Description
This is the first chapter in the grail war series. If your looking for a quick hack and slash for an hour this isn't the module for you, so pick another, as this one is far more role-play orientated. This first of two chapters has 17 large quests spread over 42 areas, which are designed to be used either by an individual or small party, though not as a persistent world. It is set in the fictional town of NewPort, which is beset by raising lesser race attacks that seem to be organised. Who is behind it? What are their reasons? Can you help to find out in this complex role-player? Conversation, battles, puzzles and other clues will help you solve it all. NOTE: Please insure you have patch 1.32 or later of NWN to play this module as it has secret doors in it. Check readme for other details.

Woohoo! I just finished playing this mod and I enjoyed it very much! My Paladin ended up at Lvl 11 with lots of equipped goodies and even some gold left over for Chapter 2!
Pros...
I loved the way that you could wander at your own pace and go wherever you wanted, even having npc's offering hints.
Cons...
I could NOT shake that little &%$#*@ Lilani girl! {LOL}
I tried the Debug trick several times in many different locations, nothing seemed to work. Oh well, such a minor thing compared to the many hours of NWN1 Fun!
Thanks Huntsman, and I'm looking forward to the sequel!

Some minor bugs as well as major ones, but an enjoyable module by far. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

In short: Those who liked the AC may enjoy this campaign but others should avoid this module.
IMHO Alazander was very generous when he reviewed 'Grail War'. In the light of other modules of similar vintage I think this one (just like the OC) is below average.
- poor logic/realism
- heavy H&S with unbalanced combats
- background story/quests lacking originality
Umm this may be a Dumb question..
Given the time frame...
But, Hey all that know me.. "Know"
I have ta ask if it's on ma'h mind:)
Will part 2 every be out?
Have a Great Day...

My goodness completely forgot to vote. Disregard any low votes here, I have no idea why?
Just play the mod and enjoy.

I was trying this mod with a lvl 3 character.
Got the stone (just in case) and did not finish the conversation - don't need free gold or free XP -
Went to the guild and became a member. So I went to the members area. You can see two NPC there. There is a kitchen and three closed doors. What is in there is unknown but one could assume that it is a friendly area either places to rest or places where perhaps you can find another henchmen.
No one of the door is trapped with some crazy fire trap and you will just die. This is just ridiculous. now I am not taking XP penalty for a design flaw so I guess I'm removing your mod from my server. Sorry.

Holy Cow did this mod rocks!!! Great story (or beginning it looks like), used linear with sidequests fabulously. I was really upset when the end came, yelled out loud in dismay. SO looking forward to the next parts!!!! Hope you make Hall of Fame, you deserve it!! Hey Bioware, here's your next mod builder!

Big mod, a couple of clever quests, I enjoyed it. It definitely leaves you hanging, though.

I also have a problem with the rescued girl. When I get to the gates and enter the city, she just keeps taggin along. I've been all over the city and Scrubs with her, she won't leave. I am using version 1.62, however, I added the HotU Exp Pack *after* I started playing your MOD... maybe that has something to do with it?
Anyway, I will try your fix... GREAT MOD!

Top mod.
Disregard previous comments. Sorted. One of the vamps had the key and I didn't search his remains.
Did the debugging but girl stuck around for a while ( no extra 100xp)until she got killed.
Found end battles in castle to be a little easy for 8/2 - 9/2 ftr/rogue (after buying magics). Anyway ended up 9/2 about 3000 short of next lvl.
Highly recommended and most def one of my faves.
Thanks very much and any news on part 2?
Cheers

Loving the mod so far. Missed one or two quests and am too high a level now to check them out (7/2 Ftr(gladiator)/rogue).
Started at 2nd lvl but it was so tough but caution does have its rewards. On the vamp hunt, cleaned out graveyard but can't find keys to get through doors?
Couple of things the little girl, forgive me but I am a dummy dummy where do you type in debug mode etc to negate this. Didn't even realise i get 100xp as well.
Also as it was tough spent a lot of cash on buying potions etc. Prefer the challenge of bashing away, rather than teleporting out resting and going back in. Based on this have not been able to buy normal gear can't complain at mo I'm AC 30.
Also as my gladiator has exotic weapon focus/spec/imp crit with B. sword, I hoped I'd find one. I've found 7 +1 B. Swords though and buying the +2 is most expensive item by far.
I'm gonna search graveyard area one last time but anybody out there can you help?

Enjoyed this module more than 90 percent of the ones I`ve played. Challenging but not frustrating, interesting story line. Hope to see Part 2.

Some news about part 2? Are you gonna update part one too to use the two XP and CEP? _________________________ The hottest new modules you can't miss - player suggested

Good story (as far as I could tell)
Well designed areas
Good Scripting
Completely ridiculous fight balance

The 3 is there simply because the layout and quests were well done. However, there were sooo many scripting error messages that I finally had to give up. hopefully, the author will go through the module and correct the problems instead of simply posting an "in game fix" as has been done for one of the problems. _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant.

Hi Ygnir
Thankyou, I'm glad you are enjoying it so much. If you look at some of the comments below you will see that the bug you are seeing has been covered, with ways to fix while playing. It seems to be a bug that is effecting people that have patch 1.61 or 1.62, when the module was done on an early patch version. Oddly though I am using the 1.62 HotU patch and can't recreate the bug myself when playing (despite many tries to do so), and so I have to assume its one of those wierd cross patch issues that can sometimes arise.
I will be updating this module to a HotU 1.62 only module soon, but for anyone playing that has this bug just use the console command fix. You click the ` key (to the left of the number 1 on most keyboards) and then type the below.
DebugMode 1
dm_setvarobject FollowTarget001 OBJECT_INVALID
NOW CLICK ON THE GIRL WITH YOUR MOUSE CURSOR.
DebugMode 0
Do each of those lines followed by pressing your return key. Hope that makes sense.

Hello..
First to say, I love this module, one of the best I've seen sofar !
I've got a small problem however.
My character is a CG female elf rogue, and she's being stalked by this little girl Lilani, who insists on giving her 80 xp every now and then, but, what's far worse, keeps my rogue from hanging out in seedy area's, prevent her visiting her favorite bar (you just can't take a little girl in there) and generally makes her paranoia for always being there !
I get the following errors after freeing Lilani from the scum that wanted to sacrifice her.
Script Lilani_reward OID:80001dd8 Tag:lilani ERROR:TOO MANY INSTRUCTIONS
Script nw_c2 OID:80001dd8 bla bla ERROR:TOO MANY INSTRUCTIONS
She follows me everywhere... and even worse... she attacks hostiles, making it hard for a girl to sneak around.

Enjoyable, but not as role-playing oriented as the description suggests. Basically a pretty long non-linear hack-n-slash oriented adventure, with a couple of instances where you can flesh your character out a bit. I liked the mod and am looking forward to the sequel.

One of the most involving and best done mods I have had the pleasure of playing. The story can be run straight through or you can do the numerous side-quests that are readily available. The henchmen are very helpful (instead of in the way) and I eagerly await the next chapter. Well done!
