The Arcadia Tileset is the result of an attempt at creating a "living city." It is a re-texturing of the default NWN City Exterior tileset.
During the creation, I focused strongly on trying to create a mish-mash of different styles that, while different, still worked well together. I've tried to create a city that appears to be the result of a hundred different stonemasons: Elaborate stonework, wrought-iron filigree and engravings abound, but they are mixed with decaying brickwork, rotting wood, sunbaked clay shingles and cobbles. Obviously within the framework of a tileset (and a re-texturing of one at that), only so much is possible to avoid homogeneity. In the end, though, I'm satisfied that I've created an attractive-looking city to work with, and that's what matters most. The ultimate goal of this tileset, additionally, is to provide something akin to the ancient cities of the Mediterranean - places like Venice, Zadar and Athens where art and history are ingrained into the very stone upon which the city is built.
Thanks and credit go to:
-DLA, CODI and Obsidian for their Sigil Tilesets, TNO Tilesets and NWN2, from all of which I drew screenshots and textures which I have incorporated into this (All textures, save for a few, have been extensively modified).
-ThallionStellani's NWAlleys, which are used here.
-The real life masons, artisans and craftsmen whose work I've taken pictures of off the net and used here (Again, modified extensively to fit into the tileset).
-The kind and helpful people of Bioware's NWN Custom Content forum.
12/8/07: Updated hak with some bugfixes and basic changes to improve the tileset in subtle ways. Courtesy of _sixesthrice_, thanks go to him for the hard work. Full listing of all changes is available in the below changelog.

I've updated the tileset according to some of the more popular request comments. Some low-res textures have been replaced with higher resolution ones, and there are new roofs and new ground cobbles. The old tileset will still be available if you prefer the old look.

The very excellent Sethan has been so kind as to update the tileset with all the tiles added to the City Exterior in patch 1.69, along with various bugfixes to the alley terrain. Thanks so much, man! It is now available for download below.

This is very nice work. Lots of details, which is something I like as a player and builder. It definitely looks lived in. Any chance of getting this as an optional replacing tileset? I'd be fine with replacing the default city exterior with this. _________________________ World of Aenea (Hall of Fame PW and the origin of all my works) Vault Entries: The Complete List (50+ entries, including 17 Hall of Fame awards) Self-Promotional Honesty: If you have opinions on stuff I've made, or if you use any of it (as a player or builder), I like comments/votes/feedback...so do other content makers and builders. Excellent work! I especially like the updated version. It was almost too much red before with those cobbles. I love the stained glass panels in the walls! Nice touch. _________________________ Silent Hill-ish Hak | Skybox Experiments | Creature/NPC Reskins Vol 1 | Works In Progress

The 1.69 Patch added a massive colosseum to the City, Exterior tile set. Since you are going for a Mediterranean look and feel with this tile set, could you possibly add the Colosseum?

JM Scion, this tileset is just a retexturing of the default Bioware city tileset (notwithstanding a few modifications, like NWAlleys, custom minimaps and a few other touches). Because of this, its outer-boundary tiles should (and last I checked, do) behave just like the standard Bioware tileset. I've never experienced any problems like what you described on my end, nor did my testers. _________________________ Arcadia City Tileset

Beautiful tileset that really gives any module a distinct look! My one gripe is that there doesn't seem to be any outer-boundary tiles, resulting in an eternal void on the edges of the map. Clever module designers should be able to cover this up however. Great work!
