This hak contains the minotaur models from a much larger idea I'm working on. This allows you to create minotaurs that can wear armor, dual weild or use double-sided weapons. One of the models also allows you to edit the appearance of the minotaur by changing the color of his skin, eyes, horns and hooves. The other uses the standard minotaur texture for skin. Both allow for much greater flexibility in implementing these essential D&D beasts. These can also be used with CODI's character creator to give you a very unique player avatar. Please let me know what you think as I am planning on adding more content, and feedback would help me to make sure what I'm doing is something the community wants.
Ogres and Hill Giants are in the plans as well, but will come after Kobolds, Lizardfolk and Goblins. I hope to be finished with this part of my plan by the end of the month. After that, I will be working on Monster "prestige" Classes.

These are fantastic. What are the chances of you making an ogre version of these?

Once again, I think this is a great project that can add so much variety to the game. After Kobolds and Lizardmen, any idea what you'll be doing next? I'm really hoping you do giants and perhaps undead... Thanks for this great hak. I'd vote for it again if I could!

A quick update. I've got a very talented modeler to help me out so things should happen a little quicker now. He is currently working on the Kobolds. Also, we will be releasing 2 versions of each monster race. One version will use the actual monster texture so no color changes and only one head available. The other will allow for color changes and multiple heads but will use the standard human textures. Unfortunately, I can't fiure out a way to do both in a single model. Orcs, Hobgolins and Kobolds should be available soon.

I would defintitely post that problem to the Bioware CC board...

It seems I've run into a fairly major problem. I won't be able to include multiple heads for any models unless someone can help me find a good tutorial on how to skin heads. I'm using Gmax and Photoshop. I can create the textures in tga, bmp and plt format. I can create/edit most objects I need. BUT, I can't figure out how to apply a texture to a complex object like a head. If anyone has any resources, please let me know. It's the only thing holding me up from releasing my hobgoblins and orcs. Other than the heads they are complete and ready to post.

DD Geek, A tutorial would be excellent for this. I would offer to throw in some time on helping expand your project, but I have like zero CC experience. If you think I might still be able to help even given my lack of experience in creating custom content, shoot me an email...

Wow. All this positive feedback is awesome. Sorry no major updates today, my wife worked all weekend so I spent the whole weekend with my kids. Nintendo Gamecube got all my time :) Now on to replies... Excalibur: Sorry, no way to change colors on the PC2 version. They use the creature tga as the texture source instead of plt files. I will consider making PC1 versions if there are enough people asking for it, but not untill then because I personally don't think they look near as nice. Also, I like the head idea so I'll see what I can do. Mr. Dave: Glad to hear you like the hak. Could you please tell me more about "Weathersong". Dradjeel: Yes, the necks are too long. I'm having a problem with the head getting "stuck" to one side, so I raised the head thinking it would clear up the problem. It didn't help, so I'm going to put them back where they belong. Gandalf: Great idea on the portfolio, I'll set one up as soon as I can. As for the individual haks, sounds like a good idea. I use the same appearance.2da for all the new races so it shouldn't be a problem for people to use more than one monster hak. Also, any humanoid type race can be done. The minotaur was the hardest one to do because of the odd feet and large hands, but the rest are easy, just time consuming. This minotaur hak took me about 6 weeks to get working. It was my first attempt at custom content and I had a LOT of learning to do. The hobbies took, about 3 days, so I've sped up the process quite a bit. Expect orcs next then most like kobolds and lizard folk. One last thing. I've considered either starting a small group to help with the cause or putting out a tutorial for people to do their own. Let me know if there's interest in either. Thanks again for all the kind words.

For the reasons of the plt system being how it is, you might want to stick to races with relatively humanlike skin. There is quite a variety of those, however, so it's not really a major limitation.

Glad to hear that these don't use the override or dialog.tlk files. This really is a great addition to the game. I would concur with the other requests for doing this for the other humanoid races, such as goblins, orcs, ogres, giants, gnolls, kobolds, lizardmen, etc. Not sure if it would be possible, but maybe you could do this for some of the demons or planar creatures as well, like CODI's demons or even their mindflayers. Just think about having a mindflayer guard in plate armor... Now that Maximus has set up the portfolio system, I would say upload each creature as individual haks and also upload a compilation of them. This way people could use individual creatures that you have altered to be able to use armor, without having to download them all if they only need just one or two of them. One huge request I would have would be to see the giant races able to use different armors. Also, it would be really great to be able to put different armors on undead creatures... This really is a great hak. Thanks for putting in the time on these.
