While this mod will work with small parties, anything beyond two players will probably make the combat sequences trivial.

As Hybornia is a low-magic world, there will be important disadvantages to playing any casting class. Also- weve found the game easiest with a fighter or barbarian and extremely difficult as a solo rogue. Balance your party accordingly.

Description
You wake on a beach, the survivor of a shipwreck. The men you sailed with are either dead or dying, and you need to find food and shelter for your fellow survivors, and then eventually find a way off of this mysterious island. Pirate of Hyboria is the first chapter of an epic adventure set in Robert E. Howard's world of Hyboria, the setting for his Conan the Barbarian stories. It takes place during Conan's reign as king of Aquillonia, and your character is a young sailor serving in his army. Keep in mind that Hyboria is very different from the setting of the usual Neverwinter Nights adventure. Magic is rare in this world, and has a corrupting influence on those who use it. You're welcome to play this mod as a caster if you like, but expect it to be very difficult. You will not be able to find spells, and casting near friendly npcs will cause them to become unfriendly. IMPORTANT NOTE: This mod requires a custom hak pack which is included in the zip file.
I like the module, a little short thou. Could be an excellent start module in a series thou, or some start areas of a larger module. Keep up the good work.

Story elements made sense and the story flowed very well. A few spelling errors here and there, but not nearly enough to detract from the module. Had a very "High Adventure" feel to it. Highly recommended to anyone who likes a low magic environment.

A good, clean adventure. For a two hour jaunt into the world of hyboria it was fairly well put together. I did have a few observations, however. First, though you state that the game scales to level, I found that not to be the case. I went in with a level 7/5 Barbarian/Thief and found that the fights were all too simple until I encountered the Beatles, which were undefeatable. Now, I don't want an adventure to be full of life or death battles, so I don't mind it not scaling upward entirely - though others may be less pleased by that. But the stag beatles scaled unrealistically and I could barely fight two at a time ... considering there were probably over two dozen and they invariably see you when you talk to the guardian of the graveyard, I found that obsticle inpassible. Eventually I cheated and set myself on god mode just to get through the conflict. The second issue isn't one of mechanics, but setting. There seems to be alot of assumption on part of the characters - your own and the npcs - that King Conan is going to kill you because a storm dashed the supply ship against the rocks. This is rather out of character, while Conan can be harsh he is neither cruel nor unfair ... considering his own history he should certainly understand how such a thing can happen. Now, it is possible this is simply the impression you meant people whom had never met conan to have of him - in which case I have no argument. Thought I would point out that possible inconsistancy, however. Overall a module worth playing through.

Pretty straight-forward-which is good, not a lot of distracting side-quests, etc.- but not much roleplaying to do- which I'd really like to try in a Hyborian setting. A few elements that didn't make sense. Some elements were to conveneint; made it feel like the plot was advancing without my help. The overall setting was well crafted- really communicated the mood of Robert E. Howard's world- but there didn't seem to be much attention placed on visuals-making the characters and settings look like Hyboria, or at least making this particular representation of Hyboria look any different than any other NWN module.

Liked it, it was fun, had some tactical options (Avoidance, stealth, setting up traps etc were all viable options, not a mindless slog), looked nice, encounters were balanced in difficulty so it didn't frustrate but didn't feel too easy, and the dialogues give at least the impression of freewill, plus you can mess around with the "plot item", which is always a plus; I hate it when you get a "tome of ultimate power" or something but your character is "too scared to open it", and you don't have that here. The "girlfriend" quest actually had me murder an innocent, which is a nice bit of subtefuge. On hearing of this horrible graverobbing hermit who's kidnapped a girl and is having fun with her, I was only too willing to smite him down when he refused to come peacefully... oops XD So, why only 9.25? Well, it wasn't particulary long, and not much in the way of sidequests. The spellcaster detection was a bit touchy, so much as resting would trigger it (OMG he's praying!), and a couple of areas were slightly encounter heavy (I never did find the tracker in the woods). But, otherwise it's nice work :)

Nevermind, I found the source. If you do *anything* that effects your spells - adjust your spellbook, rest, have a buff/effect that alters your spells per day wear off, or even so much as put on/take off an item that effects your spells per day, it triggers the "Whoa dude this person is a mage" response. *Besides* that, it was a very neat module, I could give long praise but I'd be pretty much repeating what's already been said.

Hrm. I'm guessing I've run into a bug here ... *Not so spoilery* Trying to play as a Cleric (Yeah, a caster ;p), I can't get past the second area, or rather I can but it seems "wrong". Basiclly, the pirates there are always hostile. I get the feeling they're not meant to be since one of them gave me 5 evil alignment points for killing (In self defence), and their leader is Plot, and insisted even following me into the cave hitting me but being immune to my own attacks. I keep getting a "spam" message reading "You have dealt with the otherworld" maybe every 2 or 3 rounds, I'm wearing a ring of protection, periapht of wisdom +2, and a helmet with +2 wisdom (Do magic items count as cast magic? :/ ), besides that they do this even if I don't cast any spells.

I liked the white sandy beach, the small caves, the wood... The best Conan module on the vault. I found the final combat a bit tedious also one NPC (in the wood) was a bit hard to find. A great module otherwise.

Though relatively short, this module is an enjoyable adventure. Thorough in it's detail and and a great story. I will be watching for a follow up to this one. _________________________ -Antonymous "What does this button do?"

This is a very good module. I played older Conan modules before and I am not sure how I missed that one. I first play with a fresh character who was killed by an arrow. I played again a few days ago with Thulsa Doom (a Barbarian lvl 2) an another player with a lvl 1 character. Both had no equipment to start with. Lost my friend in the village. Continued solo. Was lvl 3 when I met the Boss. Gee that guy is tough. I had to run and rest 3-4 times to take him down which is not very realistic but there was no other way. Still this is module I recommend even if you are not a Conan fan.
