There are two main continents in the world of Alandria. The primary one is Arkon. This is the center of commerce and is a great place to get started. The continent of Sudak is very dangerous, but contains great treasures.

Soul Forge is one of the oldest and most popular persistent worlds on listed on Gamespy, having been active and blooming since June 2002.
We have a very experienced and friendly staff and player base combined with a vast continent waiting to be explored by you and your fellow friends and adventurers.
Soul Forge is available 24/7, so whenever you feel the urge to play, we're here for you and you are very likely to find friendly players willing to chat with you or help you out in getting started.
For many of us, players and staff alike, Soul Forge is much like a second home and an alternate reality. Whether you wish to become a great and powerful adventurer, a wealthy capitalist, or just sit around the tavern telling your tales over a hearty ale, Soul Forge offers you all these opportunities plus countless more. Because at its heart, Soul Forge is a persistent world created for every gaming type, we welcome everyone and are happy to be home to both serious role-players and skilled power gamers.
Currently our world offers the gamer many things of which a few are listed below:
- A unique setting with an ancient and ever growing story, written and experienced by both DMs and players. As there are few limits to the human mind, so is the storyline of Soul Forge you can participate in any day.
- A reasonable and steadily increasing level and wealth progression. Soul Forge offers a reasonable pace of experience and gold/equipment where you cannot build your character to 40 in a day, but need weeks of playing. In addition, gold is not as abundant as on many other PWs but leads you to making decisions instead of buying everything.
- A modified CNR tradeskill system. For those players who wish to progress as capitalists and businessmen, our tradeskill system allows you to make gold either selling your wares in game to PC's or NPC's. To allow for selling of wares to NPC's, we have developed item pricing that allows to make a steady living as a crafter without being the ultimate source of gold. To make crafting more attractive, experience is awarded at a reasonable level for reaching the higher stages of a craft.
- Although equipment can be bought from shops and made via tradeskills, the best equipment is not shop bought but acquired from vanquishing the greater evils of the Soul Forge. In your travels, you may come across one or the other very rare items.
- An attentive staff that listens to player suggestions. We are happy to listen to players suggestions as long as they presented in a non-abusive manner. We have, over time, implemented many player suggestions into Soul Forge. While we will not implement or change things we feel are not needed or benefit the player base as a whole, we will gladly take your suggestions into account and discuss them amongst us and other players.
- Interesting and numerous magic items. You will find few to none standard BioWare created items on Soul Forge, as we have put a lot of our time into making magic items that are not overpowering, yet give the players access to useful and needed equipment. We have also created a custom ILR system that allows us to make epic items that players can work toward, and also items that attempt to make all classes enjoyable and useful to play. Whichever path you choose, you will have something to strive towards and work for.
- Many different dungeons and terrains for combat. We offer challenging dungeons for every level and type that have well defined back stories and plots. Travel to lost elven cities, bandit lairs, the Underdark, and kingdoms on other planes. We also have epic dungeons for the truly powerful that take players to long forgotten ruins, ancient temples, vampire keeps, and into the bowel of the abyss itself.
- A modified spell system that allows casters to be efficient past 20 and up until 40 by uncapping most spells and adjusting others.
- Soul Forge offers many means of transport across the realm as perma haste is not an option here due to balance reasons. Thus we have implemented horses to carry you to your destination, wherever it may be and portal stones which bring you back to safe havens should things go bad or you just wish to regroup with your party. Further instruments of travel are available as well, such as coaches which link towns with each other and boats that take you from one island to the next.
- Party play is greatly encouraged on Soul Forge as you will receive no experience penalty whatsoever for being in a party. While parties are only possible across certain level ranges for anti-powerlevelling reasons, they will enable you to travel with your group from 1 to 40 in a few weeks and convey a sense of accomplishment to you.
- We want you to enjoy our PW as much as you can and for that we are constantly available and there to help you not only in game but also on our forums. Our players welcome those who are new and are likely to talk to you extensively and do what they can to get your started. Also, the server will reset every 4 hours to reduce any lag that should occur and area clean up scripts are in place to tidy up junk that has been dropped. Between server resets, messages will be sent out to all players to warn of the upcoming reset and a PvP minigame lasting at most 10 minutes will run for the so inclined. If you dont wish to participate, you wont have to as it is entirely optional.
- All areas have been designed with great detail and care so you will find detail rich and picturesque places along your travels which drive you onwards in your adventures. To achieve this, several small sized haks had to be used which are even downloadable by modem users.

@Flex1
The hak downloads should work without problems.
If you still have problems to download them, please post in the SF forum and you we will notice your post much faster. Sorry for the 7 day delayed answer.
Just follow the above link and then click on forum.

hello. Im trying to play on the server but I need the Staff from the module to repair 2 of their haks. the nic.hak file is corrupted and the tileset 1.hak is corrupted too. I downloaded both the .zip and .rar file to check and they both are damaged. I hope you repair them soon.

To play on SoulForge, you'll need to download 4 haks which are listed on our website and forums (there is a link on this page) and have nwn installed with *both* expansions. As a dialup user, I wouldn't worry about downloading the haks or playing on SoulForge. I designed the haks myself when I was a dialup user. My goal was to get the most bang for the smallest buck, so each hak is kept small so you can download it relatively quickly even on dialup. As far as playing on dialup v/s broadband, I haven't noticed that much difference in quality or preformance myself. I played on SoulForge for almost 3 years with nothing but dialup access, so you should be fine.

Soulforge is an awesome persistent world. It has a deep player base full of players who are always willing to help. It is difficult at first, but this only makes you feel better when you finally start getting higher in levels. It is the only Persistent World that I could call home. I made many friends their, I know you will too if you try it out. It is hard to tell you all about it, so just log in and see for yourself! The website is up at the top of this page.

