Thank you. Great post! It helped me understand a few things about HAK paks that I was missing. The tumblers clicked into place in my brain, so to speak. EXTREMELY HELPFUL!
enoa4:
For testing and development purpose unzip all 5 files into your "My documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\override\-folder.
Open the Toolset and goto "Blueprints > Placed Effects".
Do a "Copy Blueprint" of the "Air Elemental"
Edit your new copy like this: Special Effect: "buto_dropsfx".
You can change "Localized, Recource, Template and Tag" after your own liking.
Now you can place your effects anywhere you want to.
You may want to edit the FX-files with the Visual Effects Editor. Do so, but you have to reload the module(maybe just the area) before viewing the changes. When your satisfied with your effects you can put them in a HAK-file (as you problably know this is just like a ZIP-file) with Tanita's NWN2Packer found on the Vault. Put the hak-file into your hak folder and add it to you module under "Module Properties > Hak Paks". Don't forget to remove the FX-files from your override folder. When distributing your mod the players have to install both the *.mod and *.hak files.
I don't know if this will help you but Good Luck anyway!
Nope, I don't have it. It screwed up autosaving. While moving some of the resources to override (a total guess based on other VFX posts) I got the mod to a point where it would not open. No worries, I made a backup first of course so I am in good shape.
Your effect is perfect for my needs. I'd love to create two versions, one as is the other with a slower drip.
Can you tell me how to add it to a module for development and redistribution. Also, how can I change the drip rate.
Thanks in advance, sorry for all the posts. I am motivated to make use of your fine work.
With the mod open a temp directory is created. Dump all the vfx contents in your zip file into that director. Copy or create a new placeable VFX. Pick drops from the list.
Questions:
1) Do I need to redistribute anything with my mod for this to work for others. If so what and where should it go?
2) You responded to an earlier poster that the drip rate could be changed. I assume this is in the VFX editor. Any tips or tutorials you can point me to. This is my 2nd hour of playing with custom VFX, so I am still a total noob.
I'd love to use this. The movie looks great. I am not experience with visual effects. The movie looks great. I can open the effects file in the toolset effects editor but I don't know how to add this to a module. There are no instructions.

Very good work. I can honestly say that I missed not having drips with the OC. Thanks for a minor thing that adds a lot to the game.
you can ajust the rate in the fx editor, it's open :)

It looks good!, but I think it will be better if the dripping is less frequent. Now it looks a bit as if there's rain leaqueing from the roof.
