A couple of months ago I noticed a beta undersea tileset appear on the NW vault. A great idea I thought. But a lot of work just to add a water plane to each tile. Also there was the limitation to a particular tileset for "undersea" adventures and the water level would be at a fixed height.
I thought of the placeable roofs that were available in the CEP and thought "why not a roof of water!"
It's simple to use, and a module builder can use any tileset he or she wishes. After doing a search on the vault and finding nothing, I figured someone should make an overhead water placeable.
Back in May I created these two placeables, and like some other NWN projects I that never quite got completed, they sat taking up space on my desktop. Well, these are now done and ready to go.
The water placeable comes in two sizes, 8x8 and 12x12. That should cover most area scenarios. You can, of course, adjust the height (I believe I have it at default of 10 meters).
The hak works with HotU 1.67 and 1.68. If you are using CEP v1.53, a separate 2da is included.
Update:10/2/06 Added 2da for CEP v2.0 Enjoy!
Update:5/28/07 Some very cool bonus stuff!!! 4 various sizes of... Double-sided overhead water placeables!!
Updated 7/29/07: Fixed issue with character's lower body disappearing when entering/exiting the double-sided water placeables. A special thank you to ShadowM for his assistance. It helped me figure out what I was doing wrong.
Note: ShadowM mentioned the character's lower body may not be seen if the placeable has "static" checked in the placeable's properties. Uncheck the box if you experience this issue.
ShadowM's water placeables can be found here.

Updated 7/10/08: Updated placeables 2da to patch v1.69.
Note: Bioware has used the placeables 2da slots the water models were originally using. The water models (pre-1.69 versions) will be overwritten by the new Bioware content in v1.69.
(This only applies if you are not using your own custom placeables 2da, of course)

Overhead placeable water, where have you been all my NWN module-building life?! Alas, it seems I have overrated other submissions, for now a 10 seems insufficient for this life-saving product.

I didn't include an ERF file, so you won't find them on the palette. You just need create a new placeable in the palette and set the placeable's appearance to the model you wish to use. Look for 'Overhead water' or 'Double sided water' on the placeable "appearance type" list.

This is great! I love how you can walk out of the water and back in... genius! Thanks for your hard work! _________________________ Check out Farcrown Arena, a full awesome Capture-the-Flag arena module for download! Host it and watch the forces collide! :D Link
Jackle_GB you may have noticed the release by Bannor of several Beta sets that are being released. Among them is my work on a CTP skybox collection. I did all this work in late 2006 and early 2007. Your water placeable inspired the idea of a water skybox. Well the water flat plain in any case.
I never expected the skybox compilation to make the light of day, but as Bannor had my latest copy it got published. I never got a chance to see what kind of performance hit it would have on the system as the mesh was quite large. You might want to check it out and play with the idea...

For those wondering, it turns out I had the model classification set at "Character" instead of "Other" when I exported the original models. Doh! (slaps forehead)
I would have probably overlooked this for quite a while, had it not been for spotting the difference in the example model ShadowM sent me.
The models in the new version of the hak have a dummy node I added. But after doing some brief tests, the originals seemed to work fine after just changing the classification.
Also, I noticed a checked static box can indeed cause the body disappearing issue. Your experiences may vary.
Again, my thanks to ShadowM for his help. Please visit his page for more excellent water placeables.