I've been on soul forge for three months now. After finishing the OCs I went looking for a nice pw. After a couple of weeks and quite a lot of visits to different worlds I ended up on soul forge and I've been stuck since :)
A nice midium-magic world where you have to work for your levels but it's very possible to get to 40.

Only been playing here a couple of weeks, but its one of the most graphically impressive mods I have played on, and were it not for the players and staff I would have likely moved on after my first day. Thanks all, much appreciated!
My thoughts (For proper perspective of my comments, I am a RP'er/concept builder thats has spent the vast majority of my time on RP servers. I'm not a PvP'er/powerbuilder.):
:)
~ Friendly and helpful players and staff.
~ No application process.
~ IME, so far, no 1337 dewds/griefers/munchkins/PK'ers.
~ No lengthy rules list to memorize.(Though there are rules, common sense/consideration should suffice.)
~ No build limitations.
~ No forced RP.
~ Well thought out content in a challenging world.
:(
~ Stealth and melee build w/o decent DR or good casting capability (also, my fave builds to play) will have a challenging time,(In some cases too challenging..) outside of groups.
Powerbuilding is almost a must for anyone that wishes to consider soloing.
~ Availability of unaltered T.S. pretty much negates a stealth builds most useful ability in a PvP situation.
~ RP conversations utilizing party chat/Tells negates the chance of being spyed upon/overheard.
~ Many skills have little to no scripted/IG use outside of RP situations; which in my time here have been few.
All in all, the mod is deff. worth checking out; try it out, you may not leave... :)

Just a quick heads up. Our server resets ever few hours to keep lag low. During this time, we do have server wide mini games that do not affect your character once the main module comes back online. Since we are not primarly a PvP server, this gives everyone who is interested a chance to have some fun. One is an all out fights, and another is a team based events. If anyone is not interested, they can log out for a few minutes until the server resets. I could see how this could catch a new character off guard if they create a new character at the wrong time. However, this does give the player base something to do while the server resets. If we didn't have these short games every few hours, the players would just be kicked off the server and have to wait for a few minutes until the module reloaded.
My apolagies if we offended you. Soulforge isn't a PvP server for the most part, so our player base really doesn't take the reset contest seriously. Hopefully this post will give new players another heads up about the contests, and hopefully let them know why they happen, how often they occur, and why they shoulnd't worry about them. This information is contained in game, on our forums, and in the read me file included in our haks as well. Again, I am sorry that you didn't get a chance to read all our information before the contest began. They are in no way meant to humiliate. Our player base doesn't view them as something serious, and everyone gets along fine afterward with no bragging or ill will you might find in a PvP atmosphere.

i just made my character, logged in, and was reading the server rules/information.
i had barely started, when without warning me and everyone on the server were instaported to some big holding pen. not even a minute later we were dumped in a pvp arena.
my completely new, completely unconfigured level 1 was 1 shotted by the 11 active status effect purple who spawned right next to me.
i hadn't even gotten 1/4 of the way through reading the damned server information!
i havn't been this pissed at a NWN module or its Dm's in a very long time. i take my victories and defeats very seriously, and what they did was worse than insta-killing me themselves and laughing to the server over it.

I have been playing for about two months and this is by far the best place I have played. The DM staff and builders are always there to help.

need files... can't find hak files here and site is down... mirrors needed or need site up... anyone else hosting the hak files
they aren't even listed here in the vault.. many other trivial haks are but the ones needed for this world aren't
Outstanding...simply outstanding! I have been on SF for....going on two years. I still haven't seen every area yet it is SOOOO grand. I have spent 99% of my waking, free time playing since I found Soul Forge :P
The realm is absolutely awesome and extremely well developed. Staff is incredible in their tireless pursuit of constantly expanding, testing, and modifying the realm. Players are all extremely approachable and helpful. The players and staff welcome all new players. The community really is more of a "family". It is easy to get going as older players are more than willing to help the new guys get up and running. We want you to succeed so you will hang around :P
There are role-players and power gamers. The two co-exist really well. I have seen a great increase in rps lately btw.
The DMs do a great job of making sure there are RP events. I believe there is a quota they are required to meet each week to remain DMs. These events actually, in many cases, impact the story-line or lore of the realm.
I highly encourage anyone looking for a great D&D based game to come see us.
WARNING: If you do visit.....you will never leave :P

Soulforge is one of the greatest PWs out there, like many others this server became a second home. The community is one of the greatest things about this server, and the fact that there are horses, breathtaking areas, tradeskills, and an excellent staff make it an easy PW to give a 10 to.

Really well made and exciting world with a great playerbase and staff. If your looking for a mid magic world with a fair challenge, give it a try.

SF is a visually breathtaking world built around its own unique history. A history forged by the players as much as the builders. If you enjoy roleplaying you will find plenty of people to roleplay with here. If however you simply enjoy playing with friends and smashing stuff, you can do that too. Whether you like RP or Powergaming, hunting or crafting what makes SF great and keep people coming back is the community. The players and the staff are equally friendly. The builders always listen to player feedback and makes changes as appropriate to make time spent on SF more enjoyable for everyone

I began playing on the SoulForge server back in November 2002 i have had many great moments on this server and made a lot of good friends to. The server has changed a lot since i first started but it has gotten better and better. In my time with the neverwinternights community ive traveled to many differnt servers played lots of differnt mods but one thing always stayed the same i always went back to soulforge its the only server i could call home. If anyone else decides to give this a try i hope it gives you the same satisfaction it gave me.

I have been on this Mod for nearly three years and I have seen the mod grow from a few areas to an entire world. Lots of things to do, tradeskills and quests. Friendly staff who will help every little problem you have. Friendly players who help new players and old alike. Well I'm about to head to Arkon now. I may see you there. :)
