Tired of the "buff ball" graphics? They obstruct your view, and also reduce your framerate.
This mod doesn't remove them entirely - it simply tones them down. You'll still see an indication that the spell is on, but you don't have to give up drive cam mode for lack of visibility.
Affected spells include:
- Mage Armor (and Greater)
- Protection from Alignment
- Protection from Arrows
- Protection from Energy (and variants)
- Shield
- Ghostly Visage (and ethereal variants)
Let me know if I missed any particularly annoying ones!
Version 1.1: Added Entropic Warding
Version 1.2: Added Entropic Warding, Light to the No Effects version.
Version 1.3: Added Globe of Invulnerability, Mirror Image
Version 1.4: Added Invisibility Sphere
Version 1.5: Improved Mirror Image (based on work by Sorceress Ashura)

I couldn't stand playing a caster without this. Thanks!

Thank you for this great mod. It does make many effects much more bearable and the game more playable.
I rather like your Mirror Image too, though it might be a bit much for a caster main if one wants to play in character camera mode.
Just wish the mod were a bit more extensive, included stuff like Stoneskin/Barkskin/Spiderskin/Iron Body/Stone Body and probably a few others. Fortunately most of the gaps can be filled with other mods.

Is it possible to make the Mirror Image effect just glowing balls like before, but they don't actually spin around? That way you could tell exactly how many images are left.

Thanks as well for making the game BEARABLE @ driving mode with a cleric or mage in the team buffing you up. Btw do you know if there is a mod to decrease the nerf effects like diseased (looks like you become a tornado of crap) and other similar effects? _________________________ -------------Role Player since 1997-------------

I love it. It takes (a bit) of the epic feel out of caster > caster battles but I find it a much nicer overall experience.

The mirror image effect looks very good. I like how you blurred and shadowed the images. Since they couldn't match the character's body shape or even sex, this proved to be a very effective compromise. It's not overbearing or distracting, and yet manages to be obvious enough to provide proper feedback to the player (that the spell is active). Top notch!
Someone really has to rework ALL the effects. NWN1 was perfect. You could recognize any individual buff from the midst of all the effects. You knew when a single spell expired, and you could spot the nature of your enemy's defenses in a single glance! Obsidian on the other hand... is oblivious. I don't even think they understood that 'player feedback' is the primary purpose of spell effects.
Mirror Image is a great start to this. TBH, old graphics or no, I wish I could easily just port over all the NWN1 effects. Why Obsidian felt the need to replace a perfect system with a non-functional one, I will never understand... -_-

Love this, now if somebody would just subdue the weapon effects.

Useful mod.
Even after these changes, I didn't like the 'blurry' effect on Protection From Energy (sp_prot_energy_fx4.pfx) so I deleted that too :)

You've *really* made my game run a lot more smoothly, thanks. Also my PCs get to have conversations with NPCs without being That Glowing Region of Vague Menace.

Much appreciated clubok. My second crack at the MotB OC has been a -lot- more successful because of this.
-Raskae, thanks for the tip. Worked like a charm.
Cheers

BTW, you missed Shield of Faith. I was able to fix my game by copying the effect of my choice (from those in this pack) to sp_shield_faith.sef
I apologize for my absence from this board; I've been taking a bit of a break from NWN2.
For those who don't like MI: I suggest you lift the MI files from the BuffNoEffects version. If you want to go back to the standard MI graphic, simply delete the MI files from your override directory. _________________________ Big Inventory Icons and Character Info Link

The light of sanity taking precedence over the light of buffs. A MUST HAVE. I haven't tried the mirror image yet, but will return with my two coppers afterwards (because it might even qualify for groundbreaking).
Stuff like this is great and much appreciated, but one thing I haven't seen anyone do that's similar to this, is a mod that removes the annoyingly excessive "dripping" effect of some weapons that do elemental damage and such (acid, fire, lightning, etc). It's overdone, and taxing on the hardware besides.
I'd much rather the weapons either show a more more subtle effect indicating the extra elemental damage, or even no effect at all.

Excellent and sensible custom override that gets rid of the incredibly silly and obnoxious visuals that comes with the vanilla game.
As far as the new mirror image, it's a step in the right direction but still a bit too obtrusive and obscures view of things close by as another reviewer commented. If there was a way to reduce the size of the images and cluster them closer together and closer to the PC that might do the trick.
I love the mod, but I've added the Mirror Immage square and I don't like it as it reduces visibility of targets and items close to your character. How do I go about reverting back to the standard mirror image graphic?

I'm not really liking the new 1.5 Mirror image. It looks beatiful, by all means, and I think it perfect represents concealment.... Unfortunately, that means it's also concealing what I'm trying to look at... having to constantly pause and re-align the camera to be able to see who/what is standing right next to me. The blind spots are just too wide.
