... just thinking.
It is a good idea, to make such a thing!
It doesn't work with non-english versions of the game. I specifically coded it to not read non-english tlks. I wasn't too sure how alphabetical sorting is going to work out on some language, especially the asiatic languages, so no non-english. :\
That said, if you're interested in helping with producing localised versions of Player's Handbook, I'll be more than happy to provide you with the code specifications. _________________________ [dla][united colors][player's handbook][other submissions]

I'll download and see if it works ok in Spanish with custom tlks and 2das. _________________________ Reino de Aldor
