This is the (somewhat) final version of my Cloud City tileset. I have removed all water tiles and replaced them with bottomless tiles. The tileset continues to have some minor problems with shadowing so I recommend turning shadows off under the area visual settings. Additionally, the new tiles look better with lower fog distances. The screenshot above was taken at 100m however I think the tileset functions ideally at about half that distance.
Issues to be completed at some point other than soon: Loadscreens, Animations, and perhaps the complete removal of trimesh shadows.
Finally, I have an open question to anyone interested the Cloud City tileset: Would you rather the edge tiles drop forever limited only by fog distance (like they do now) or come to a definitive end? I am of two minds on the issue.

Have always loved this set. We use it for a mage city in our module - a belated thank you! _________________________ Lysithea: Farsong designer at nwnlysithea.org

Holy damn.
Thanks in advance. I haven't used it yet but hell if I don't. _________________________ I'm a NWN1 Builder and a NWN2 DM for Jewel of Calimshan PW, who are just out of beta. Link

forget the shadowing, im having problems just seeing the thing. I put the file in the .hak file, and uploaded it with cutom content, but for some reason i just cant seem to find it. maybe im using it wrong... where do I go in the tileset to view the bottomless pit and stuff?

HI,Luv this hak,any chance of you adding in airships 1.1.hak, i'm also in the process of retexuring your hak so it looks totally diffrent from the city tileset. keep up the great work and thank's for putting this hak up for download.

I've been really looking hard at this, and I have found only one problem: the dock pylons probably outght to appear as though they have more support. Even with this (I had to think hard to come up with it), you have my vote!

Ernie, due to what a very nice Arawen said to me, I will change the vote to what it would be if it were to work perfectly. He or she is right. I shouldn't downscore you because of a compatibility issue.
I just have to save before going into an area with that cloud city hak and then restart if necessary. This would be my score if it did go perfectly. :) _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

I've enjoyed playing in modules with this hak, whose floating city effect is really quite nice. The set would be strengthened though with the addition of edge tiles both for city areas and the floating space below since tileseams can be visible. Thanks!

The problem with the Cloud City issues for some players of Enoa's Hythum module involves insufficient RAM and/or Video RAM to load custom content in lower spec computers that lack sufficient RAM and Video RAM. Hythum is a very large module that uses both the CEP and multiple custom tilesets, so the problem is not this hak, nor is it a Macintosh issue. I have asked on the Bioware Custom Content Forums and I have heard from Velmar that there is not any aspect of the Cloud City that would be inherently game crashing. The problem some users have encountered is not a Macintosh issue, but a question of player computer specs. Community members who create custom content such as haks and modules generously donate their time for our enjoyment. Thanks, Dash Handsome! I've enjoying playing in modules with your hak.

Hey,
As noted, I thought this hak was the cause of problems for some Mac users. Arawen and others far smarter than myself seem to have traced this back to another cause.
I do my best to support all platforms and I'm sure Dash_Handsome and other authors do as well. However it's important to keep in perspective this is a fun hobby for most, not professional development and testing on all platforms, or even a wide variety of systems is not always possible. Most authors seem willing to help when asked. I try to help with the constrains of my available time and resources.
I think this is a nice looking hak. It's essential for the Hythum modules I've written. I am greatful for the time and effort put in by the author.

In regards to Steve_Savicki's comment and vote: I was truly appalled to see your vote of "1" for this hak. It seems that it was based on the assumption that the problem was limited to Macs and motivated by disregard for Mac users. It isn't. The loadscreen problem occurs in other operating systems as well. The problem is actually a NWN issue and occurs in other modules that do not include this hak at all. The problem, as I understand it, is related to shadowing and 'skyboxes', involves a KNOWN NWN engine problem, one which will be rectified in NWN2. Yes, enoa4 has pinpointed this hak as the source of the loadscreen issue for his game - but you may wish to read his posts on this site to better understand his perspective on the value of the hak to making the game possible at all.
It seems from the content of your post that you have chosen to punish the author of this hak as an element in the very old and very tired animosity between Apple and Windows operating systems. While I can understand your frustration with the loadscreen problem (I experienced it myself in Hythum), your extremely low vote is not justified by the actual performance of the hak within the limits imposed by the NWN engine. Please remember that the authors of the modules and haks are highly gifted volunteers in a community, that they do not have the resources of a game designing company at their disposal, and that they count on us to provide constructive, thoughtful critiques on the quality of theirs work within the parameters and restrictions posed by the NWN toolset and engine. It is not in their power or pervue to fix NWN's engine.
Perhaps you would like to rethink your vote?
PS - if you do reduce the graphics quality in order to play Hythum, you won't be disappointed. Even at low res, the tileset makes the "sky island" world a reality, strongly supporting the creative storyline.

Also, door on sewer 1 gives a missing model error.

Cool tileset, though there is a problem when stream meets "water". Suggest "forest2 style waterfall.
For my own personal use, while the current version is highly cool, I would need the tiles to come to an end within visual range. I'm making a very dissociative location, and floating islands would be perfect. Either way, great tileset!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm working on a module and this is exactly what I've been looking for! It's really helping make my city look more like what it should, according to my story. You've done some great work here, especially for a first tileset.
I'd love to see this expanded and worked on more on the future, with original buildings and such! I'd offer to help, but unfortunately I have all the modeling skill of a dead ferret.
Great job!
One question, though - is there any way I can get cobblestones to repeat off into the distance when cobbles are the edge of the area? I assume you have turned this option off - is there any way I can turn it back on?

"Discovered a bug: There's a border of what looks like water way below the city, once around the area. It's a bit hard to explain. "
ive had this issue with a few tilesets that hold bottomless pits or chasms........... i think it has to do with skyboxes? or something of that nature. ive had it in the desert tileset, underdark, and other tilesets ive downloaded. its not this hak, its something with the engine i think

The airships are great! Please put the word 'airship' in your description somewhere! I've been searching using the Vault search engine for an airship model recently and have yet to come up with anything at all. I stumbled on this by coincidence while looking for something else. :D
